I had reservations with receiving this book but was hopeful. Sadly, like so many Llewellyn books, this one was oversimplified and basic - not something I would hope for from something that was supposed to be fore people in a leadership role in their communities. A great book to look at for people outside of the faith or who are new and have dreams of stepping up to those roles as they learn more but...I think if you are wanting to become part of the priesthood in your community, I would hope there would be more from you and more for you than this.

This one is totally on me - I thought it was brilliant (despite some formatting issues with my e-copy), and adored Lora O'Brien's tone, writing style, and especially her sense of humour. I didn't really think that there would be so many questions and, well, I guess, practical parts of this book, despite the name. I thought it would give more of an outline of what Pagan Priesthood looked like in case I wanted to consider it myself somewhere down the track - this book is more for people who are already pagan priests etc., and who are looking to deepen their practice/be even more helpful and giving.

Again, I think it's brilliant, just not what I was expecting, and that is absolutely my fault for making assumptions!

While this book was indeed a practical (ie. not the most interesting) guide for priesthood, I agree with other reviewers when they stated that this seems to be a rounded guide for most priests instead of specifically for the Pagan priest.

The information was solid, Lora knows what she's talking about and the information will help me on my path, but I wish it were a little more tailored for the Pagan priest, as it was advertised to be.

THIS. BOOK.
OMG, this book is a MUST. This book will be an almost mandatory reading for all people who I teach or initiate because it's just that amazing. It's, no doubt, one of the best books in Paganism that I've read lately and the best I've read regarding Priesthood.

Just so you have an idea: When I finished the last page of the book, I placed my kindle down, grabbed my phone and bought my physical copy. Instantly!

The author is fantastic and very clear with her writing, sharing not only her own experiences but also the experiences of others and what she learned during her years in the Pagan communities. There's so many resources and things to learn throughout this book. And, in the end, there's an amazing collection of questionnaires and answers from several people, in tons of different pagans, which I simply loved because it gives such a wide image of our communities.

I recommend this book whole wholeheartedly as one of the best books I've read on Pagan Priesthood. It's AMAZING.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I did not know all that was required or went into the priesthood for being a pagan. This book does a great job of just breaking it up into steps and chapters. I now have a better understanding to the process and what it takes. This was something that I wanted to know that is why I requested to read this book.

Informative and filled with useful information, although it was heavy and thick at times, but the author manages to capture your attention at every chapter, also including anecdotes and experiences that serve as an example of what being a Pagan priest is like. I respected the role they represent in Paganism, but now that I know with details what they do and the challenges said role presents, I admire them!

The book was not aimed as much at pagans as I thought it would be. It seemed to be more general. It was alright, not a bad book but nothing amazing either. It might be a great resource for those who follow the path of Priesthood but I'm not, so it just wasn't for me.

For me, this was an okay read. Nothing more, nothing less. I sometimes felt that the book was a bit universal in regards of priesthood, even though it was supposedly aimed towards pagans.

As a reader fascinated with a lot of different aspects of the spiritualism I picked this book up to see how the more religious side of the equation worked for those within and whilst I couldn't see myself as a member of the Pagan Priesthood, I found the lessons within interesting and explained really well.

However for me, other than this, I really didn't get on with the book as I felt it wasn't quite written for the pagan faith in and of itself, more of how all priests should act for any faith. Don't get me wrong, that's not always a bad thing bringing the moralistic stance to practitioners however for me, the only real lesson that I took from the whole title was to think about how your own acts and actions would impair others around, which I suppose is perhaps the whole point of the book.

All round its solid enough and obviously written by someone who knows what they're talking about but for me, it wasn't a title I had to spend hours with or will be rereading again which sadly means it wouldn't be something that would have to have shelf space.

It does have a variety of topics one can learn about / use as a priest or leader of a group. But also as an individual. It helps you in a different area that you may or likely will encounter when entering in leadership, as well as you continuing on. In the end, there are some resources that could be helpful. Not for me, since I do not plan on going into something like this but can be a great resource for those who do want to.

The title has specified this to be a practical guide, so do not expect it to be interesting. However, it is a useful read, in that everything is well-organised and easily understood.
