Teaser review...
Its safe to say my interests are peaked. What I read of the book was wonderful. I loved the detail that went into the character introductions and it's so unfair that the entire teaser ended on a cliffhanger. Cannot wait for the release, hoping for an advanced copy.
This teaser was provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

Ugh!!!! I didn’t realise this was only an excerpt when I requested it and while I really want to give it only 1 star for that, the fact is I want to know more! I want to know what happens next, I want to know how she knew; I need to know!

I hadn't realized that this was only an excerpt when I requested it! The formatting was out of wack which made reading it hard, and the amount of story presented makes it hard to get a real feel for what's yet to come in the story. There's a lot of The Wedding Planner vibes going on in the first little glimpse especially the fact that Meg seems to share JLo/Mary Fiore's gift of predicting doomed marriages.

This is an excerpt from the novel. I've read other titles by Kate Clayborn and enjoyed them. The premise and characters are appealing here and I can't wait to read the novel.

I've only just recently read my first book by Kate Clayborn, but enjoyed it so much I couldn't wait to read this excerpt from her forthcoming book, especially as it sounded really unusual.
Meg makes her living by designing hand lettered custom journals etc. and after a piece in The Times has become quite famous and known as The Planner of Park Slope. But supposedly she can also read signs in relationships that other people miss and last year wove a secret sign into some wedding invitations as she knew the marriage was doomed for failure. The first chapter of this book is when the bridegroom comes back to the shop and asks how she knew - he'd found the secret code!
And... then it finished! Just when it was getting interesting, and I wanted to read more and know more about this lovely world of lettering and secrets.
But it's a great concept for a book and I now can't wait until it's published, I feel inspired to rush out and buy some calligraphy pens and have a go myself!

Argh! I did not anticipate this being an extract for some reason. Left on a suspensful cliffhanger, I can't wait to find out what clue she left in the lettering!

I've never read this author before, but I could tell just by the first pages that I really click with her writing. This easily snags your interest and curiosity, I had no problems on that score. I would definitely read the full novel when I'm able to! The synopsis gave me high hopes and the sample did not disappoint.

Absolutely LOVED the sneak peak of this book and I can't wait until it comes out in January... what do I have to do to get my hands on it early?!? What a cliffhanger in the first chapter!!
I guess I should have read the description on NetGalley more closely... because all I want now is to read the entire book!! UGH.

Cute premise. Looking forward to reading the full book when it comes out. I really enjoy this author.

What a tease! A calligrapher and a hot angry guy who wants to solve the mystery of how a “shopgirl” knew his marriage would fail? I’m intrigued....looking forward to reading the entire book!

Why would you do this to me? lol I’m totally hooked and I need more! Don’t leave me hanging like this 🤣

Oh my goodness!! This tease has me hooked! I can’t wait to read the full book. This is my first time reading anything by Kate Clayborn and I absolutely love her writing style and I’m already invested in these characters. I need to know what happened and what’s going to happen...now!

OMG Please send me the rest of this book!!!! I was hooked from page one and want - need - to know what happens next. How did she know the wedding was doomed? How did he find out she knew?? What happens next? Yikes, too many unfulfilled questions!!

I'm very intrigued by the first chapter and love that the main character's sort of implausible job is actually a real occupation. The last sentence definitely has me wanting to read more when the full book is released.

Um, I need this now please. If the rest of it is anything like this excerpt, I regret reading it.... before I checked the publication date. However will I wait that long??

I only had access to an excerpt from Chapter one, so I'll reserve my opinions until I've read the whole book. But the first chapter definitely had me wanting more! The premise of this book is an interesting one, especially for those of us who are captivated by the beauty of the written word. There are lush details about fonts, and immersive descriptions that drop you right in the middle of the story. This is one I'll be looking forward to reading! *I'm keeping my star review mid-range because I haven't read the whole book, but it's one I expect to enjoy when I do!*

Not sure what is more upsetting. Realizing this wasn't the full ARC or that the excerpt ended with such a hook and now I have to wait until J a n u a r y.
Pls, NetGalley, can I has some more?

I'm usually quite courageous when it's about taking a chance on a new author. I didn't realize that this one would only be an excerpt but in hindsight I'm thankful!
I just finished the first chapter and now I want more! Kate Clayborn's writing is figurative and a little quirky. I enjoyed this snippet and I'd love to read the whole story to find out HOW Meg new Reid's marriage would fail and how HE knew what Meg had done to his wedding program. How he came to the conclusion that Meg knew his marriage would fail. Totally intrigued!
4 stars because, let's be honest, you can't judge a book by reading one chapter.

This is only the first chapter so I don't have much feedback to provide at this time, except this made me SO EXCITED to read the rest of the book!!!!

NetGalley and the publisher offered only the first chapter for review, and that was a very smart move. The concept of this story is stellar, combining the art of hand-lettering, the mystique of hidden symbols of messages, a swirl of a story structure, fabulous characters, and details that leave you with quite an appetite for more. I love books with strong visuals, and this book has them. Worth waiting for the full book to be released next year. It's clearly going to be a good one.
