This was a complimentary copy from net galley - thank you

I have not read anything by this author before but will certainly be in the future

I loved this book !!

I was a little bit nonplussed by the constant car references. We know Ellie is obsessed with her pet project but I did find the constant references a little annoying

Didn't put me off the book - or giving it 5 stars

Another winner from Jackie Ashenden. Is it too simple to just say I simply like her writing and the characters? Tough exterior that she sees thru and he lets her in. Realistic because those interactions can happen in real life, but add billionaire and other elements to add to the story. Only wish her books were more accessible in paperback for our customers!

I am a fan of this author, but I had a difficult time getting through this one.
I found the plot to be unbelievable and the characters very annoying.
Fast forward to the HEA, although the female character, in my view, was lacking self-respect.
Overall, this one was a giant miss for me.

Wow what a book!!!

This is a story of Ellie Little and Ash Evans.

Ellie has suppressed her feelings and girly nature her whole life surrounded only by men in her family. She walked a careful line trying not to cross in to and emotional zone and keep her fussing to a minimum for everyone around her.

Ash has built his whole life and business on anger and betrayal. He has not let go of things that happened to him from when he was a kid. Things he could of prevented and things it was impossible for him to have any chance at stopping.

Well the two of them end up meeting and from that moment on what a roller coaster of emotions it was. He was suppressing his feeling and covering it with anger and even though Ellie tried she could not hind the overwhelming feelings running through her.

I loved that they both were very head strong and accept challenges in an amazingly fun way. The story was good I actually really loved it! I don’t want to give to much away in this review but I will say that in the beginning of the book I had some trouble wanting to keep reading , I’m glad I did but it still was there.

My problem, she refers to him as a car!
To there sexual actions as driving a car. Well I’m not a huge car fan and I personally hated this and it turned me off right away. This threw my car to a halt pulled the emergency brake and skidded to a stop real quick and then got stuck in some mud lol!
I wanted to stop reading but I don’t leave books unfinished unless I can’t follow the story at all. So I kept with it and it paid off in the end.
The car references with the sexual activity eased up and in the end I really enjoyed this book it was great and held my attention after the brief issue.
Thanks so much to netgalley for the chance to experience this book.

Ash and Ellie bring on the misconceptions and first impressions. Ash has a scarred face from street fighting and Ellie is always hiding in the background. They come together as a powerful and sexually charged unit. Blush is guaranteed.

A quote (from ARC):
“With his height and his broad built, his scarred face and the electric blue of his eyes, the formality of the clothing seemed only to enhance the raw masculinity of him, a kind of untamed energy that had made my breath catch the moment I’d seen him in it.”

I usually don’t like instant attraction/love, but this was well written and intense, even if in a schematic, abbreviated way. Jackie Ashenden is so talented creating these beastly heroes who turn into big, gentle kittens when they fall for their fiercely beloved heroines.
Ash is another one of Ashenden’s grumpy males with a “fearsome reputation”, a rude “beast of a man” who goes all “fierce and passionate” and protective when he falls for the inexperienced, yet intrepid and bold, heroine.
“The Debt” is a typical Jackie Ashenden story, with lots of explicit sex, and a scarred, wounded hero, “arrogant and bossy and demanding”, whose tenderness we only get to glimpse through the privileged eyes of the heroine.

Ellie is a young woman who is out to help her dad. He has gotten their car design business which also races in financial trouble. Her father doesn’t want her four older brothers to know out of pride. So, he has asked Elle for her help.

She has taken on a second job in order to bring in cash but also to get near the subject she needs to sweet talk into giving her father extra time to make the business what it once was. But Ash Evan’s he holds all the cards. If he pulls all his funds and calls on in his investment money they are done for.

Hence her job as a chauffeur. She has also moved from Australia to London to get into the rotation of the many drivers. Ash goes through because he is so harsh and demanding. But, remember she has four older brothers he doesn’t scare her. Not succeeding does, as well as letting her father down too!

Ash is arrogant, full of rage and revenge for his stepbrother, Sebastian Dumont. Also, his ex-best friend who together growing up in private school ruled them. They talked about going into business. How and what they would do. Until Seb stole all the ideas and money. Now Ash intends to repay the favor.

First, on the list surprising him at the exclusive Billionaire’s Club. How sweet it is. Will his stepbrother think so? The first meet with Elle sparks another connection that irritates him. Yet, it intrigues her. He is unlike any of the alphas she has been raised with. There was one quiet, two stoics, two that are cheeky, and a fun one. The dangerous of them all is the one who is pretending to be nice but is a sleaze.

Find out how two invisible children learned to cope in there worlds yet, were able to see each other clearly now. I love the passion yet gentleness of the characters in just the course of a short conversation. She brings their pains and heartache flying off the pages.

You will also fill their growing sexual intensity from each look, touch, and moment together. I give this: 5++++ stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

Ellie lost her mother when she was young and has lived in the shadow of her brothers. In Australia their family owns an auto business that Ash Evans a billionaire has invested in. Because an assault on Ellie her father has paid the bad guy off and put the business in financial difficulty. To safe the company Ellie tracks down Ash to beg for more time to pay on his investments. Love Ashenden's way of linking these two for romance and healing of their past struggles. "A copy of this book was provided by HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada) via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my own opinion." EVERY BOOK I SEE WRITTEN BY THIS AUTHOR I PICK UP!

