This first book in a new series follows a real formula.

The female protagonist is either widowed or divorced. She sinks all her money into a B&B and then finds out it is haunted and the ghost wants her to solve their murder.
I easily guessed the whodunit by the not so subtle clues.

However, something about the characters was entertaining and I would read the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I loved this book! The main character Charlene is drawn so well I felt as if we could be friends. The Salem, Mass setting could have been hokey but Traci Wilton was able to let us see a beautiful old town full of history, and wonderful inhabitants.

Charlene buys a house in Salem intending to open a B & B. Her husband has died and she wants to make a new start. Jack the previous owner is still a presence and wants Charlene to find out who killed him so he can move on. It's a promising start to a new series and there's an interesting twist at the end.

I enjoyed this book. I do think that sections of it dragged out longer than they needed to. For a while the pacing of the investigating and the discovery of clues is really slow. It felt like nothing was happening. I liked the ending though, very unexpected. #MrsMorrisAndTheGhost #NetGalley

A great start to a mystery series. Charlene, a 40+ widow from Chicago, decides to make a new start and buys a 7 bedroom mansion in Salem, MA without viewing it first. Needless to say, she finds company already there, in the form of Jack, the previous owner of 3 years back, who died in a fall. Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot, and found it hard to put down, and I liked that the killer wasn't too obvious. I did find the jealousy of Jack a bit much though, and a little creepy, and more on the real estate agent would have helped. Looking forward to the next book in the series, as there is a couple of chapter teaser in the back. Also like the cat, who decided she was her new owner. Highly recommend this book and author.

Totally delightful cozy mystery!! Will be offering this at the store for sure! I am only disappointed with the fact that it will be a while before the next in the series is available! Am interested to see how the relationships pan out.

I liked this story. It is a good start to a new series. I enjoy cozies with a paranormal twist. I usually give a cozy a five star if the author keeps me guessing until the end on who the killer is, however there are a couple of questionable behaviors of the character, Charlene. I admit that thinking back on all the clues the author dropped about the killer should have had me guess, but they were subtle enough to throw me off. That is an awesome plus for this story. I was also super excited that the main character was in her 40's. Usually we see late 20's to early 30's. As I am in my 40's, it was great. One questionable area was that Charlene was really pushy with people and didn't seem to be making friends. It will be odd if these same people are friendly with her in future novels (if they are included). My other thought was her emotional attachment to the resident ghost, Jack. I won't go into detail but remember that she is already a grieving widow running from her problems. But all in all a good read and I will be waiting for the next one in the series.

You can't have Salem without witches, ghosts, and goblins which make a great setting for this new start in a haunted house mystery. Well developed characters and an interesting mystery to keep you guessing. Loved this one.

Charlene move to Salem, trying to move on after the tragic death of the husband to open a B&B, but what’s Salem without Witches, Ghouls, Goblins, but in this case it’s the Ghost of the former owner of the house she’d bought. Jack Strathmore unable to move on believing he has some unfinished business to attend too enlists Charlene’s help to delve into his unexpected death three years prior.
With plenty of suspects to choose from, likable characters, a feline stowaway and a temperamental Ghost to boot, this book is a charm. Very enjoyable, cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Thank you net galley for the opportunity to review this book. Opinions are expressly my own.

Mrs Morris and the Ghost is a first in a series by Traci Wilton. This is a cozy mystery with supernatural element added as well.

I love Charlene. I feel like most of us gals can relate to her in one way or another. She is stronger then she realizes, and though heartbroken over the sudden loss of her husband Jared 18 months ago, she is trying to pick herself up and create a world where she can one day be happy again by moving to Salem, Massachusetts and buying a large house to turn into a B&B.

The mystery element and the supernatural aspect go hand in hand as she tries to help solve the suspicious death of the house’s previous owner Jack.

I enjoyed the mystery and also enjoyed the connection that Charlene and Jack had during the book.

Without giving it all away, I also really like the end. Truly.

I am excited for more from this great Author and series.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington for this awesome ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

As a first in a new series, Mrs. Morris and the Ghost is an exciting addition to this genre.
Charlene Morris is looking for a new start. After the tragic loss of her soul mate, moving to Salem, MA is just what she needs. The home she purchased is better than expected, the town is full of wonderful people, and her bed and breakfast is already getting reservations.
What Charlene didn't expect was to be sharing her house with its former owner.

I loved everything about this book. The story was interesting, the characters are very likable and colorful and the story flowed from beginning to end, leaving me guessing all the way.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read an advanced copy of the book.
I'm really looking forward to reading more in this series.

Looking for a way to soothe her broken heart after the loss of the husband, Charlene leaves Chicago for Salem, Massachusetts and a worn down mansion she hopes to turn into a B and B. Right away she meets a very good looking man, the only problem is that he is also a dead man. Jack tells Charlene that he knows he was murdered in the very same house three years before and he want her to figure out who did him in. Until he knows, Jack won’t be able to rest in peace. Charlene agrees to help, but she’s come to think of Jack as her ghost, and she’s not sure she wants him to leave. This sweet story of a widow making her way forward will charm readers
