I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Hot hawt hott read with some different fetish but it was a great read.

I expected something a little more sexy but it was still a decent read. I liked the characters and the way the author wrote was good too

This is the first novel I've read by British author Susan Mac Nicol and I really enjoyed it. This is a much more plot/action driven book than character driven, as it seems most M/M Romance genre books tend to be. There is plenty of steamy action spicing up the plot as our heroes work their way through this mystery. I was fully engaged, though I wouldn't call this an action packed drama. There is a strong balance between focus on Clay and Tate's relationship and their work. As far as the fetish part of the plot-- the intrigue is there, but the book does not delve in to the nuts and bolts of specific fetishes. It's more the background to add color to the plot.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe if I had read the Men of London series I would have felt more connected to the characters. I was constantly mixing up Tate and Clay in my head. I still thought they were a cute couple, despite my confusion.
I appreciated how this book shined a light on some fetishes that I had not seen featured in other books before.

I feel like the best descriptor I can use for this book is "ish."
The story was good-ish. The romance was good-ish. The characters were good-ish.
The furry aspect surprised me, and after I got this book from Netgalley, I put it off because I was worried it was going to get into a kink that I wasn't into, but what wasn't explained in the summary is that the fetish isn't one of the main characters. So, that was fine.

Was looking forward to this one.
Right away felt I was missing another segment.
The story starts with us jumping in the middle.
The mystery aspect was good. Chemistry was ok.
Just felt like stuff was missing and incomplete.
Still enjoy the writing style of the author.
Just few gaps in the story made for a disjointed read.
Might be better for other readers.
Liked the cover.

I'm going to be generous and give this story 2-stars, though I DNFed at ~75% in and wanted to give up the entire time.

For Fox Sake is billed as a stand-alone, but I honestly didn't know what was going on for half the story. It felt like I was thrown in mid-series, MID-BOOK, which characters and relationships that I was supposed to know something about but didn't. I believe this is my first book by Susan Mac Nicol, and from what I gathered from reading other reviews, this book is really a spin-off from another one of her series. I highly recommend reading the other series before even starting this one.

I found the number of characters and relationships to be confusing and exhausting. I couldn't figure out what was supposed to be happening and why I should care about these men. I really hate when I read a book that is supposed to be a stand-alone, only to find out that it actually isn't.

Hard pass.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I checked and this is the first book in the series and I didn’t know of her original series Men of London and now I feel I have to check them out. Even though this is the start of a new series I feel like I missed something. The references about the past between Clay and Tate are stated as prevously worked out and I missed it. Even with that this is a great read. Clay and Tate have plenty of steam going on throughout the story and it is well described. They also made me feel that nothing was getting stale with them. The secondary characters were also fun. Not your everyday bores. Thomas more than made me roll my eyes. I would enjoy watching him but I think a little goes a long way. His interaction with Clay’s ex Aurelio was fun. Tate’s insecurity with Aurelio and his jealousy over Clay’s past involvement with him is pretty amusing. Just Tate being a insecure character is interesting. The several issues that pop up made me want answers that I feel I didn’t get. The part of Aurelio’s watching over people and his involvement with questionable people I wanted to know more about. The possible relationship between Aurelio and Thomas would be a story I would like to read. I don’t know where this series is headed but I know I’ll be watching for more book from it.

A little disclaimer, I didn't read the blurb I just read the title and thought this was going to be a paranormal, shifter book, with a bit if kink. It absolutely is not.

Clay and Tate are Invesitigation partners as well as intimate partners. They are asked to investigate the circumstances surrounding a murder. This story takes you into their intimate lives as well as their professional ones. One is a former soldier and the other a former cop, with PTSD, they both have scars they are working through, although none of that is resolved in this story.

This is the first book in the Fetish Alley series but it isn't the first book about Tate and Clay. If you hadn't read their book in the 'Men of London' series you may feel like you are missing part of their story.

This story felt like a slice of their day to day life. While most of it was spend on solving the mystery of how a man in a fur suit ended up dead in a place he feared, it has a lot of side arcs about other people in Tate and Clay's life. While the mystery is solved the story, ends leaving me feeling like their story was unfinished.

The fetish component of the story didn't really go into a lot of detail about the fetishes but seemed more interested in the shock value of certain fetishes. There's plenty of hot steamy M/M sex between Clay and Tate but very little kink you'd expect with a series named Fetish Alley. It's more about the people that live, work and run Fetish businesses on Fetish Alley.

Overall, this was just an okay read for me. I liked it but I was left feeling like it wasn't finished.

I received an ARC copy through NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. That said I expect any editing issues will be resolved before publishing.

I'm not really sure where i stand with For Fox Sake.

At first I thought I had mistakenly asked for an arc copy of the second or third in a series when I started to read this one. I checked however with Goodreads and it does says “fetish alley #1” but maybe this is the first in a spin of series for the author...regardless this was my main issue with this book: it read as though it were a sequel, not as the first in the series. There was a lot that suggested prior or assumed knowledge that just kind of threw me and left me thinking 'what am i missing here'. For instance, there were mentions of little things about our main couple, their work, their relationship, and their acquaintances. It did read as though these things happened in a previous book and they were there just to jog our memory of these things and not as establishing the setting or characters. There wasn't anything i could see however that indicated that their relationship started in another series. Going back onto Goodreads and looking at other reviews of the book i did discover that these MCs where the MCs in book four of another series.

