I loved this way of going through the prominent women of the Scriptures. So many times these women are not discussed like this. It was so enjoyable to learn more about them.

Sarah Christmeyer shows us that the same God that called Hanna, Ruth and Ester in Old Testament times is calling us today. Each with a unique set of gifts and experiences for the shared purpose of getting ourselves and others to heaven. As a gifted storyteller with a love for the Bible, Sarah makes the women of the Old Testament seem like real people that we might know. Sarah engages the reader’s imagination by relating stories from her own life and bringing specific traits and characteristics of these women into focus. This book portrays the beauty of embracing and sharing our own feminine gifts to help build up the kingdom of God. I highly recommend it and look forward to sharing it with the women in my life.

Theology, personal connection, Biblical heroines, devotion and questions for reflection....what woman could ask for more in a lively and spiritually nourishing read? Christmyer's book is a wonderful companion for Christian women who are looking for inspiration in the Word of God.. Her stories of women of faith from her own family history is a reminder that each of us have heroines in our own families, and we would do well to remember their words and actions that have helped us on our own paths to God. Highly recommended! .

This lovely book weaves together captivating stories of the author’s grandmother, great-grandmother, and other female missionary relatives, with women of the Bible. The women she has highlighted from Scriptures leap of the page and become more than examples, but guides into a deepened faith. This will be an enjoyable and great book for women’s groups, book clubs, as well as individual reading and study.

Looking at a number of women from the Old Testament, Christmyer shows us through both their stories and through connected stories from her own life, how these women relate to us and the larger role they play in the story of salvation.

I found it to be an inspiring book, great to read on your own. With discussion questions at the end of each chapter, it's also an excellent book for a study group.
