The pace is swift, the incidents suitably full of action, and the tension mounts with so man the twist and turns that finally lead to the conclusion.  I know this is the last book in the series or at least the last focused on Elena and Raphael but I really hope we get more books set in this world and be able to catch up with all the favorite characters.

A great series continues with this resounding novel. So many things happen when war finally comes I won't even bother to try to describe it. There are resounding losses ... As an extremely picky reader, I did remove points from my rating because these losses were not resounding enough. No single, well-loved character died. Yes, the Primary, but ... Certainly no one who got a book died and SOME of them should have in a blood bath so large and terrible. Raphael and Elena's love and the connections between them and their people were important counterpoints to all the suffering,

If you're just starting this series, do not do it here. This book doesn't stand well on its own and may just overwhelm you.

Where do we go from here? Where can Nalini take us next?

Do not think that you can put this book down before you are finished. Nalini Singh has made an amazing finale to her story arc. We've reached the end of the Cascade and some really incredible things are happening, I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'm just going to say WOW.

This book is everything. Everything I love about the Guild Hunter series. Everything I love about Raphael and Elena. Everything. It had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, sighing, tearing up, smiling. I went from one emotion to another in the blink of an eye. That is Nalini’s superpower. She pulls you in and doesn’t spit you out until the last page. Maybe not even then.

Spoilers from the series will be abundant in this review, though I will try to keep spoilers from this book to a minimum.

Archangel’s Prophecy ended on a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger for real. I almost divorced Nalini for that. Okay, that would never happen, but still. A cliffhanger like that? The last year has been hard, not knowing if Raphael and Elena would come out of the chrysalis alive, if Elena would be herself, the possibilities were endless with the Cascade working to do a hard reset on the world.

The Cascade is organic. It is always changing. It has been around before now and it will be around again (assuming everyone survives). The Cascade has made it clear that Elena is to be sacrificed. It is clear she is to be an instrument to be used to manipulate Raphael. The love that Raphael and Elena have for each other and the strength of their bond can’t be manipulated. It is put to the test to be sure, but nothing can tear these two apart.

Elena went into the chrysalis with her wings cut off by Raphael himself. They both knew that it was unavoidable. They both could only hold onto hope that her wings would grow back. When they do emerge from the chrysalis, <spoiler>Elena is the same, but different. She’s Elena, but different. She’s still Raphael’s Elena, a Hunter, a sister, and a friend. She’s just different in a way that I couldn’t put my finger on. Not in a better way, not in a worse way. </spoiler>

While they were in the chrysalis, Dmitri has been holding New York together with the help of Archangel’s Caliane and Elijah. Raphael emerges at just the right time; vampires are starting to run rampant in the city without their Archangel to remind them who’s da boss. One thing I adored about this book was that it showed the bond that Raphael had with his Seven. It’s always been there, yes. We’ve always been able to see and feel it. This book just showed it a little more. It will get to you more than it has before. If it doesn’t, I worry about you.

The showdown between Raphael and Lijuan finally arrives and holy hell, Nalini does it justice. The battle is long and bloody and fucking awesome. I loved how real she made it. It was phenomenal. It just did their feud justice. This book, the title, the cover? Everything is so well done that I can hardly find anything wrong with it. Except View Spoiler ». That almost made me cry. I’ve come to expect this when reading Nalini’s books. I get all the feels.

I know this review was all over the place. I’m okay with that. I felt the exact same way while reading this book. You’re welcome.

Rating: 4.75 out of 5.

I have been reading Nalini Singh’s Archangel books since the series began and have loved every one of them. This one is not an exception. This is the 12th book in the series and was one of the best yet. In this one, Elena and Raphael are fighting against a prophecy predicts the end of their city. About three quarters of the book was of the fight between good and evil and while you do see the love of Elena and Raphael and the balance they bring to each other’s lives, this book is less about the romance and more about their survival. If you like fight scenes and enjoy fantasy, this book is for you. However, start at the beginning of the series. Without reading the other 12 books in the series, you will be lost if you pick up this one.

4.5 Thrilling Stars!

"Sometimes, I convince myself I've imagined how magnificent you are, then you walk into a room and boom, there I fall all over again."

If death is our destiny, Archangel, she thought, then I'll see you on the other side."

To me, there is no better sign that you're reading a good book, then when you stay up late to finish it. And I stayed up way too late finishing this one, but man was it worth the lack of sleep!

