At first i didnt know that was a part of a series. I didnt read any of the other books, so had some trouble getting into it.
But once you get the hang of the story it was really good. Very well written and absolutely enjoyable

I was unaware that this is the 4th in a series however it can be still read as a stand-alone. I plan to go back and read the others in the series because I enjoyed the protagonist and the storyline built around her.
What a dark twisted and complex story and the development of the main character is on point.
I gave it 5 stars and would like to thank Kensington and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this fantastic book.

A Killing Secret by Robert Dunn
This is the 4th book in this series and can be read as a stand alone with no problems however I know I'd like to go back and read the first books if even to better understand the protagonist and her issues. Well written story with fleshed out characters kept my attention and I will be looking for more from this author! Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for this book and allowing me to leave my opinion.

A Killing Secret is Book 4 of the Katrina Williams series, which I did not realize when requesting this book. In general, I like to read the series in order since I find that you miss out on the development of the character when you jump midway into a series. This was no exception, but as I got further into the story, the more entranced I became.. Williams is a seriously flawed heroine battling her own demons She is called Hurricane and seems to be angry at everyone and everything and trusts no one. She investigates the claim of a valuable timber theft and stumbles across the body of young woman. Williams goes on to try and solve the murder and comes across several other nasty misdeeds as well.
The author does a great job of bringing all the threads together for an exciting finale to a complex and somewhat dark story. I will be going back to book one and may re-read this one as I am sure it will be just as compelling the second time around.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A Killing Secret (A Katrina Williams Novel Book 4)

A fast-paced murder investigation.

Detective Katrina Williams is investigating trees being logged illegally on Hosea Fisher’s property. As she approaches the trees, she finds the body of a young girl. Shot execution-style. The body is that of Rose Sharon. A young up-and-coming singer. Who would want to destroy this young singer who is just getting started and finding fame as a singer? It’s up to Katrina to solve the murder, especially as the Sheriff, Billy Blevins, seems to have a connection to Rose. His reticence to discuss his relationship with Rose leaves Katrina with far more questions than answers.

This book is a brilliant novel as it’s full of drama! Fights! Attacks! Shooting! Katrina is the one who seems to be at the centre of all the arguments – I couldn't count how many times she personally got beaten up. How many times she lands in the hospital, only to pull out all the cannulas and sign herself out of the hospital with a concussion so that she can continue to find the baddies in this complicated murder-mystery.

It’s the first time I’ve met Katrina (Hurricane) Williams. Hopefully, not the last. I loved all the fights and drama she gets herself into. I’ve not read such a drama-filled book for ages.

Katrina Williams is back again, this time investigating the murder of a rising star, Rose Sharon. Her romance with Sheriff Blevin is extremely rocky, especially when she begins to question what kind of relationship he had with the deceased.

This was an imaginative and well written novel. Robert Dunn has woven a masterpiece that has corruption and deception at it's best. It had me completely guessing until the very end. If you really like suspenseful crime novels then this is the book for you!

This is the first book I’ve read in this series and I know I will be getting the others. Even though it is not the first in the series, I had no trouble enjoying it as a stand alone. I loved the characters and the story.

The characters were relatable and real and felt like people I could meet anywhere. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Katrina.

Sheriff's Detective Katrina Williams is called "Hurricane" for a reason. Suffering PTSD from her army days, she is angry all the time, and has severe trust issues. She's seeing a therapist as a condition for keeping her job. Her boss just happens to be Sheriff Billy Blevins .... her boyfriend.

While Katrina is investigating the theft of valuable walnut trees, she stumbles across the body of Sharon Rose, an up and coming country western singer. She has been shot in the head ..execution style.

What she discovers during this murder exploration, she finds that Billy knew the young girl ... but exactly how well did he know her? Katrina finds pictures of them together, his guitar is in her house. But Billy isn't talking. Is he somehow connected to her death?

Secrets and suspects abound, even in the singer’s own family, and the key to the murder may lie in the lyrics of what is now her swan song …

I started reading this series when the first book was published ... and I am so glad I did. This has been a terrific series with a seriously flawed female detective taking center stage. She's had quite a ride since the early days. I highly recommend starting at the very beginning.

