A stunning story! Nalini has always been one of my favourite authors and this new direction of hers into the genre of mysteries/thrillers is amazing! She is a master of storytelling and this new book is no exception. I love the descriptions which paint a picture and the characters are so vibrant. Anahera is flawed, flawed by the betrayal of her husband which she only discovered after he died. Will is flawed too, by the strength of his emotions in doing the right thing as a cop. The story takes place in New Zealand, a small community called Golden Cove. Will was sent there to be the only cop, partly as a punishment for just trying to save the life of an abused woman and her son, both of whom died. Anahera returned to her home in Golden Cove, to attempt to come to terms with what has happened in her life. I do hope Nalini continues to write more thrillers and it was great to read a stand alone for a change!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nalini Singh is best known for her Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series. With A Madness of Sunshine, she steps into the suspense genre where a small town in New Zealand welcomes home a prodigal daughter fighting her own personal demons. Soon after, the lone police officer assigned to the town is faced with a missing persons case which may tie into a decades old series of murders. As the two work together, secrets bubble to the surface with the potential to destroy friendships and lives. Highly recommended for all libraries to purchase.

I'm a fan of Nalini Singh's books, and this is top-notch. It's a different style from her paranormals, but it features engaging characters, and fantastic New Zealand locations..Our heroine has returned home after the death of her husband. It's a quiet small town, but 15 years ago there were three missing hikers, and their cases were never solved. Now a local girl is missing.... This starts the drama, and it is a fantastic read. We get the small town details, the people who have know each other since childhood, and the small town gossip. Highly recommended!
