Another delightful edition to the guild hunter series. I really enjoy this author's work. This series have became a favorite of mine. We have waited a long time for Illium's story.. I feel like with all that build up the expectations were high and so there was so much anticipation leading up to this one. Because of that it fell a little short for me like it did for others.. There was nothing wrong with this story and I enjoyed it however it just fell a little flat. Maybe if his story came sooner.? I do not know. It was enjoyable none the less.

A dynamic reading that furthurs the storyline while opeing the doors to many more stories. An action packed adventure that flirts steadily with the ever growing love affair between Raphael and Elena. Fans of this series will fall in love all over again as Singh continues to enchant and tantilize readers with her gift.

The stunning season finale to the Guild Hunter series! Nalini Singh writes such rich and evocative books that you'll forget that you're not living in the story yourself.
Archangel's War picks up exactly as Archangel's Prophecy ended in that dramatic cliffhanger. We find out what happens to Elena and build to the crescendo of the Cascade. I'll be honest, I was pretty upset with how Archangel's Prophecy left us in 2018 and I joined the outcry looking for reassurance from N. Singh. I do understand now though. That really was the most natural break between books and Archangel's War was undoubtedly worth the wait.
I loved getting to see so many side characters but my favorite moments were always those between Elena and Raphael. I cannot wait to see where the series goes next. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Hummingbird is ready to tell us her story since I'm almost positive that we need to hear from her before Bluebell's story.

With the cliffhanger ending of the last book in the series, many readers are biting their nails to see what will come of Elena and Raphael in this installment. As a fan of this series, I was very much looking forward to see what Nalini Singh would do and I’m happy to note that she really went above and beyond what I expected and delivered an epic story for her readers.

ARCHANGEL’S WAR is the twelfth book in the Guild Hunter series and I would definitely recommend reading this series in order. This book has multiple POVs in it although quite a lot of it revolves around Raphael and Elena who are the main couple of the series. There were times when I wished a new couple was featured in this books, but this was one of those times when I was happy to see an update on Elena and Raphael again.

I truly believe that their romance continues to develop and bloom even though we’ve technically seen many happily ever afters for them already. Raphael has quickly become one of my favorite heroes of this year with his devoted love for Elena. I mean, he literally gives his heart to her. How much more could you ask from an archangel?

I’m giving this book five stars, which for me is a big deal now. I have only giving 5 stars to only one other book I’ve read this year, but I like to save this rating for books that I truly think deserve it. ARCHANGEL’S WAR definitely deserves all the 5-star ratings!

Archangel’s War is not as strong as others in the series but still a good read. It will be interesting to see where the series goes from here.

An excellent addition to the Archangel's series. It was an emotional Rollercoaster, but I enjoyed every minute. Highly recommend.

Unbelievably good read…

The Guild Hunters are back and I couldn’t wait to find out what was next for everyone and especially Elena and Raphael! The cliffhanger from Archangel’s Prophecy was ridiculously cruel (in the best reading way of course) so finding out what was next was critical to my fictional world well-being. No joke! And now… I want to tell ALL the secrets. Or at least hint at them so you can savour all the revelations yourself.

Elena and Raphael’s journey took another crazy, dangerous turn and this turn meant the whole world was at stake. How it unfolded was sinfully good reading as the bond between the courageous ex-mortal and her devoted Archangel deepened. I love these characters. Elena’s deprecating humour, the vulnerability she shared with few while her strength and intelligence were used for the good of all. Raphael is the quintessential alpha male with a scary strong exterior hiding the melt-iness he felts for those he loves. Especially his Elena… *swoon*

This instalment felt like two wonderful books in one. The first half had Elena and Raphael at its core. To say I could feel the love they shared is an understatement. Their beautiful intimacy was on full display and invited the reader (happily me!) to share in it with them. With their family around them (both blood and chosen), theirs was a heart-melting love story continued. In the second half of the book, the world exploded around them bringing so many from their world – friend and foe – shoulder to shoulder once again. Fighting the clock and a puzzle they were determined to solve, it was all hands on deck in a stunning battle where the winner was anything but assured…