I don't know about you guys, but after the way Archangel's Prophecy left off, I have been dying to see what would happen next. And I've got to tell you, Author Nalini Singh does not disappoint. She pulls out all of the stops with Archangel's War. Archangel's War picks up right where the last book left off and just hits the ground running. If you had questions, I promise, your questions will get answered. This book exceeded my expectations and took me on one thrilling and entertaining ride.

One of the things I've come to love about this series is the authors creativity and the way that she contiues to build on to the world we've come to know and love. The plot is intricate and keeps you guessing. There is a lot going on, but in the best way possible. The action and danger keeps you on your toes and will keep your eyes glued to the pages!!

And then we have our dynamic duo: Raphael and Elena. I fell in love with these two when there were first introduced to The Guild Hunter Series and with each story, I have fallen harder for them. Their relationship is inspiring. They are partners in all things and only become stronger as time goes on. There is nothing these two can't do or overcome. They are passion filled, unstoppable team, that will just leave you begging for more.

Archangel's War was everything I was hoping for and then some. With a world in chaos and a looming war, Archangel's War is destined to keep your eyes glued to the pages. There was action and intensity, war and supsene, romance and steam. I had a ton of questions and couldn't wait to have them all answered. I loved seeing this story unravel and come together.

Archangel's War is a thrilling and exciting ride. It ties up all of the loose ends and I couldn't be happier with how things ended. I'm not sure if there is going to more to this series or not. I'm happy with how things ended, but at the same time, I'm hopeful that this won't be the last that we see of these character or the Guild Hunter World.....

The last Guild-Hunter novel saw Elena and her Archangel in a cliffhanger fighting millennia-old prophecy to change the course of the Cascade and its effect on them. This follow-up starts with a bang and pushes hard to the end as the Archangels will face Lijuan in a final war. This series has great characters that have grown tremendously, it carries a wonderful blend of gravitas and a snarky touch, and has plenty of room to continue. I can’t wait to see where Singh takes them next.

It was worth the wait.

I know, I know, readers have been chomping at the bit for this book since they got to the last page of the previous (Archangel's Prophecy) and realized it was the end.

Nalini Singh's world building continues to awe. Her writing is so fantastic that I could not put the book down. Archangel's War wraps up an arc within the book and introduces some more. It's really enjoyable to follow a couple into their immortal life together and there's more intrigue to come.

I'm going to avoid spoilers because it's better if you just read it. You find out what happened to Elena and Raphael after the events of the last book fairly quickly. Once again, months have passed and now they awake to changes across the world. The Cascade is continuing. There are lots of scenes with Ilium and we get to see all of the Seven throughout the book.

And there's war. It's epic, and there are a lot of surprises, and initially I did count how many chapters this took but then I lost count as I was caught up in the tension of all the twists and turns. There's 73 chapters in this book, by the way, for those of you reading on e-readers. This is book twelve in the Guild Hunter series (excluding novellas) and thinking about how far the characters and the storylines have gone in this time, I can't imagine what will happen next. There's no doubt that Singh will continue to amaze us.

I really really REALLY needed Archangel's War after the previous book. I *had* to know what happened with Elena. Nalini did NOT disappoint. Even though this feels like an ending, Nalini assures it is NOT, which makes me happy. I really enjoyed how, once again, Elena changed and rose to meet the obstacles she faced, with Raphael by her side.

4.5 stars

Elena and Raphael have been one of my most favorite power couple of all time. The development of either character and their dynamic as a couple has progressed so much over the years. After so many books, it feels like I know them personally..

Archangel’s War is from beginning to end action packed. The many different plots boggled my mind. The execution was masterful. With amazing precision, each and every plot, scene and chapter was perfectly interlaced to deliver an amazing end result.

Honestly, I was blown away by how intricate this book was.

From Elena’s evolution, to the Cadre, to Lijuan, it all fit together like puzzle pieces.

Archangel’s War seamlessly connects with Archangel’s Prophecy. Many questions were answered, many more arose throughout the book. I can see how neither Elena’s nor Raphael’s journey is done, and definitely wonder what’s coming next.

It’s always a pleasure to revisit my favorite characters. Again I loved how every book in this series allows different supporting characters to shine. With a cast this big, it’s wonderful to get to know different characters more deeply with each book. It was especially fascinating, that some of these characters went through some pretty interesting twists and changes.

I don’t want to take anything away from the plot, all I will say is that this book is full of action, including a happy ending and the promise of lots more to come.
