Dnf. I had a hard time with the coldness of this hero. It didn't feel like romance to me. I gave it about 40 percent try. I think the author has good writing skills. I just couldn't connect with the couple.

My first read by Leslie Georgeson & it had me so hooked, I read it in one day. A great romantic suspense/thriller that pulls you right in! I can’t wait to read more by this author!!

This was the first time in reading this author whom grabbed my attention with the story content. The curiosity picked high when I seen that wondering how the spin on this would go.
A trained killer and expert tracker but yet where he is placed in this at the beginning is unusual. Liam is approached by Jessica with this story taking us into its realm. It has a taste of unusual with you becoming snared by this and the flow with its twists and turns taking us along.
She is really interesting in itself with her sometimes stealing the limelight. A little bit on the repetitive side on some of the flow with the author forgetting maybe the readers have a bit of thinking in a better way than that. I think though I would have to read one more of this to really know for sure if this author had me as a reader thanks to all the books out there.

An Excellent story with a well-developed plot. I liked the storyline and how the story ended. Good solid characters helped this be a winner.

Damaged souls redeemed!

I was initially attracted to this given it was a 2018 TopShelf Indie Book Awards nominee. The storyline seemed interesting. The aura of the paranormal clinging around the edges, beguiling.
The Dregs! A band of brother survivors, ex military experiments, clinging to the shadows (beyond the underbelly of the city), trained soldiers and killers who overcome their pasts with the help of a good woman (in the case of the Tracker (Liam) anyway.)
I acknowledge the warnings strong language and adult situations. And there is an 18 and up recommendation.
I felt there might be enough here to really enjoy something different and the redemption of a damaged soul is a great trope. Mind you the going is not easy.
The Tracker takes on the case of a young woman searching for her sister stolen by one of the gangs that have overrun the city. Jessica seems to have her own set of gifts, like the fact that she can always remember her way back.
Liam tries to repel Jessica, but she's really very persistent. She agrees to be the Tracker's housekeeper/cook type person, in order to have her sister tracked by the expert! Of course so much more will come into play!
The story was a cut above the hackneyed but not enough for me to want to read more.

I read this in one sitting, determined to finish by the end of the night, and I was not disappointed in the result! This was a unique read, not something I could easily box into one genre - it was romance, science fiction, paranormal, and mystery all wrapped into one. There were so many elements to the story, and I enjoyed each one. While I felt that the character development could have been done a bit more, I have no doubt that the other books in this series improve upon that, now that the worldbuilding has been done with this first book. The nice thing about reading this one now is that it's been almost a year, so many of the other stories have already been published. Yay!

August, Georgia is overrun by gang rule, and Jessica's sister has gotten caught up in the middle of it. While Jessica was out scavenging for food, her sister was kidnapped, and without police around to help, Jessica has only one person to turn to: the dregs. They are said to be former soldiers, kicked out due to injuries and forced to live underground. The Tracker is the one man among them who could find Jessica's sister, but without money, Jessica's only bargaining chip is herself. The Tracker prefers solitude, but with the forced proximity between him and Jessica, it's only a matter of time before the flame burning between them ignites into a wildfire of passion, which could be deadly for them both.

Jessica and The Tracker (Liam) were a good pairing. Although I would have liked Jessica's character to have been better explained, perhaps with a backstory or two, I thought her bravery and stubbornness fit well with the story. She had a few TSTL moments, which were frustrating for me as the reader. I kept thinking she would learn from her mistakes, but there she went making them again. Liam was much more interesting, having two very distinct sides to him. He was trained to be a killer, and his identity had been stripped from him, but all his soul wanted was a meaningful connection with another person. He wanted love. Jessica was the perfect person to show him that he was not alone, and she could get him out of his shell to see what his future could look like, if he dared to reach for it.

This is the first book in a series, so there are many more exciting stories ahead! I look forward to reading them.