If you are a fan like me this will feel like it was – reading candy of the highest order. If you are debating starting this series I can only say this. BEGIN NOW! These stories take me to another world where anything is possible. One I don’t want to leave after the last page is done…

In the Archangel Lijuan, Nalini Singh has created a character that is (in my opinion) one of the creepiest villains ever. The atmosphere of this book is intense and so gripping because you have this devastating evil that is capable of unmaking the world as you know it. Archangel's War is aptly named as Rafael, Elena and their allies face-off against the Archangel Lijuan. This is a fascinating series' to which Archangel's War is an enthralling addition!

The twelfth book in the Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series has been eagerly awaited by long-time fans after the excruciatingly tense way the previous book, Archangel’s Prophecy ended. In this book Singh brings to a close the long-running Cascade storyline, but not before nearly shattering the world, Raphael and Elena, and their people in an intense showdown between the most powerful members of the Archangelic ruling Cadre.

The stakes were high, and so are the casualties however Singh manages to craft a satisfying and affirming resolution while seeding new storylines and fresh conflicts that ensure readers will be eager to return for more. If you are interested in trying the series, it is best to start at the beginning, as Singh has built up an intricate world, with cut-throat and deadly powers, competing agendas and shifting allegiances. Singh manages not to lose sight of its large ensemble cast, crafting complex character journeys that have readers anticipating and speculating future protagonists and romantic pairings. I came late to the punishing and brutal world of the Guild Hunters but I am now deeply invested in it and I worried, cried and rushed through the book to learn the fate of my favorite characters.

While the Guild Hunter series is certainly not for everyone due to its cruel ethos and often violently gory storytelling, there are also deeply beautiful moments that celebrate friendship, loyalty and humanity. Having seen what Singh has crafted in her second Psy-Changeling series, I am deeply curious about what new challenges await Raphael, Elena, the Seven, and everyone else in future Guild Hunter books.

Suspenseful and emotionally intense, Archangel’s War propels readers through a searing journey that pays off long-running storylines and sets the stage for new beginnings, making it a must read for Guild Hunter fans.

I found the war between the archangels to be a satisfying conclusion to the tension that was brewing since the first novel. Ms. Singh delivered a fast paced well written novel with well developed characters that continued to grow with every turn of the page. If you haven't read this series, pick up a copy of Archangel's Blood today and start a supernatural journey that you will never want to end.

So, so good. This one was action packed from beginning to end. So much happens in this book. I don't want to talk specifics as I don't want to spoil anyone. Just know that all the regulars are here and the relationships are as gorgeous as ever (not only between Raphael and Elena but between them and their friends). I can't wait to see what is going to happen in the next installment.

If you like Singh's Guild Hunter series, you will enjoy Archangels's War. Singh tells a great story and clerverly solved the cliffhanger of the previous book. The first 2/3 of the book was very engaging but the battle scenes in the end dragged on and felt a little repetitive. An enjoyable read that builds excitement for the next installment.

I always recommend the Archangel series for a reader who likes to become totally immersed in another world and still know there’s a romance lurking about! Of course Archangel’s War is even more complex and thrilling than the previous books in the series- The story has been building and building towards this exact scenario.
Nail I Singh is just a master of the romance fantasy genre - her characters continue to be multi-dimensional complex and so compelling. Because of the multi layered plot line I strongly recommend the new reader to this series begin at the beginning to get the full effect of this incredible series! Fantastic, yet again!

Sometimes, when you are met with a person who is the master of their craft, the only thing you can do is sit back in awe.

This book was so freaking good. Archangel's War is the climax of a battle brewing for book after book in the series. It was so big, it could have easily served as a finale (though thankfully it's not.) And if this had been the last book I ever read in the Guild Hunter world, I would have walked away 100% satisfied.

Like everyone else, I finished Archangel's Prophecy with my jaw hanging open, because that cliffhanger was a doozy. And the way Nalini Singh answered the question of what Raphael and Elena would become--both individually and as two parts of a whole--wasn't as simple as slapping a label on either one of them. It was a complex puzzle, unwrapped over the course of the book, but it was done just right. I never felt like I was being strung along or given half-answers, it just unfolded as it needed to.

