Cute romcom that is very with the times. The characters were easy to fall in love with and share their struggles. Easy, light reading.

I wished for a copy of this book on Netgalley and was lucky enough to get a copy! I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure how I would feel about reading about a modern day love story that starts around a tweet war. The characters were relatable. The story wasn't completely unrealistic. I enjoyed the writing style as well as the pop culture references. I thought it was adorable that the main characters names are Pepper and Jack. I would have loved to see more of where this story is going, even though I know it is a stand alone. I will very much be looking forward to more books from Emma Lord in the future.

This book is so freaking cute! I loved how we got to see Jack and Pepper both in school and with their families and slowly saw how they got thrown together by circumstances. It's sweet and very funny (their banter is A+) and the kind of rom com you might see on Netflix. Fantastic!

The Story:

So imagine You’ve Got Mail but with teenagers and restaurants instead of bookstores. Oh and they “go to the mattresses” via Twitter. I have to say I was waiting for the story to divert from the YGM format and it did but it didn’t. Fortunately I love that movie so I didn’t mind much but my inability to stop comparing them annoys me. I’m going to try to talk about this without comparison, we’ll see how it goes.

I love Jack and Pepper. Their flirty “fighting” is cute from the get go even before they discovered they were Twitter enemies. Both Jack and Pepper go through a ton with each other but also at home. Jack is constantly feeling inferior to his twin Ethan and Pepper is trying to navigate the rocky relationship between her sister and her mom. And speaking of Mrs. Evans what a bully. Even after she explains why her actions are still inexcusable but I digress. The story line is multifaceted and my random summarization probably makes little sense. I’ll just say I liked it.

Can I just say I hate the name Girl Cheesing. It’s so awkward to say/read.

Tweet Cute is the perfect read if you are looking for a love story that will make you smile. If you're wondering what a 2020 teen romance version of You Got Mail would be like look no further. Chapters are told through Pepper and Jack's perspective, two classmates that have more in common than they originally thought.

They get into an online twitter war over grilled cheese and that's where the fun begins. This was a cute, quirky and grilled cheesy read and I loved it. I loved the two characters so much and I enjoyed the banter between them. Also all the Mean Girls references made my basic heart so happy. This is a romance read for the millennial but its so much more!

Gah!!! I loved this so freaking much! Have you ever finished a book and loved it so much that you wish you hadn't finished it just so that you could go back and immediately read it again for the first time? Well, that's how TWEET CUTE made me feel...*happy sobs*

What Did I Like:
- Everything..seriously this book was packed full of snark, cuteness, flirty banter, and all of the goodness that make rom-coms so wonderful!

- The characters! Pepper and Jack were absolutely amazing! I loved them both, and I adored seeing them get to know each other on so many levels. I also loved seeing how they both helped each other come into themselves and fight for their dreams. The secondary characters were also fantastic, especially Jack's Grandma Belly and some of Pepper and Jack's classmates. :)

- The You've Got Mail parallels...You've Got Mail is my absolute favourite rom-com, so anytime I get to read a book that can be compared to it, I jump at the chance, and TWEET CUTE used the tropes/similar setups perfectly!

- The story itself! Twitter Wars! Grilled Cheese! Memes Galore! Seriously this book was so much fun, and I loved how pop culture and social media was woven so intricately throughout the story. I also adored the romance so much. It was sweet, and so, so wonderful! It left me swoony, and super happy...the epilogue in particular had me smiling like crazy! Also...their shipname...adorable! :

- Hmmm....honestly, nothing. I seriously loved TWEET CUTE and highly recommend it!

Overall, I absolutely loved TWEET CUTE! I thought it was wonderful, and I adored Pepper and Jack! TWEET CUTE is packed full of classic rom-com goodness and is sure to make you swoon, sigh, giggle, and just pretty much feel ALL THE THINGS!

This was the absolute CUTEST thing! Exactly what I needed to get me to fall back in love with reading. It's been such a long time since I've connected well to a character, but I felt myself really relating to both Jack and Pepper. This was so witty and sweet, with the perfect mix of some more serious topics. It was VERY YA, but what do you expect? It's about two teenagers in a Twitter war... Obviously it'll be a bit cliche YA. But it was, nevertheless, amazing. I'm only knocking down a half star because there were some parts that were unnecessary IMO or dragged on a bit. There was never a time it didn't pick back up though. I loved this book and am so grateful for getting a chance to read it. I kept finding myself smiling down at the words on the page and it's been so long since a story has had that effect on me. SO CUTE!!!