This is a well written crime fiction with memorable characters. Plenty of suspects holds the reader's attention .. right up to the exciting finale.

Many thanks to the author / Kensington Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

The fourth, and probably final book in this series, was an excellent read. I loved this series and the main character, Katrina. Robert Dunn is as fantastic at creating characters as he is writing mysteries. I thought the conversation between Katrina and her therapist was spot on and couldn't have sounded more authentic. I really dig how Katrina and Billy dealt with their long and complicated relationship. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good mystery. In addition, I would recommend Robert's books to anyone, he is one hell of a great writer.

A Killing Secret by Robert E. Dunn is the 4th book in the Katrina Williams mystery series, and my first book by this author. Sheriff detective Katrina “Hurricane” Williams is investigating stolen walnut trees when she stumbles across a dead body in the snow. Since this is my first book in the series, I felt a little loss with the characters and background in the story. Katrina suffers from PTSD, and she is really messed up. She has an odd relationship with the Sheriff Billy Blevins, who is her boss and boyfriend, but he is being secretive about his relationship with the dead girl she just found. I found this book to be interesting, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys hard hitting mysteries. This book also contains a lot of violence.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

I've really enjoyed all of the books in this series. The characters are well developed, which makes the stories so much better. The back story evolves throughout the series, yet each can be read as a stand alone, while Robert Dunn weaves a new crime scene or two into each book. This time a mundane crime investigation turns into a murder scene which turns into a personal situation when it looks as if our favorite sheriff has a "past" with the victim. The story unfolds with a few quick twists that prevents the reader from figuring out "who done it" before we catch all of the clues and then the bad guy. Another great installment in a great series.

A Killing Secret by Robert E. Dunn
Katrina Williams #4

Katarina is still dealing with the ghosts of her past but she is moving forward with her life and seems slightly more in control in this book than she was in the last one. I get her and really admire her ability to have survived all that she has and keep going. I am hoping this won’t be the end of the series!

Sent out to follow up on a claim of the theft of timber leads Katarina to a fresh crime scene where she finds not only the loss of high end furniture grade trees but also the body of a young woman murdered and dumped there. Who killed Rose Sharon and why? Katarina calls in the situation and then begins to look for clues to who might have killed this beautiful young woman and why it happened.

Needless to say, it is not enough to solve one murder mystery and find a timber thief...nope...Katarina ends up in quite a few volatile situations that see her bruised and battered as she follows leads hoping to find out more. She learns of a: protection racket, a timber theft ring, stalker, rapist...and more. She continues to deal with her past, hold herself apart and wants for things she seems afraid to verbalize.

This is a complex, dark, gritty story that I could not put down once I began reading. I love the way the author draws all of the little and large pieces of the story together while building to the finale. I also enjoyed learning more about Missouri – the state my daughter and her husband live in.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Will I read more by this author? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Lyrical Underground for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I thought A Killing Secret was not so good. I just do not think it was a book for me. I would rate it two stars.

This rural noir procedural is ostensibly about who killed Sharon Rose, a young singer, and her hateful family but it's really, at least for me, about Katrina Williams. Katrine ("Hurricane") has PTSD and lots of issues. She's pretty much closed herself off from others but she did let Sheriff Billy Blevins in an inch or so and now he's pushed her away because he's got a past with the victim. Katrina's beginning to expand her world thanks to therapy and is responding better to others. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is a short (but really just right) read that will pull you in.

A KILLING SECRET is probably my favorite of the (now) four Katrina Williams books by author Robert Dunn due mainly to its ending. It took a decidedly unexpected turn - at least for me. And I was not at all disappointed.

This is an action packed novel, pure escapism, and sure to take your mind off whatever it needs diversion from. There are fights, car chases, fights, brawls, fights, did I mention fighting? Oh, and murder.

You can pick this up and read it without having read the others. Then do yourself a favor and go back and read the first three and see how it started. Each is a stand alone novel and good fun.
