A fun romance, She's Got Game was entertaining. This first book I've read by this author and I hope it not the last.

The story is about Gwen Williams, a travel blogger who is competing in the annual Explorers of Islay event. Well-crafted characters and a fun read make this one I highly recommend.

Yeah... i had really hoped this was going to be a funny, cute and adorable story.
But...i was left mostly bored? the characters were okay at best, but didn`t feel the chemistry.

The concept and writing were wonderful and I definitely saw the potential in the romance a few times. However, the main character could be very hard to stomach at times. She was a little judgemental, which didn't always make for a pleasant experience being inside her head.

It was a cute story to read. It is a great story for teenagers to read, but for adults a bit predictable. I will tell my students about this book.

This had an interesting premise, but in the end it didn't hold my attention. Tone and personality of the main character are so important, and unfortunately I didn't care for Gwen's.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review She's Got Game. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book and won't be rating or reviewing at this time. Should I decide to give it another chance down the road, I will rate and review on my blog, Goodreads and retailers at that time.

This story was a fun, sweet, and enjoyable look into the board gaming world. I was very intrigued by the journey that Gwen takes throughout this story. Gwen competes in board game tournaments that are similar to dungeons and dragons. During this year's competition, Gwen has to go against the reigning champion that has recently moved into her area of play. Cody is that reigning champion, and he finds Gwen very attractive and intense. However, due to Gwen's trust and abandonment issues, she has a hard time believing what Cody is proposing. There is a lot of board game talk, so even though I am not a gamer in that area, I wasn't overwhelmed or lost following the storyline.

Oh, my. It really helps when reading a book you can root for the main character in the book. However, with Gwen I could not. I feel that Cody deserved better than he got with Gwen.

Unfortunately I just had an extremely difficult time connecting to this book. I didn’t love the characters and the story line was lackluster.

Was good but felt really similar to some other books I have recently read. I didn't feel like there was anything new in the storyline.

I wanted to love this book so much. But i just couldn’t connect with the characters and storyline. It is book one in a series which sometimes makes it the setting up book so I will totally read book two.

Board games in a novel: I love this concept! It's unique and the author knows how to tell a story. The book has romance, strong characters and an interesting premise. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

This is the first book in a new series by Laura Heffernan. Gwen is a travel blogger who loves games and comes into contact with Cody McCay in a kind of cut throat game competition called the American Board Game Championship. Idk. I really wanted to like this book and the follow up, but maybe all the heroine only POV was just too much--being in her head was too much and she made a lot of decisions that were fueled be emotional drama I didn't really understand. Perhaps just not my cup of tea.

I really wanted to like this book. It has a cute premise, the heroine is a travel blogger and a competitive board gamer. She meets her number one game rival and he’s handsome and attracted to her. She’s got some mommy issues and general commitment issues that cause her to be mean to the hero and reject his advances. It got to 50% and had to give up. I could not find anything likable about the heroine and it made me wonder why the hero would like her. Gwen is so afraid of love and losing love that she is paralyzed by it and refuses (at least by the 50% mark) to give Cody the benefit of the doubt about ANYTHING. It got old and annoying.

The best part of the book was the hints at the love match for book two, which seems to be Gwen’s best friend and Gwen’s father.

This was just okay for me. I didn't really care for the main character, and that dislike made it hard for me to overlook other things that might not would have usually bothered me. She's always jumping to bad conclusions, and has a bad habit of looking at almost every single character in terms of whether or not she finds them attractive. She isn't a very good friend and she's really terrible to her crush. Cody isn't EVER trying to just seduce her, and that's clear to everyone except for Gwen. With that said, I'm kind of into Holly's story...

This book was pretty good. I was expecting it to be a little different than it was but overall I enjoyed it. The cover is a pretty accurate on what this book is about.

I wanted to like this book way more than I did. At first, I enjoyed Gwen's character and I love that she's bi! But as the book went on, she seemed more and more annoying and had way too much drama/trauma. Then again, there are people whose lives seem to be a never-ending drama, so maybe it's not too far-fetched. However, for a main character, I didn't find her very likable. The pacing also seemed to be a bit slow, and I found myself thinking the dialogue sounded immature? Maybe that's just me though. Overall, the book was okay, but it was hard for me to get over some of these things and really enjoy it.

I like the idea of this more than the execution of it. (3.5 stars - WHY DO WE NOT HAVE .5 stars????) I love board games and love the idea of a tournament for them and know that exists. Gwen is great and the friend group is pretty great as well. I just didn't love how set in her ways she was. I got that she had a bad experience in her past and how that would color how she went forward but she didn't evolve until literally the very very end of the book. She constantly assumed the worst of Cody and I wanted that to change sooner.