This was too cute! This book was so romantic and over the top novel, absolutely loved it, will absolutely recommend it!

Pepper Evans helps out her family's booming burger business by running their social media accounts. When they announce their newest item, Grandma's Grilled Cheese, a local deli claims theft publicly on Twitter, which, unbeknownst to Pepper, is run by Pepper's classmate, Jack. Now, Pepper and Jack have always studiously avoided each other for the most part in the halls of their high school and the lanes in the community pool where they have swim practice, but when they discover who is behind slamming each of their families on Twitter, it becomes an all-out war, and neither can avoid the other anymore, and, if they are being honest, do they even want to? This was an original young-adult novel that did not induce one eye roll from me, which is incredibly surprising, since eye rolls usually run rampant for me in YA. Thank you to St. Martin's Press & Wednesday Books, Emma Lord, and Netgalley for my advance copy. I'm excited to see what else this author comes up with.

Sometimes you come upon that rare gem of a book that makes you laugh out loud, relate to the characters and simply delight with its clever and witty dialogue. That book was Tweet Cute! It was such a fun, banterific book that left me so happy and thinking about the story for days afterward. Let me tell you why you need to get this book on your must read list ASAP!

Pepper was transplanted to NYC from Nashville at the beginning of high school when her parents burger restaurant took off into a national chain. Plopped into an elite high school reminiscent of the show Gossip Girl, she quickly chameleoned herself to blend in with her high achieving classmates. She is a straight A student, captain of the swim team and an avid baker, co-blogging with her older sister about the creations they’ve been putting together since childhood. She also finds herself unceremoniously saddled with the corporate Twitter account for Big League burgers when a local New York deli accuses them of stealing their infamous grandma’s grilled cheese recipe. Armed with wise cracks and snarky memes, a full out Twitter emerges between the two companies but little did she know the face behind the opposition’s Twitter is her fellow classmate!

Jack is one half of a twin and fiercely loyal to his family’s deli. Indignant about this corporate burger place stealing his Grandma Belly’s recipe, he dives into the Twitter war feet first without hesitation. As he spars with Pepper he finds that he actually is starting to enjoy her company and her smart wise cracks — and vice versa. Little do the BOTH of them know they’ve been anonymously talking on an app everyone at their school is chatting on. Rivals, Twitter war enemies…friends?

There are SO many hilarious memes and popular internet mentions in here, it’s like an Easter egg minefield and had me chuckling and snickering to myself basically nonstop. It was DELIGHTFUL. The popular memes mentioned does beg the question: how will this book age? I think the answer to that is it’ll age just fine — look at how much people love Ready Player One for the dropped mentions and nostalgic nods. I can picture Tweet Cute years and years from now and people falling into nostalgic memories in much the same way!

The banter and back and forth between Jack and Pepper not only in their biting tweets to each other but in their actual conversations is the literal best. Their comebacks are just so on point and snarky and I seriously can’t resist banter. It launches immediate heart eyes and shippy feels for me and Tweet Cute has the banter in spades! I also loved Jack so much – I basically smiled every time he flashed a smile. The swoon factor was high and he is just such a sweet and thoughtful guy!

Not only is the evolution of Pepper and Jack’s friendship so natural and fantastic, the book also explores familial relationships and other friendships so well! It addresses parental expectations, obligations and family dynamics very authentically and in a relatable way. I could totally empathize with those expectations and that weighty senior year feeling as you look out into your future of college and life beyond the four walls of high school. All the high school friendships held an authenticity that some YA novels miss but this one nails it on the head.

And I haven’t even mentioned another favorite part that made me love this book. The FOOD. My friends know me to be a foodie and the greatest compliment you can give me is to compare me to the food-loving Merry or Pippin from Lord of the Rings. This book, you guys, it made my foodie heart sing. Grilled cheeses, Monster Cakes, Kitchen Sink Macaroons and other amazing baked goods abound! I was drooling. So, of course I had to take these creations and test it out myself a la Pepper experimenting in her kitchen.

