I really enjoyed reading Gracie's story. She wanted a family but, wow! She also wanted love in that family. Sometimes it felt like 2 steps forward and 1 great big one back. Enjoyed the way the story showed real emotions and family drama. I was gifted a copy, no review was required.. My review is voluntary

Five ***** stars: 5/5 star rating

Love it!!! I really felt for Gracie as she struggled to make the best of a fake and sad marriage. This book deals with suicide, marriage, and relationships. I don't think I've ever read an Amish book quite like it. I found that refreshing. I was highly intrigued by the characters as I read the story. Gracie and her sisters also have an interesting business which will delight readers and stir the senses.

I received a digital version of this book from netgalley and Zebra Publishing in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

I received an ARC copy if this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I did not know that this was part of a series and I thought it was a little hard to follow at the beginning with all the people being mentioned. But just a simple Amish romance novel.

Amy Lillard writes entertaining Amish fiction and has entertained me for hours on end. A Family for Gracie, takes a third daughter in the Glick family, and puts her in a marriage in name only, but with five children.

All Gracie wanted for all her life is a family of her own. Matthew Byler has a family of five children--four boys and a baby girl. The boys are just ordinary boys, sometimes rambunctious, sometimes awfully sweet, and sometimes just boys. Gracie sees that the one thing this little family needs is a mother. She proposes to Matthew and he accepts as long as the wedding is soon.

This was a marriage of miscommunication from the start. Gracie wanted a full marriage and Matthew wanted only the convenience of having Gracie mother his children and do his housework for him.

Amy has taken a common problem in many marriages and turned it into a plot that will entertain and enlighten her readers. How she used the lack of communication in the book is something people can take to use in their own lives where there is a breakdown of communication.

This is a five-star book with two thumbs up and a family in need of a mother.

My thanks go to Zebra Publishing and NetGalley.com for providing the galley I read.

I loved this book. Gracie would be a person that I’d want as a close friend. She’s quiet, but funny, loving, and loyal. Gracie has been desperately wanting a family of her own. Matthew is a widower trying to take care of his children on his own. Her impulsive marriage proposal to Matthew Byler seems to Gracie to be one of her most embarrassing moments. But Matthew desperately needs a mother to take care of his four boys and baby daughter, and after some thought, decides to take Gracie up on her proposal. Because of some miscommunication before they marry, they begin their marriage with conflicting expectations.

There are some amusing, heartwarming moments with Gracie and the four boys. There’s also some more serious moments as Matthew struggles with the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death, and Gracie and Matthew need to resolve their own marriage expectations. I was at times very aggravated at Matthew and wanting to push Gracie forward a little bit more. This is one of Amy Lillard’s best books yet, and I’m hoping that we’ll see more of this family in another book.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Gracie is 26 years old, she's never married and has no children. As she's getting older she's wanting that. A family of her own. So when she finds out recently widower Matthew Byler is available. She decides to approach him. He has four boys and a little infant daughter Gracie. She knows that he is going to need help with them. One day she decides to approach Matthew. She gets enough courage that she ask him to marry her.

What will Matthew say? Will he want to get married so soon after losing his wife? You need to read this book. I was hooked from the first sentence.

Gracie and Mathew come together in a most unusual way. Gracie feels old and wants a family of her own. Mathew needs help with his five children. This story brings them together in a wonderful way and then they need to work out all the troubles that come along. I love how they work through their problems. I really like both of these characters. I did not want to put this book down. I also loved the four boys and one girl that Mathew brings to the table. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

A Family for Gracie is a marvelous book. It's a type of book that will take your mind, heart and soul and keep you interested from beginning to the end. The characters are excellent, especially having some humor. The storyline is different than many books, but that's one thing bringing more interest. A Family for Gracie is Book Three of the Amish of Pontotoc series, but I believe you could read this as a stand alone book. I highly recommend this book by Author Amy Lillard.

I received a copy from NetGalley, but was not required to review it. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

I loved this book. It avoided the pitfall of the "for convenience only but we'll fall in love but be terrified that the other isn't" type storyline. I loved getting to know the characters especially Henry. I loved Henry. The other kids were great but Henry just got me or is it I just got him.
The writing flows nicely with plausible progressions. I loved the fumbling of Gracie and Matthew as they deal with the unconventionality of their situation. Learning each other and themselves as well as their new family. I love the comedic play of Mathew and Gracie interacting with the various children also the children themselves especially Henry.
This book is the third in the series and a few characters from the other books made appearances. Having not read the previous books I didn't feel lost or disadvantaged but I've since gotten the first book since I've enjoyed this one so much.

This is the third book in this series, and I am happy to be back with the Glick family, and continuing on with their lives. Yes, this book can be read alone, and the author gives us lots of information to keep us up to date, but you will quickly want to pick up the past two books!
This is Gracie’s story, a woman who always ready to give the extra hand to help those in need, and she sure goes the extra mile in this story.
Matthew Byler is now a struggling widower with five children, and boy is he having a hard time, he has a newborn daughter and four rambunctious boys, and never a dull moment. With his close family so far away, he is struggling to keep it together with the farm and needy children, even with some help from the community.
Enter our Gracie, with her heart so big, but wow, I can’t even imagine doing what she wants to do.
Will this ever work out? Can someone slip into another shoes so quickly, and can Andrew move on and live his faith?
We find answers here, and boy will some of the happenings are really going to surprise you!
Is Tillie coming home? Will we get another book? Sure, hope so, I love being with the Pontotoc Amish!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kennsington, and was not required to give a positive review.

A Family for Gracie was such a wonderful story! I love marriage of convenience tropes and this one provided great angst and tension due to some assumptions and unfulfilled hopes that Gracie had for what her life would look like once she was married to Matthew.

