This was a great, quick mystery / crime novel and I really enjoyed the different perspective, with Tess as a worker for a charity that aims to prove innocence of incarcerated people. I was constantly guessing and didn't totally predict the ending, which I liked!

I don't know if it's just me but for some reason, though I enjoyed the premise, I couldn't seem to like any of the characters. The writing was good enough , a la Daly, but something was missing. It got to the stage where I just didn't care about the outcome for the imprisoned woman nor did I care for her daughter Mia. Tess herself left a lot to be desired and I was MOST unhappy at the final winding-up of the tale. As I said, maybe it's just me but I'm disappointed with this book. Nonetheless as the writing was reasonable and the premise was fairly new to me then I'd give it 3 stars. Sorry! This is a stonker of a read, Daly knows how to play with the reader; reeling them in and then delivering a twist! I really enjoyed this, and was hooked from the start. Well crafted characters that made you care. Thank you for the chance to review this title.

What a brilliant book this is and a real unputdownable read. The writing is superb and the characters are all so well crafted and believable and I really hope this won’t be the last we see of the team especially Tess. The storyline was unpredictable and had a brilliant twist at the end and I really feel Paula Daly put her heart and soul into the writing and it showed because this was much more that just another mystery thriller.
It’s hard to say much about the plot as it would spoil the read so all I would say is don’t miss this one it’s compulsive, clever and totally fabulous.and deserves 4+ stars.
