This story is adorable and the images are well done. The story makes you feel good as reading it. It’s not repetitive or annoying and is a unique little tale. Highly recommend!

One Wild Christmas by Nicholas Oldland is a cute and a little different story about three best friends — a beaver, a bear and a moose. The Christmas tree is not decorated, not only that it has been forgotten. They search and search to find one and finally find the perfect one, but one of the friends does not want the tree to be cut down. What will they do now? Will their Christmas be ruined? Can they remain friends? This is a fun and heart-warming story that reminds me of a fable. It teaches us how important nature is and how important family, as well as friends, are to us. The illustrations are artistic and fit well with the story. They remind me of watching a classic Christmas special as the artist creates lively facial expressions bringing the characters to life on the page. While some of the story might not be what you would expect, such as when bear tied up his friends, overall it is a nice story. It is fun to read aloud. If you want a silly Christmas story to read to your little family this is a good choice. It is also a part of the Life in the Wild children’s series following these characters. Something I’ll need to consider reading.

Picture Book | 3-7
This is the first of two reviews this week to help with your holiday shopping. Canadian Nicholas Oldland has released a delightful addition to his Life In The Wild picture book series (see my review Walk on the Wild Side). Our three pals – a moose, a beaver, and a bear – are ready to celebrate Christmas with decorations, stockings and yummy food when they discover they have forgotten a tree. Out they go in search of the perfect tree, but when they find it, Bear loves it too much to let his friends cut it down. Sharp young readers will figure out the solution before it’s revealed, a lesson in compromise wrapped in environmental ethics.
The illustrations are bold and bright, including a couple that bring to mind images from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, as well as Oldland’s own Bear Hug cover. While the spare text is easy to read aloud, the images are a bit too small and complex for storytime sharing; it’s a good choice for a lapshare though. Giftwise, it’s suitable for introducing youngsters to this friendly group of Canadian icons and for those who know the series well. Just be aware it’s likely to spark questions in homes with a cut tree! My thanks to Kids Can Press for the digital copy provided through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I wasn't a big fan of the story line with this book. I did very much enjoy the graphics but I didn't really like that the bear tied up the others. I did like how the story ended up but I don't think I will want to read this one again to my daughter.

Beaver, Moose and Bear are almost all ready for Christmas. They just forgot about one little thing.. The Christmas Tree! Since a Christmas Tree is the most important decoration, our lovable trio must go out and find one at once. After finding trees that simply won't do, they finally find the perfect tree. The only problem is bear thinks this tree is perfect exactly where it is, in the forest. Now the friends have to figure out what they can possibly do to have such a perfect tree as their very own.

My daughter and I really enjoyed this book. It was absolutely adorable and so much fun to read. The story is silly and sweet and just a wonderful little Christmas tale. I loved the way the three friends worked together to make Christmas perfect and how Bear stood up for his beliefs about the perfect tree. The pictures are colorful, fun and a joy to look at. It's simply wonderful in every way.

Why I'm recommending this one:
It's fun! It was a silly little Christmas story that brought my daughter and I joy while we read it and I think other families would enjoy it just as much as we did.

Bear, Moose, and Beaver are in the midst of preparing for their perfect, first Christmas together. They have their food all read, stockings hung, and they are ready for the night's biggest even... decorating the Christmas tree.

But problems hit the trio of friends when they realize that no one brought a Christmas tree!

In their best efforts to save their perfect Christmas, Bear, Moose, and Beaver head out into the woods in search of the perfect tree to decorate. No matter what they do, they can't seem to find the right tree. The trees they find are either too small, too tall, or just too white!

After they are almost ready to give up, the three friends find the perfect pine tree. It is everything they dreamed it would be. Beaver and Moose jump into action by beginning to prep to cut down the tree. But Bear has second thoughts. He believes the tree is too perfect to cut down, and he decides to save it from beginning cut down.

A battle emerges between the three friends. Unfortunately, Beaver and Moose are no match for the strength of Bear. Bear ties them to the Christmas tree. All seems lost for the trio's perfect Christmas.

That is... until Bear has a brilliant idea.

Be sure to check out One Wild Christmas, by Nicholas Oldland. You and your young readers will love finding out how Bear just might save their perfect Christmas after all!

I am a tremendous fan of this series and this title really helps show the true spirit of Christmas. There is sharing, caring and a real sense of the friendship between the three central characters. A great read for younger children.

This is such a great book. It works great with small children to teach how to work together and to save our trees.

Funny and sweet! So, Moose, bear and beaver all live together and LOVE Christmas! They cook and bake and decorate, then realize- THEY FORGOT THE TREE! Cutting a tree down with a beaver illustration was genius! Littles will love it ( so will who ever reads it to them!). And. no, it isn't cut down, but a compromise is reached after a short tussle! And all's well that end's well. Illustrations are simple and bold; there's lots to look at and small ones will enjoy this story anytime in December. Make a great stocking stuffer, too!
I found a copy on our library's shelves so I could review this wonderful book!

super cute little holiday book, tho I may not recommend this to people who chop down their own trees and have small children (I don't want them to have to spend the holiday in the woods lol) its a super cute book!

One Wild Christmas is about a bear, a moose, and a beaver that love Christmas. They are preparing for the holiday by doing many of the traditional activities, such as hanging stockings and making a meal. Then, they realize that nobody got a Christmas tree! They go on the hunt for the perfect tree and finally find one. The only problem is that Bear refuses to allow Beaver and Moose to cut the tree down. Bear comes up with a different solution that Beaver and Moose go along with and the three friends joyfully celebrate the holiday together.

The illustrations in this book are simple, yet adorable. Young readers will be attracted to the illustrations as well as the content of the story. There are many great Christmas themed picture books available for young children, but this one is different enough that it can stand on its own. I do not have prior experience with the Life in the Wild series, but it seems like this series would be a great fit for preschool-early elementary.

I received a free copy of this title from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

One Wild Christmas is the latest in the Life in the Wild children's series. These are the stories of Moose, Beaver and Bear, who are great friends. This is their Christmas story. They are busy getting ready for Christmas, when they realize they don't have a tree. Off they go with their toboggan to find and bring back the perfect tree. They finally find the one they all like, but they encounter a problem. Bear and the little red bird that is also in these books, do not want them to cut down the tree. Now this is the one part of the book I am not happy with as bear uses physical strength to stop his friends who disagree with him. Of course they come up with a great compromise at the end. This is a great story about the environment, friendship and compromise. The illustrations are very simple, yet colourful and cute. My grandchildren liked this story and were happy with the solution that bear came up with. My grandson understood the ecological solution, my granddaughter just liked the tree and the party. This would make a great addition to a family, public or school library.

Not at all what I was expecting. This is a story about moose, beaver and bear and their Christmas together, which starts out easy going and full of fun, until... Where is the Christmas tree?! The most important decoration for Christmas. The rest of the tale is their adventure to find a Christmas tree and what transpires along the way. A silly read.

I love books about Christmas catastrophes and this was no exception. Three friends love Christmas, but they forgot the most important part...the tree! What will they do when they all fall in love the with perfect tree but can't decide just how to use it? The illustrations match the story perfectly and had me laughing out loud!

This was a cute book with adorable illustrations. A bear, moose, and beaver are friends and are getting ready to celebrate Christmas. They do all the decorating and forget they do not have a tree. They go searching for one and the story unfolds from there. I would have liked to see a little more about their celebration once they have a resolution, but overall, this was an adorable book for the holidays.