I loved the caring, sweet person that Gracie was. She worked so hard to be a good mother to Matthew’s children and hoped to be a good wife to Matthew. Her disappointment at finding out that Matthew did not want to add any more children to the family or have a true marriage was palpable.

This story addressed, in a gentle and effective manner, the topics of depression, guilt, and the desire to belong to a family. It is book three in the Amish of Pontotoc series. It was fun to see familiar faces in this story, yet I believe that A Family for Gracie could also be enjoyed as a stand alone novel.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

A family for Gracie
Matthew lost his wife not too long after having a baby. Gracie decides to ask him to marry her. She wants a family.
I love a book with children in it. Matthew definitely had his hands full. The baby crying all the time. Twin boys and another boy. Henry was accident prone. So Matthew decided he needed help. Gracie has a lot to handle after they got married.
Gracie wants more children of her own but Matthew is scared too. Will he change his mind? Read and see.
I received an advanced copy of the book from NetGalley through the author. This review is my own opinion.

Why does Grace hate me? Matthew Byler couldn’t figure out why his baby daughter was so unhappy and always squalling. He was recently widowed with four small boys and a baby girl that cried all the time. For him anyway.

Gracie Glick, as well as other women in the district, took meals to the family. Gracie longed for a family but, so far, she hadn’t been blessed with one. Gracie had come up with the perfect plan. Matthew needed a mother for his children and she needed a family.

Would Matthew think she was insane? Could this actually be God’s plan for them? Would Matthew even agree to such a thing?

Read Gracie and Matthew’s story. You’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

A Family for Gracie
Amy Lillard

A Family for Gracie by Amy Lillard is book three in her Amish of Pontotoc series. Though part of a series, this novel reads well as a standalone.

Gracie Glick is a 26-yr-old self-proclaimed Amish spinster who takes care of everyone around her, often going from home to home helping, especially family. She wants her own family more than anything else. Her dreams of a home and family of her own lead her to boldly propose to Matthew Byler, a recently widowed member of the community.

Matthew Byler has five children young children to care for, one of whom appears to hate him. Working to provide for his family while caring for his home and children is slowly driving him insane. Matthew needs but doesn’t want a wife. He reluctantly agrees to Gracie’s proposal.

Following his wife’s death, Matthew promised himself he would never love or marry another woman. He has broken his vow to never remarry for the sake of his children, who desperately need a Mamm (mother). He doesn’t want more children and thinks he has communicated this to Gracie but she misunderstands and thinks he just wants to take it slow. Gracie is devastated when she finally realizes that Matthew doesn’t want more children and expected a marriage of convenience. Will Matthew and Gracie be able to overcome their preconceived notions and build a real marriage and family?

A Family for Gracie is a beautiful Christian romance. Lillard confronts an important issue often downplayed in traditional society, and is hardly ever considered in Amish communities. Her characters are sincere and relatable. The story is interesting and easy to follow. The overriding theme of “God’s will” is compelling. This novel is inspirational and I truly enjoyed it. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of chaste romance, especially Amish romance. If you don’t enjoy novels with religious themes, this is not the book for you.

My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

What a truly refreshing story with a vivid description of the Amish way of life. This story will capture your heart and bring you a relaxing, read that is engaging and enjoyable. Gracie was a kind and lovable character and her gentle loving spirit broke through the pain of losing a mate and mother. I know you will enjoy reading this book as much as I did.

I laughed and cried while reading A Family for Gracie and it was a book that continued to stay with me for a long time.

Gracie was hoping and longing for a family but sometimes wishes don't turn out as rosy as you think. Then, of course you think everyone must know what as happened. If you live in a small Amish community like Pontotoc, if you not careful they will.

I applaud Gracie for being so bold and she remained my favorite character throughout. She knew what she wanted and didn't care to try. At the same time I felt so sorry for Matthew in is time of grief. A grief described so well that I fully understood all the feelings he was having.

Touching on Amish traditions, family, grief, forgiveness, and a steadfast faith that God will see you throughout, it was a wonderful read! .

I was given a copy of the book by Netgalley but was not required to give a positive review.

The third in the Pontotoc Mississippi series features Gracie, an Amish woman who is desperately wanting a family. Matthew Byler, a young widower has his hands full with five young children. I love the four Byler boys and all their antics which is so like young boys. Gracie's love and care for the children shines on this story. The ending is rather predictable but the story is sweet. God's will is always the best way! Recommended!

This is book 3 in the Pontotoc series. Been really good series. Always are well written by Amy Lillard. Always waiting on her next book to come out. Gracie is a gal of pure heart. Always their to help anyone. But she is now getting to wear she wants to do this but for a family of her own. not many single men living in Pontotoc and when she sees Matthew is recently widowed he may need a wife to be a mother to his children. So instead of waiting on him to ask her out she takes the upper hand and ask him first. Now this is just not heard of. Especially from Amish. What must he think of her being so forward? Will he accept? Or will he just ignore her? Get the book and see whats next in Graceie's life.

A Family for Gracie is a delightful and sweet story that takes place in a small Amish community in Mississippi. Gracie's parents and brothers have all died but she is very close to her aunt Eunice, cousins Leah, Hannah and Tillie. She moves around helping relatives that need her help. But all she really wants is her own family to love and take care of. Matthew Byler, a recent widower with four young boys and a baby girl, needs help so she proposes to him but he turns her down. Initially. Then he reconsiders. Theirs is a marriage in name only. She gets her family and he gets a housekeeper and nanny. It is a touching story of young children who come to love and depend on their new mamm. But will their dad move past his grief and past guilt to accept Gracie into the family? Gracie accepts her life as God's will and tries to help Matthew see how God's will is present in his life.
