This is one of those feel-good novels. Four women going through similar trauma's bond and form a close friendship.
I liked the characters. They felt well rounded and full of emotions.
The style of writing is also very easy to read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to sample this book.

I am sorry to say that after reading approximately 25% of The Sunday Potluck Club, I was unable to finish the book. It is not due to the author's writing....I was not expecting the subject to become too difficult and emotional for me. Melissa Storm is right on target regarding the grief of a young woman losing her mother. I regret that it was too painful for me to finish reading.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

One of the best reads for me in 2019 ! Would add this author to one my my must reads..Story line captures and keeps the reader into the story. Recommended to local book clubs.

I got to read the excerpt of this book, and I thought it was lovely. The bond that these women have formed through such challenging circumstances is heartwarming, and seeing them care for each other the way they do is beautiful. I was a little worried as I started this, as my mother had cancer about a year and a half ago, and while she's still with us and doing well, and I was not a full-time caregiver, I still thought it might too painful to read. I was pleased to find that I actually found warmth and encouragement in these women's stories (or the parts of them I got to read so far). And I don't know all that much about Alaska, so I am looking forward to learning more about what it's like to live there year-round.
I can't wait to finish reading The Sunday Potluck Club and find out what happens to these women in the next chapter of their lives.

Thank you, Kensington, for this chance to meet these women and start reading this story!

Love Love LOVED The Sunday Potluck Club. And, by the way, this review is about the entire book and not just an excerpt which was previously published.

Four very different women, with distinct personalities, forge a friendship with one another after meeting on a cancer ward. They are the survivors who, with one exception, have lost a loved one to cancer. Amy, who the story primarily revolves around; Bridget, whose mother has just died; Nicole, whose father is in remission and Hazel who lost her mother before the others. Each are grieving and coping with their loss, as well as survivor’s guilt, in their own unique way. Told from Amy’s point of view, we get to know each woman’s strength’s and their flaws as they encourage one another through difficult times. When Amy meets a man whose daughter is in her classroom and who also is coping with loss, she finally begins to see that there can be life after monumental loss.

The Sunday Potluck Club talks a lot about death, grief, and coping with loss but never in a heavy way. Yes, it is realistic to the point that you hurt for some of the women and there were times that I wanted to slap a few of them, but overall, it was a beautiful story of friendship and overcoming challenges. At its heart, it is a well crafted love story between friends as well as possible romantic interests. It’s a book about life, not death. It also is the first in a new series so each woman will have their story told. I cannot wait for the next one!

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for the sample. I did not realize that this was only a sample of the novel, what I did read was pretty good. I might pick up the finished novel.

The Sunday Potluck Club by Melissa Storm

TBD rating. So far 3/5 Stars but I am hoping to pick up the rest of this book as this is only a excerpt of the book.

I read an excerpt of this book and it left me wanting more. The Sunday Potluck Club is a group of four women who are bound together by the death of someone important in their lives. It is a story of their friendship and the support they give to each other. This was such a sweet book about overcoming loss and finding friendship in the hardest of times.

I liked that this story takes about death but yet did it in a light hearted way that wasn’t “heavy” and heart wrenching! A quick story about friendship and opening your heart for love too! It lacked some depth I thought as I couldn’t feel as
Connected with the characters as I would have liked

This excerpt was very interesting. I liked the setting in Alaska. I can see the group of friends are very close and an interested to see how their relationships develop throughout the book.

Based on just this preview, this looks to be a good read on friendship and loss. Hopefully some love will surface as well.

Four women are brought together through hardship. They each have a parent that has been through cancer treatment. They forged a friendship that supports them through success and despair.

I received only an excerpt of this book, but it was just ok to me. I didn't feel connected to the characters at all. I felt that the story was being forced and while I love the premise, it just fell a little flat for me. Wish I liked it more!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this excerpt in exchange for my honest review.

I first became acquainted with these characters and this author from a story in the book Home Sweet Home, which I received an ARC of in exchange for an honest review. I loved the story and searched for other books by Melissa Storm and came upon a sample of the first 10 chapters of this book, and wanted to give it a try!

Amy, Hazel, and Bridget recently lost loved ones to cancer and Nichole’s father has gone into remission. All four friends connected through a parent’s cancer battle, and are now trying to readjust to life and make a new normal for themselves. The characters are relatable, the story that I have read so far makes me want to read the rest (what is Olivia’s story, is Bridget dealing with the loss of her mother, etc.) - I am looking forward to reading more! I don’t feel like I can give 5 stars unless I read more, so 4 will have to do for now!

This is a review of the advanced reader edition of only the Excerpt. From the excerpt this is an interesting story of friends who form a support group/potluck meal club. Their individual stories are very emotionally charged with illnesses of family members and other family strife. Since this is just an excerpt, I don't feel comfortable commenting on the writing of the book at this time and will default to a five star review as I don't think it's fair to the writer to give any other review on just a portion of the book. Overall I did enjoy what I read very much but just like commercials for a movie it's hard to tell from an excerpt from a book if you've already read all the best parts or if there is even more in store in the full book.

This was an excerpt of the book and oh man did it leave me wanting more! In the short bit that I've read it had me feeling all the emotions. The characters leap off the page and make you feel so attached to them from the get go. I can't wait to read the rest!

Need to read more before I can review. The excerpt is good and can't wait to read the book! So far very promising. Love this author!

This review is of an excerpt, not the entire book. It was a good introduction to the main characters and how they met. Bridget and Amy meet on the cancer ward of the local hospital where they are helping their parent fight cancer. Their support unit grows as more women meet with them for Sunday dinner. Can't wait to see if the rest of the book does justice to the beginning. I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. The entire ARC will be available in January.