The Tracker is the first book in the eight book (not all yet available) Dregs series by Leslie Georgeson. I’ve done despicable things. My soul is damaged. My body impaired. That’s what happens when you are a soldier for The Company. I was discharged a year ago. Now I am a dreg. Worthless. With a bounty on my head. I’ve become a creature of the night, hiding in an underground maze during the day. Because I’m not ready to die yet. She comes to me one night, needing my help to find her sister. The moment I see her, I want her. Her goodness calls to me, makes me yearn for the impossible. She brings life back to the deadness inside me. I’m no good for her. I will do nothing but corrupt her. But I’m a callous bastard. I can’t resist her. I try not to care for her, but somehow she slips under my skin. She makes me weak. And there is only one thing in this world I am afraid of. Weakness. I’ll never be good enough for her, so I have to finish this job and send her on her way. Before she destroys me.

The Tracker is a story that manages to get a lot of world building, character development, and other series groundwork laid down without having it completely overtake the action and romance of the story. I like that Jessica is a fully developed character with a mind and drives of her own. She is willing to do anything to save her sister, and is fiercely loyal to the dregs once they have gotten to know each other. Tracker and his teammates have serious issues to overcome, and I like that they own those issues and do not pretend to be perfect. I found Tracker to be well written and consistent with his past and position- and really enjoyed reading about the connections between the dregs.I was left wanting to see how it turns out for all of them, and want them all to find a happy ending. I will admit that there were a couple things that dragged a bit for me, but I think they were all necessary to set up for the conclusion of this book and the set ups for the future volumes.

The Tracker is a good start to a series with suspense, romance, and plenty of twists and turns. I have already downloaded the second book and added it to my 'to read' list.

**I received a copy of The Tracker from XpressoBook Tours and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My review was not solicited in any way.**

The Tracker by Leslie Georgeson is the first book in The Dregs series. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Ms. Georgeson is a new author to me and judging by this book the next 7 books should be pretty good. The men have taken over a rundown plantation that has a underground system of tunnels and apartments for the men.

The Dregs are a group of ex-military men who were experimented on by a very cold General each has their own strength as Tracker's is that he can do exactly what his name is find people. When Jessica needs someone to find her missing sister she knows that he'll be able to find her. But she doesn't have any money just herself and her skills to pay him. Will Tracker be able to find her before she's sold by one of many violent gangs who have now taken over Augusta?

Tracker doesn't want to help Jessica especially since she can't pay for finding her sister, Eliza. He tells her to become his slave cooking and cleaning his apartment but he'll soon wonder if Jessica could be the one person who could bring him peace and Love. But after finding Eliza they have to deal with the General and his experiments. When he tells him why he created his group of super soldiers will surprise you and hope that he'll be rescued by his men before the drug cocktail kills him.

Jessica and Liam aka Tracker or THE tracker.
Jessica has a hard life growing up and ended up filling the roll of a mother to her little sister. She just got done with law school when a horrible gang war took out her city and her little sister ended up getting snatched up. With nowhere to go. Non of her things literally only the clothes on her back she went searching for help someone had to help her. Her poor little sister was missing. In her effort to find help she learned of men , or maybe a beasts that once were soldiers for some agency that messed with their DNA to get the biggest strongest men possible. These men had been discharged because of disability’s. Now they live their life on the run cause that same agency that they belonged to now wanted them dead. She heard about one of those men that was named tracker, he could supposedly find anyone. She searched for him and found him but she had no money so they swapped services he agreed to help if she was his slave.

This storyline was great and interesting.
There is some action but I had a hard time reading this. The two main characters were so insecure. I have a hard time reading a story with one insecure person and this was just too much I thought it would let up but no the whooooleeee book was insecurity’s. If it wasn’t for that I would of loved this. That killed it for me. I did however finish the book. I may try and read the second book because obviously it will be different people but if that continues there is no way I will be able to read through all the men’s stories.

Oh Goodness!

Leslie Georgeson was a new author for me. I was well and truly surprised and pleased with Leslie Georgeson's book The Tracker. It was instantly intriguing. Great story line and wonderful main characters. In fact, I so loved the story that I went to find the other books in the series. I think there's 6. Its a great series--good enough to binger on a long weekend.

I enjoyed reading The Tracker and this author so much that I've recommended her to my book club. Its a wonderful series to loose time in.