In short…
Tweet Cute was such a delightful contemporary debut! A laugh out loud, relatable story with characters I adore! Filled to the brim with banter and clever witticisms, Tweet Cute will have you falling in love with Pepper and Jack and rooting for the both of them as they battle it out online and slowly fall for each other in real life. I dare you not to crave a fresh grilled cheese and baked good when reading this and long to stroll through NYC while eating a combination of both.

This was such a cute, witty, enjoyable little rom com, a classic enemies to lovers. I loved seeing the connection between the two main characters develop. It was told from dual perspective which I think added to the story.
Pepper, swim team captain and perfectionists finds herself in a Twitter war with Jack the class clown. Of course the enemies find themselves sitting right next to eachother in class. As they start spending more time together, they start to fall for one another. Will they be able to put their differences aside to keep their budding relationship going, only time will tell.

What a cute read. This story is very sweet, light and fun. You can not help but like the main characters and root for them and their endeavours.

I could not put this book down! The main character Pepper and Jack are instantly likable and are easy to relate to. I would recommend this this light-hearted read to middle grade and young adult readers. I am looking forward to reading more from Emma Lord in the future.

The title says it all. This book is so CUTE! While it's marketed as YA, I honestly feel like my middle-grade reader could read this book & enjoy it.

Let me be clear, that's a good thing!

Tweet Cute addresses some timely & relatable issues. I love how Lord addresses the fact that Pepper's family is putting some unnecessary stress on her by having her run their corporation's Twitter account. She's doing this while she is still in High School. Pepper already has the burden of class, test & trying to get into a good college. Match that with uprooting herself to NYC & maintaining a blog with her sister & she's got a lot going on.

Side note: I would love her blog. They bake ridiculous things like Monster Cake & I couldn't love it more! Also, as I'm typing this review I am just realizing that the character's names are Pepper & Jack. This story focuses on a viral Twitter feud involving grilled cheese sandwiches. Like I said, SO STINKING CUTE!

Jack is a great character too! I love that Lord focuses on the relationship between Jack & his brother. The differences in the parent's expectations between Jack & his brother are very interesting. I think this is something a lot of people can relate to.

Overall, this is an enjoyable, charming & fun read. Perfect for anyone looking to break up their regular reading pattern & try something new. I am over the moon to find a YA read with little to no angst. Tweet Cute is a total feel-good book. Just be sure to have some grilled cheese handy!

Such an adorable book. Pepper and Jack are the perfect characters and this story just made JD keep reading to find out what happened to them.

When I got an email from Wednesday Books asking if I wanted to be a part of the blog tour for this book I took one look at the synopsis and agreed so quickly.

Pepper is an overachiever at school. She pushes herself to be perfect in everything and doesn’t want to let her family down. Her family owns Big League Burger, a major food chain (think Wendy’s or Burger King), and part of not letting her family down is helping run the Twitter account for her family’s brand. Her mom wants the twitter account to be full of the snarkiness that comes so easily to Pepper. Jack is the anti-Pepper, he’s not an overachiever and feels like he is always one step behind his twin brother in everything he does, except in developing apps. His family also runs a restaurant but his family’s restaurant is a little deli that isn’t necessarily doing too well at the moment. He wants his parents to hop on the social media train but they’re a little hesitant and so at their insistence he holds off. That is until Big League Burger rips off his grandma’s grilled cheese recipe and so he responds with a shady tweet. Pepper responds and pretty soon Pepper and Jack are embroiled in a twitter war to end all twitter wars…and it all started with a grilled cheese sandwich. Meanwhile, one of Jack’s apps is going wild at school, causing scrutiny from the principal, but no one knows that he is the one behind the app…not even the girl he is talking to on the app and slowly falling for.

