This is a wonderful book for homeschooling parents. It goes through each grade from kindergarten to 12. It gives you a guide for the whole year as well as lesson ideas and things to teach. There is also a guide for additional resources. A must have for any homeschooling parent.

I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

This resource is incredible and I feel so lucky to be able to view the updated and revised version before the school year begins.
I only read the introduction and the chapter for Sixth Grade (the grade my home-educated child is entering), but I can tell you that this book is a MUST-HAVE for every single homeschooling parent.
Each chapter is broken down by grade, preschool to 12th grade and beyond, and an entire year's of curriculum standards is laid out in a easy to understand and follow format, subject by subject. In addition, there are lists of resources to use as part of the child's education. If you don't want (or have) to follow your state's curriculum standards, this book will cover what every child SHOULD know at each level, and it is extremely comprehensive.

I would suggest this to beginning home educators who are saying to themselves, "Where on earth do I start?" It is also useful to veteran home educators who are unhappy with the curriculum they are using or want to check that the curriculum is up to date. I can even see this resource being used when the students are bored and want to be challenged.

Rebecca Rupp is a highly respected scientist, educator, and storyteller whose books (fiction and nonfiction) are all a great addition to your home library.

Two million kids in the US are homeschooled. Eighty percent of parents expressed concerns over a negative school environment and dissatisfaction with school academics as principle reasons for homeschooling. Clearly, many homeschool families did not always intend to learn at home, but found themselves doing it as a result of the school environment the kids found themselves in. Other families have always known it would be the path the family would take. Home Learning Year by Year, Revised and Updated, is a helpful resource for homeschool families regardless of why they chose home education. This comprehensive book provides year-by-year curricula guidance and book, educational websites and learning clubs suggestions. The reference is broken out by subject and grade. If you are a homeschooling family who plans to make your own curriculum, this book is very useful.
