The first thing you need to know is this book is about 700 pages long! There are multiple characters, plots, sub-plots concerning our nation's cyber safety.

The President wants to go full out on Net Force, believing we are or will soon be under attack by hackers looking to implant malware and basically cause chaos.

For me, this was a tedious read. Most of the operations were illegal but no one seemed to mind. The hunt for who was hacking and the brain behind it was exhausting and predictable.

I can't say I would recommend it unless you are really bored and have nothing else to read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for a review.

I thought I would really love this book, sadly I just couldn't seem to get into it. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that it is a Tom Clancy spin off or if I just have no interest in the mystery of the novel.

I only made it about 20 pages in and I couldn't remember anything that happened in those 20 pages. I am so sorry I cannot give a better review than this.

Net Force: Dark Web, created by Tom Clancy and written by Jerome Preisler, is a technothriller set in the year 2023. Terrorists have figured out how to use unprotected smart products to commit their acts of terror against the United States. The president, foreseeing this inevitability, has been trying to form Net Force, a cabinet-level security force that uses the most advanced technology to protect us from such attacks. On the day and in the place that the president is announcing this new security force, an attack hits New York throwing the city into chaos and leaving little doubt to the necessity of the Net Force.

Favorite character :
Kali Alcazar the Outlier – she is a very complex character whose loyalties are always in question. She is smart, no-nonsense, and able to take down large bodyguards in a single blow…okay, that a little bit of an exaggeration, but she did take down a large bodyguard. Most importantly, she makes the right choices in hard situations.

What I Like About Net Force Dark Web

It is exceptionally well written. The dialogue flows naturally. There is just the right balance of dialogue and exposition, enabling the reader to maintain a fast pace. The flow from various parts of the story is logical and easy to follow. And, the story stays focused.

The story contains lots of near misses that keep you guessing and the pages flipping. This is an essential attribute for the genre and because the novel is so long. I was grateful that even though the book is pretty weighty in size, it’s still a compelling read, and I didn’t feel like I was reading over 700 pages.

The story is about technology, so there is lots of tech jargon. Fortunately, it is written in such a way that it is easy to understand. And, the technology in the story definitely adds a cool factor.

The topic of the story is timely. With all that is going on in the news lately, like concerns over other countries interfering in US elections by using the internet, readers can easily connect to this story and recognize the potential of it.

What I Wish About Net Force Dark Web

I wish the ending had been more conclusive. It ends on a ”to be continued” note, and I would have loved to have a few of the storylines wrapped up for the current story. I don’t want to say too much about this because I don’t want to reveal any spoilers.

To Read or Not to Read

Net Force Dark Web is an excellent read for people who like technothrillers or just thrillers in general. It was recommended to me because I love Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime, and I think that was a pretty accurate recommendation.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The present novel hails the resurrection of a series of books about an agency of the U.S. government that was created by Tom Clancy and written by Mr Preisler. Their mission was to fight Cyber crime and work in the futuristic world of high tech against any and all enemies that utilized the elements of that discipline to attack the country. This book is a high action novel describing the founding of the group by the President of the United States and showcasing the individuals that will probably lead it and staff it.
While still unnamed and against the advice of many government managers the group is called upon to find and stop hackers who have been attacking banks and looting their funds. The nature of the attacks and successes are causing major disruptions in the total order of commerce and monetary policy. The perpetrators are hidden from view due to the nature of the cyber attacks. Against the background of the American president calling a conference to announce the formation of the Net Force a serious public attack is launched to attempt an assassination of the president. The attack does lead to the deaths of many people and points out that the formation of the Cyber force is a necessity and an urgent one.
The novel follows the actions of various individuals that will later become part of the new agency. The probable leader of the group is depicted as demonstrating both quick and clear thinking and personal bravery in the face of the devastating attack against the President. Several individuals are also followed as they locate and fight against the leaders of the attack. The descriptions and actions of these people are well handled with their motivations and traits well delineated.
Mr Preisler is knowledgeable about the world of computers, the internet and their capability. His descriptions of causes and effects of actions of high tech instrumentation are well done and allow readers at all levels of knowledge to at, the very least grasp, the details of what is happening. Future novels about Net Force should be engrossing and interesting to both new and continuing readers of the books. It will come as no surprise that the present novel ends on the note of the arrival of a situation that requires the full attention of Net Force. I'm looking forward to that book as will anyone reading the present story.

I wasn't to sure what I was going to get out of this novel. But I am really glad that I picked this one up! This was stellar! It might be on the longer side but I flew though the pages in a day!! I loved the fast pace of the story and all the characters were wonderful. I am thinking that this is based on a tv show or something. And if it is I will totally have to check it out.

Full out action packed book. Several threads of separate stories that are pulled together to make an amazing story. Each separate story line is interesting but added the rest makes a book that is impossible to put down. Excellent!