Thank you netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't crazy about the characters in this romance. Jess is a timid woman in need of the tracke'rs help in finding her sister. When she does find him he agrees to help in exchange for her servitude. She agrees and they built this awkward living situation where she cleans and cooks submissively but demonstrats random acts of rebellion when it suits her. The tracker is this broken, science project who acts tough but is needy and emotional. Just couldn't get into it.

A truly awesome book. I enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. This is my first book from Leslie Georgeson and honestly I am going to go look into more books from her.

I love the Dregs boys!! The story pulls you right and leaves you wanting for more and more. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book!

Loved the concept! I can't wait to read the rest. Tracker and the rest of the Dregs...geez! As secondary characters to Tracker, the Dregs are just individual books begging to happen.
I liked Jessica but at times found her not as strong as her love interest Tracker does. Otherwise this was a great read.

truly an unique storyline. The "Trackers" are used by "The Company" to do some terrible things. Not necessarily their choice of course. I would definitely read more by this author!

I've changed my mind about five times about how many stars to give this book. The storyline kept me gripped and I really liked the characters. That would usually result in a good four stars, but, unfortunately, this time, there were a few things that stopped me from giving it.
As I started by saying, the storyline was certainly gripping and I was keen to know how it was going to play out. Set in what I assume is a future dystopia, this book has elements of sci-fi and the paranormal. The 'Dregs' are ex-soldiers who were engineered and experimented on in order to make them the ultimate soldiers, before being discarded once injured. They had been supposed to be killed, but escaped instead and are now on the run. This worked really well and all of the Dregs have something about them, which makes you want them to win through and get their freedom and happiness. The female lead, Jessica, is also interesting and likeable. She is a little too willing to fall into the cooking and cleaning for her man role, but she has something about her that makes her really quite likeable.
Unfortunately, where this book falls down a bit for me, is in the actual writing. On the whole, it isn't bad, but far too often there is too much telling and not nearly enough showing. Just a little more action, rather than telling us what people were feeling or thinking would have made the world of difference to the storyline. The other problem, which links to this in a way, was the repetition. Quite often we would be told what someone was worrying about, only to be told three, four and sometimes even more times, the same thing, just using different words. Some repetition helps to reinforce what the writer is trying to show us, but over and over again is unnecessary.
I did enjoy this book and feel a bit mean that I'm being quite critical, but sometimes a good book that has something small that detracts is much worse than a book that is awful from start to finish. I would be keen to read the other books in the series. Partly in the hope that the writing improves, but also because I do want to know what will happen to the other characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion. The Tracker is someone who has been used by “The Company” to do terrible things. When he and others escape The Company they live in an underground plantation mansion.
Jessica’s sister is kidnapped and she is looking for the tracker to help in finding her. With no money she does what she needs to in order to have the tracker help find Her. Jessica wants to help Tracker with his past and move on with him to a better future.
Great read and this book will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Interesting premise, but struggled to really get into this story. The idea of a town overrun by gangs and violence was hard to read. The story has Jessica coming to hire "the Tracker" to find her sister who had been taken by a gang. Liam had been kidnapped as a young boy, and his DNA had been spliced with animals, and is the perfect Tracker. The story is fair, and does have potential, but was also easy to skim. Would still recommend though, as it did keep my interest to find out how it ends. Would give 3.5

2 1\2 stars
The Tracker is part of a series by Leslie Grorgeson it isn't perfect but it isn't a bad book either. The story feel like it might start to become a little BDSM when he makes her his slave but stay with graphic and simple "steamy romance"

Readers like the concept but many the a little less damaged souls wondering around would have been better. The back story of each characters is thought out and readers of course if you are reading this series will make sure to suspend you belief. Each book reads almost the same with a woman needing their help and each one coming to their rescue.

The books have women who are damsels in distress who fall in love with the damaged souls. Characters dies and unless you are paying attention you might lose count on who is whom. readers will feel the book winding down only to have the author throw you in for a second half of the story. Each book goes though this processes leaving readers find themselves a little bored at times.

Readers will want to yell at the female lead as she "tries to protect those she cares about." when in face she ends up needing to be saved once again.

The story is old and while the author tries to polish it up the series so far falls flat over using the first story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Author Leslie Georgeson