This is the big battle with Lijuan and Singh pulls out all the stops. Not only is the entire Cadre heavily involved, but so are many of the ancients. We learn about archangels who helped shape this world and the lives of characters we've grown to love. There is a ton of action, but also heart. I swear I cried in the scene where the Legion recognized they were loved. And I read the entire last act on the edge of my seat.

So many threads come together, showcasing the exquisite worldbuilding. So many characters stand up to be counted. Everyone we've met serves a purpose. And at the heart of it all is this sweeping, huge, amazing love between Elena and her archangel.

I don't want to spoil the details, but I will say if you are not reading these books, you are missing out. This is was an installment worth my years of investment in this series. Simply fantastic.

Once again, Nalini Singh does not disappoint with her Archangel series. Raphael and Elena have no idea how long they have been in their “sleep”, but it’s been a long time. Many of their friends were worried about this and were relieved when they finally awakened. But what’s going to happen? Is Lijuan coming back and will she been more powerful? Where is she getting her power from? OMG, what she does to get her power. Story made me mad, but I knew Raphael and Elena would conquer all, just not sure how they would accomplish that. Fans of Singh’s series will find this a good addition to the story.

Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi

Raphael and Elena finally awaken from their sleep, neither knowing what to expect or even how long they were out. The chrysalis was too small for Elena and it ended up costing her the wings she had grown to love. She is devastated to be grounded, once again, after discovering the joy of flight. However, the cascade has caused strange things to happen and all hope is not lost.

Strange things are happening across the globe, causing several ancients to awaken from their sleep before they are ready.

Lijuan’s power is growing and she’s found a new way to cross the moral line, using children to infiltrate other lands. She now believes herself to be a Goddess, and when she finally brings war to the cadre, they discover that she just might be indestructible.

I’ve struggled with this series for the last several books, and this has by far been the hardest one for me to read. I find books about fighting and war to be incredibly boring therefore this story just didn’t hold my interest. It took me over a month to finish reading it, although it didn’t help that I was also moving during that time! I feel horrible giving it such a low rating, but I just didn’t like it.

I’m hoping now that the war is over that the series will get better, if it doesn’t end altogether. I would assume we’d at least get books on the rest of the Seven still so I imagine there is more series to go. I’m desperately waiting for Illium’s book! The Seven books do seem to be my favorites of the series so with any luck, we’ll get another one soon!

Another strong entry to the series. Singh express with character development and description that is full of romance, passion, and great story telling that is altogether unique compared to other titles in the genre.

My all time fav pnr/romance series was back and bigger than ever. So much has changed in the guild hunter world and Elena and Rapheal are in the battle of their lives! More archangels being featured in this installment is where this novel shined. I just couldn't get enough!

I honestly loved this book. This story was easy to fall in love with. Great Plot. Lovable characters. Heart-pounding action. Just great. Can't wait to read more from this series!

Oh, how to write a review on this book without there being spoilers for the previous book?! If you have not read this series or even Archangel's Prophecy, and don't like to read blurbs before the books, then I would stop here. I'm not going to be spoilery for this book, but it could definitely take some of the shock value out of the previous book.

Now that you've been warned. What the heck just happened?! At their first awakening, I was devastated for Elena. They were alive but everything was so uncertain. Honestly, everything is uncertain through most of the book. Elena's immortality, Raphael's powers, the new archangel's. I was on a crazy roller coaster ride throughout this whole book.

Nalini Singh made me hold my breath in fear, sigh in contentment, shout in outrage and even cry with loss. Things happen to characters that I could not imagine. There were times I wanted to jump online and drop a note to Nalini to tell her just how outraged I was. But obviously the author has a reason for doing what she did. I just have to hold on until the next book to find out why she ripped my heart out.

The war with Lijuan is long and bloody. Not only for Raphael and his territory, but for all of the Cadre. There were times I felt it dragged a little long, but it just proved how strong Lijuan was and how difficult to kill.