Going into this book I was anticipating a really cute ya contemporary. I mean with a name like “Tweet Cute”, an obvious playoff of the well know romance meet cute, and a synopsis like the one above, how could it be anything else? Thankfully, I was not let down in any way. I loved this book sooo much. The cute contemporary romance may have drawn me in but it was definitely the snark and humor of the main characters that wouldn’t let me put this book down.
I feel like the characters of Jack and Pepper are really flushed out and I love that the book is written from a dual perspective because it allows us to get both sides of the stories and helps us understand why they both do the things that they do. I love the relationship between both Pepper and Jack because even after they become friends they remain snarky and sarcastic to each other and if I’m being honest that is one of my favorite type of character personalities. I love that they can both take the sarcasm as well as dish it out. I fell in love with Pepper’s and her sister’s cooking blog and hope so much that we will be gifted with some of the recipes soon. I need to make me some monster cake. Now, there is something going into this book that we don’t know…basically why everything happened in the first place and when we find out what it was I was honestly a little shocked because I did not see that coming at all.

This was Emma Lord’s debut book and I just have to say I am eagerly waiting to see what she writes next.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I didn’t expect a cute little YA romance book about two teens’ twitter feud over competing grilled cheeses to hit me in the feels like it did but the depth of the relationship between Pepper and her sister, the complex feelings of Jack towards his identical twin brother, and the weight of parental expectations from both families made this book so much more.

Following the various texting and Weazel conversations was a little tough but that’s really the only criticism I have for a book that totally caught me off guard.

4.5 stars and a perfect first book for February.

It was a really fun, quick and (as the title might suggest) CUTE book! I read it all in one day and had the best time.

Tweet Cute was such an unexpected delight from start to finish. The premise was so good, and the story actually delivered on that excellent concept (which is extra impressive for a debut!). I loved all the food references, the NYC setting, the usage of and commentary on social media, and, of course, the chemistry between the two MCs. I've already recommended this one to so many people, and it's one I think is a must-read for lovers of YA contemporary.

Oh. My. <I>Word.</I> I am officially head over heels in love with this book! I might as well end my review here because I have not a single negative thing to say, and whatever follows the next period is going to be a gushing, squeeing tirade.

Alright, you've been warned.

It's rare for me to pick up a contemporary rom-com and love it so quickly, and so fiercely, from the first page. This was an entire page length of perfect adjectives all on its own. Smart. Adorable. Real. Funny. Fresh. I have never before highlighted as many lines in an e-ARC as I have this one. All of them laugh out loud lines that make me smile just thinking of them. For example:

<I>Jack blanches. "We're on Tumblr tags?"
I lower my voice. "I've seen things I can never unsee."
"God, I wish this were not my legacy."</I>

And did I mention fresh? Emma Lord has her finger on the veritable pulse of the internet, and it showed with ease and perfect timing in her writing. From Twitter to personal WordPress blogs, to Instagram and Tumblr. Even the fantastic meme usage and pop culture references in every chapter. The use of all of them is natural and entertaining and <b>spot-on</b>. Even if you put all that aside, Lord has the tone of the characters exactly right. There is no trying overly hard to be relatable. No pulling up slang from when she was in high school that no one touches with a ten-foot pole anymore. Absolutely zero cringing on my part and I am absolutely 100% delighted.

What would this review be if I didn't spend a paragraph fawning over the perfection that was the two main characters? Pepper, and Jack. <I>PepperJack.</I> Oh my lord, it should be so stupid but it's the ideal amount of quirk that brings this book home. I adored these two so very much, and like the internet, I shipped them. Pepper and Jack have a very interesting relationship dynamic. Really, it grows on several different levels that make their arcs intriguing.

One: Twitter
This book centres around their Twitter war, and for the first little while they don't know who they're tweeting at. As we know from the start, Pepper for her family's fast food restaurant, and Jack for his family's small deli. And punches are not withheld.

Two: In person
Le gasp! Face-to-face! Sacre bleu! But also so stinking' cute how the two of them jive with the other. Their constant teasing was part of what made me enjoy this so much. But their quiet moments, of when they rise above what's going on in the backgrounds of their lives and just spend time with each other was really sweet.

Three: Weazel
The anonymous chat app that Jack designed and has had the two of them paired up and talking for weeks before all of this goes down. They're just as humorous and vulnerable here as they are in person and it tied in well to the rest of the book.

This book started with a war, and it ended in an adorable way that I know will have me coming back to read it again soon.