I will say that I really loved coming into a book with an already established MM couple who were in a committed relationship. That was something I don’t think I’ve ever read in a romance before. It’s always usually about the couple getting together with some side drama here and there, so this was refreshing and one of the best aspects of the book for me.

I guess this is all I really have to say on this one. The overall writing was good, the plot interesting, the romance well established and it would definitely coerce me to read the next in the series, however due to the world building and contextual issues it made it a bit confusing and therefore slightly frustrating to read at times. I will say that i've definitely read more taboo and/or smexy stories, but this one was still pretty good on the scale of tame to smexy times.

I did not need to find a new author to follow! 😊

Note: This review is for both For Fox Sale and Feat of Clay because it was difficult for me to separate the reviews. For Fox Sake is 4 stars, Feat of Clay is 5 stars. I'll be posting this for both books.

Susan Mac Nicol is a new-to-me author. When I saw For Fox Sake on NetGalley I read the blurb and thought it sounded pretty interesting so I requested a copy. After doing a little research I found that there was a different book, in a different series, about the couple in For Fox Sake so I decided to read it first. That book was Feat of Clay, book 4 in The Men of London series.

While I think you could probably read For Fox Sake without reading Feat of Clay first, you'd miss the whole backstory for Clay and Tate and Feat of Clay is a fantastic story. It's quick paced, filled with anguish and angst and has a very satisfying HEA.

The blurb for each book is very good and describes each story well. Feat of Clay was a very emotional story to read. Tate has been through so much and it has left him with nightmares and other issues. He just doesn't really understand why Clay would even want to bother with him. These two guys go through a lot to get to their HEA and I was glued to my ereader until I finished reading this one.

For Fox Sake is the first book in a new series called Fetish Alley. The tone of this story was very different from Feat of Clay. It's more lighthearted, with much less angst. There's still a mystery to be solved (it was pretty easy to figure out) and it was great seeing Clay and Tate a few years down the road and now settled in together. After the anguish and angst in Feat of Clay it was kind of refreshing to read something that was pretty different in tone.

Although I have only read the one book in The Men of London series, I know that some of the secondary characters in Feat of Clay had books of their own in The Men of London series; I hope to make time to go back and read them.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the Fetish Alley series. It looks like these books may all have Clay and Tate as the MCs (main characters) and I look forward to spending more time with them.

A review copy of For Fox Sake was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

This is a new to me author I will be checking out in the future again. The descriptions of Fetish Alley and all it entails were intriguing and made me feel like I was there too. I enjoyed sleuthing along with Clay and Tate as the author led the way. I liked the strength and commitment of Clay and Tate to each other. I loved their banter. I recommend this read.

3.5 stars of sexy times

This is an engaging, quirky and smutty tale.

I learned a lot about fetishes , didn't even know existed. However, there is a bit more to this tale than racy and spicy times . Yes, we get plenty of naughty times , but we also get a decent plot in a whodunit style mystery , snarky banter and hot AF characters.

For Fox Sake is an entertaining and easy to read book.

I just reviewed For Fox Sake by Susan Mac Nicol. #ForFoxSake #NetGalley

We join Clay and Tate who run a detective agency, as they investigate the suspicious going ons in the confines of the intriguing Fetish Alley. Despite the serious nature of their work their banter is light hearted showing the years of friendship and passion that runs between them. I loved the fact that its set in London. The plot is perhaps a bit predictable but it was fun to read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

This is a well written and entertaining book. The relationship between Clay and Tate is very hot and sexual and is a large part of the book along with their investigation of a man’s death. Murder was not involved but the possibility caused this book to be a good read and the way they went about solving the case was well written. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.

This was an intriguing mix of a Sherlock-type mystery with a cast of characters from the London Fetish Community. Clay and Tate are partners in love and business. They run a private investigation company based on their backgrounds in the military and law enforcement. These two lovely characters came to life in a previous series of books by the author: Men of London. I haven't read the first series but I found that I could make my way through this novel easily. What I will say is that I'm curious about the backstories of these two men in particular so I may well be going back and getting the other books!

This twisted tale begins with a body being found in an alley. This is when the involvement with the Fetish community begins because the body is encased in a Fox suit! Yes! A furry! Local club owner and retired soccer player, Aurelio, contacts his ex-lover Clay and asks for some assistance in the case. There's some lovely tension created by the fact that Tate is quite a possessive lover and very jealous of Clay's ex.

Mac Nicol weaves in a variety of supporting characters as Tate and Clay unravel the mystery surrounded the Fox's death. Many of the side characters are intriguing and the chosen-family of the Investigators is vibrant and entertaining! There is a lot of witty banter, some scorching sex and some healthy UST. IF you are a fan of M/M romance, then you definitely won't want to miss this one.

In all this is a great read as a stand-alone, or if you want to read the whole series ... then save this one until you get caught up!

For Fox Sake, has a great storyline. Not just all about sex. I appreciate that. Some of the fetishes were weird to me, but to each their own.