The Debt is the first book in the series. This is the story of Ash, who make his money as a street fighter and Ellie who works as a chauffer to earn money and continue to work on her prototype car in her father's company. She is sent to England to pose as Ash's chauffer so she can get close enough to ask him to not enforce the debt repayment for money loaned to her father. Ash and Ellie get close all right. And the fireworks begin.

This book had a bit more sex scenes then the author's other books but if you can overlook that you will probably enjoy the concept of the story.

This book was different
I liked the main characters, the girl was somewhat a strong character (although she was wishy washy at times) but she seemed smart, she was confident and she caught the attention of a great guy. Ash was a fun character to get to know and I would have liked to get to know him better.
At first, from the description I thought it would be an edgy book (with the mention of street fighting in the description) however I was a bit disappointed that there really was just a passing reference to Ash's past of street fighting, and it really had nothing to do with the story overall.
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars for the interesting theme, not quite there characters (as in not to their full potential), and curiosity about what the author will write next.
I volunteered to read this book from Harlequin Dare in return for my honest feedback , the thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

I loved Ash. I think he is one of my favorite male characters by Jackie Ashenden to date. As usual the intimacy between the characters was hot but there was an emotional connection between them that drove it. Both of them were intense and strong characters and I loved how they were exactly what the other person needed. This book is going on my keep shelf.

Gah! If there is a new Jackie Ashenden story then I need to read it!! I am so obsessed with her books and The Debt was no exception. I loved Ash and Ellie and could not devour this story fast enough!

When Ellie Little asks Ash Evan's for a favor that will save her family's automotive business she had no idea that the brooding, growly former fighter would invoke such strong feelings in her. I loved how protective Ash was of Ellie and how he saw the vulnerable girl inside her looking for love and acceptance. Likewise, Ellie saw the wounded little boy in him who was always forced to fight back and go on the defensive to protect himself from feeling unworthy. They were such a perfect match!

While I loved this story I did feel that certain parts of the story were rushed. There was quite a bit of "telling" vs "showing" (his resolution with his brother for example) going on which left me feeling frustrated and wanting more. All in all this was a great read and I look forward to more from this author in the future.

All in all I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. 4 stars! ~Ratula

Ellie was just quite saucy, ‘To be fair, I could hardly not stare at your ***k,’ she pointed out. ‘Especially when it was in my face every time I had to check my rear-view mirror." Ash really does appreciate the sass his woman has, "Christ, the fire in her was sexy. The way she refused to back down got me hard as much as it irritated the **** out of me." I liked this book, I loved Ash.

5 STARS for Jackie Ashenden’s The Debt

ARC received from Netgalley .....
Below is my honest review - my opinions have not been influenced in any way ....

Thrilled to be able to read this ARC from one of my favorite authors. I am a HUGE fan of the Dare Line - always an amazing read that can usually be finished in one sitting / 24 hour period.

The two main characters Ash Evans ( who I have to admit to not liking very much at first ) & Ellie Little are like fireworks ( together ) 💥💥 waIting to go off! Well it is getting closer to the 4th of July here in the states 😊 🧨

Ellie is looking to find a way to secure financing for her family’s company Australis of which she is working on a prototype for a new model.
The only way she can coordinate trying to meet & talk to Ash a well known international billionaire property developer is by posing as his fill in chauffeur.... driving being one of her hobbies it’s not a stretch for her to show up as Ash’s limo driver.

Ash is described as ruthless - having a very bad temper & has “no” forgiveness for anyone in both his professional & personal life. The two make a deal to help each other Ellie will act as Ash’s long term girlfriend so he can pursue the purchase of these islands he wants to build a hotel chain on - in exchange for Ellie receiving an investment to pull her family business out of the red & build her much needed prototypes to attract new clients ...

“His stare ( Ash’s ) skewered me like a pin thru the wings of a butterfly “ - OMG just loved that line !!! Ellie is a tough little fighter & does not back down at all when faced with Ash’s HORID behavior !!!

I absolutely loved this book & highly recommend this read !!

As typical for this author you are in for a real treat with an awesome HEA & great epilogue !!!

Ash is a self made billionaire who is determined to show the upper class that he belongs whether they like it or not, especially his half brother. He's gruff and has a bad reputation but Ellie's planning on getting him to help her no matter what it takes. She doesn't bargain on the red hot chemistry the two of them have and how her feistiness goads a former street fighter into wanting her. In his quest for vengeance he finds out what is really more important in this sexy sweet romance.

The Debt is the first Jackie Ashenden book I've read and WOW I'm impressed. This is one book that will hook you from page one. Excellent snappy dialogue, interesting yet flawed characters with off the charts chemistry. The DARE line of books definitely take romance to a new and steamy level. I was also glad to see a sassy fierce female character that could give as good as she gets and wasn't overwhelmed by an alpha male. I give The Debt 5 stars and will be putting Ms. Ashenden on my "Must Read" list.

I loved this story! Ash and Ellie are one of my favorite couples of all the Dare books. The sex is steamy, but the relationship is compelling all on its own. These two don't have an easy road to each other and their journey is great to go on. I love how they have to discover theirselves and their own strength. Highly recommend this one!
