Okay, so this book intrigued me. I guess I kinda felt like reading a good book, so I was excited to dive into this. (like FOR REAL, the synopsis was so. cool. And I was like “wow, this is going to be such a super cool read). Am I saying the author is not talented? No. The synopsis ALONE was intriguing and well written enough to make me want to read this. I just didn’t read it because I like to stick to clean reads. I try to steer clear of books with unnecessary language. So there you have it!

Jessica May is a former model who has led an unconventional life. When her lover sells a picture of her to a magazine the in effect ends her career, Jessica uses her talent as a writer and photographer to become a femal war correspondent in Italy. Facing stereotypes and preconceptions about who she is, Jessica must find a way to show the people back home what the war is like.

This was a short excerpt, but it was enough to make me want to read more.

Having finished the first couple chapters in the extended preview of The Paris Orphan, I am putting this book by Natasha Lester at the top of my TBR. It has all of the elements of my kind of historical fiction novel of W.WII. I love two period novels and strong women characters. Jessica is moving from modeling to being a photo journalist being sent to occupied France.

Jessica May, an American model following her passion as a photojournalist, arrives in Italy in 1942 to cover the field hospitals in the midst of the war. Not accustomed to a woman near the battlefield, especially one with a reputation like Jessica's, many of the soldiers give her a hard time. Until she meets Dan Hallworth and an orphan, Victorine. With their help and inspiration, Jess is driven to uncover the humanity in wartime Europe.

This excerpt promises a touching, emotional, and compelling novel. It's a beautiful look into the strengths of the human spirit in the midst of the war, the bonds that motivate people to do the impossible, and the hope a child can bring. The characters were rich and dynamic, and the details about the war convey the strength it takes to make it through. I can't wait to read the entire book and see how their story unfolds.

This was an excerpt for The Paris Orphan by Natasha Lester. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the advance copy excerpt in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC of the first 5 chapters of the book Jessica was a model who wanted to be a photojournalist during World War II and she applied to go to where the war was. She finally got accepted and she went. She accidentally was on the front lines because the hospital was destroyed the night before that she was supposed to go to. The soldiers learned she was a model who lived with a man she wasn't married to but she held her own.
The characters kept my attention, the writing was so good that I could imagine being there, and no matter who you are or what you do you can do anything you want.
I will be finishing the book to find out the rest of the story. I am not usually a reader of war stories but this book told the story in such a personal way, it kept me reading until the end of the five chapters and now I am going to buy the book to finish it. It is a wonderful book.

The book Paris Orphan gripped my interest from the start. Jess’s story life story that changed from becoming a model to accept a position as a photographer suggested an in-depth life story of a woman during the Second World War. The book aims to describe the relationships between Jess, her friends and her previous lovers. The essence of the reading material focuses on the struggles and opportunities Jessie needed to face, especially during the war times. It also provides insight into the most difficult circumstances women needed to work and live.

The book offers a well-detailed explanation of war circumstances and the different roles people need to play. The book allows the reader to enjoy but also understand the seriousness of the time. I give Paris Orphan a thumbs up to any person that enjoys history combined with life experiences during the wartime. Jess' methods of dealing with dominant men, jealous women and most horror circumstances at the war hospitals provides an in-depth meaning of relevant events.

Jess aimed to contribute to society by investing her photographic skills in the most difficult times. This book presents a must-have for any reader who aims to gain insight into women's roles during the Second World War times.

I loved the preview of this book so much. It made me want to read more right away and I can't wait to finish the entire book. Jessica May is such a compelling female character! I also enjoyed the fact that this was a completely different facet to the genre of historical WWII fiction. I love that the focus is on a female photographer.

Great historical fiction novel and very unique as well!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the extended preview. I enjoyed what I read, especially it’s setting in wartime France during WWll with a woman photojournalist for Vogue that can literally hold her own with the GI’s. I love Jessica’s character, she’s a real pistol! Excited to learn more about the very likable Major Dan Hallworth and 4 year old Victorine, how they fit into the storyline.
Am counting down the hours to The Paris Orphan release date tomorrow, Sept/3/2019 to pick it back up.

I was able to read the five chapter preview of this book from Net Galley. I was completely captivated by the story and characters and can’t wait to read more! I hesitate giving the book 5 stars, because there is so much story left to tell. I’m anxious to read the rest of the book!

This was well written and seemed like a great read. I want to read the actual book. Too bad this is preview so I don't recommend anyone request this because you get left hanging. Im giving this a three just because a preview to me cannot be any higher than that.

I did not realize I was only receiving an extended preview of Natasha Lester’s book The Paris Orphan. I came to the end and was confused and disappointed that it was not the entire book. So far I do not love the characters and am not sure I will purchase the book to continue reading. It really did not hold my interest. For me to really love a book I need to find a connection to someone in the story and in this short preview I did not find a connection. Thank you NetGalley and Forever Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read this extended preview.

I flew through this extended preview! I am so excited for the book, I really appreciate the chance to start reading it early. This is a novel sent in the WW2 era and I am living for it. I love reading books that take place during this time period. This gave me some really good vibes and I can't wait to read the rest. The characters were being developed fairly well, though with such a small amount of the book I can't honestly tell you if they were completely fleshed out. But I look forward to the rest of it. Thanks Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read this little bit early!

I loved this preview. The author Natasha Lester managed to convey the problems that come with being a beautiful, smart and talented woman in a male dominated world. Although I have only read five chapters, I immediately want to read the whole book. The main problem being, I have to wait another month to finish reading this book.
Reading the early chapters Jessica May proved that she could hold her own in the fashion world where beautiful woman were wined and dined by rich and powerful men. Luckily for Jess, the war changed that, as nations turned to women to replace men to keep industries functioning, but would that last once the men returned home.
An endearing, sometimes funny story, beautifully written. Even based on such a short preview, I gave the book 5 stars.
