I have read this book with my students when we study dinosaurs and fossils with our 4th grade science unit. The information and pictures lead the students to want to know more. What more could a teacher ask for? Every time I think I've found all the book has to offer, I turn the page and find more.
This is a five star book! I highly recommend it to any dinosaur lover, anyone interested in fossils, anyone who loves great illustrations, and teachers to excite students to learn more.

I was given the opportunity to read this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

As a child I was obsessed with dinosaurs. As an adult I have been able to explore more about the creatures in our past and I am fascinated with the progress in information provided about these giants from long ago. This book was really neat. It had up to date information and wasn't overwhelming with information. It felt like both me and the kids could enjoy it as it was easy to understand without being too simple. I would like the print copy BETTER but this was still a great read on the kindle version. The illustrations were beautiful.

Filled with bright, colorful illustrations and all kinds of fascinating facts, this book will please any dinosaur loving kid (or adult!). The information is up-to-date, and given in small bites rather than info dumps, so that it never feels overwhelming, and the facts are explained well. The illustrations add greatly to the text. Perfect for school projects, or just sitting and looking through.

We enjoyed this book tremendously! We’re always in the lookout for more dinosaur books and this one was really enjoyable.

Do not get the Kindle edition of this book! The print edition may be okay to read but on a Kindle this book is impossible.

I think many of us are interested or being fascinated by all things rated to dinosaurs. I, myself, am drawn to dinosaurs personally. I haven’t found the true reason yet but I enjoy learning all about them, watching more documentaries instead of B-rated movies, though I have seen a few.
This short novella goes into a wide exploration of time, discovering the key moments in our planet’s history, leading to the birth and death of the prehistoric marvels. The novella goes into how dinosaurs managed to conquer their world starting from being small, furtive animals to becoming a dominant global force. The novella gives answers to some futuristic questions as: what if the asteroid hasn’t hit the Yucatan peninsula at a precise time, and what if scientists could clone a dinosaur?
This novella is a great start into the world of dinosaurs, especially since we are continually updating with new information and findings, to being a nice refresher and collector of data from previous dinosaur reading. I think this would be a nice addition to any library, personal or public.
I would recommend the paperback instead of a digital format since you get the full enjoyment of seeing a two page setup. For example, when one half of a T-Rex is one page instead of turning to a new page on the digital screen, your eyes can do the motion to complete the picture of the other half of a T-Rex. Another reason for reading the paperback I found it a bit difficult to read, for some of the captions for the pictures were including in the sections of text on a different page.

A good source of information about dinosaurs without being dry or drowning the reader in information overload.

This book provides up-to-date, factual science about dinosaurs. It is packed with information but relays it in short spurts. There are great and colorful illustrations accompanied by information such as that the fact that “Fossils of Epidexipteryx show that it may have used its feather as a display to attract mates.” When looking at the picture of this dinosaur, you would wonder why it has a red tail as big as its body. An answer to the kind of questions that pop into a child’s mind is great.

This book can be used as a resource for school papers or just for interesting reading. Kids love dinosaurs. The authors provide factual information rather than cartoonish ideas or guesses. How refreshing. Such a good book. It stands out in an area of interest to many children.

I received an ARC from Fox Chapel Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review.

I  received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

I did enjoy this book and feel that my nephew would love it. That being said, this book is most definitely not made for eBook format.
The pictures are great and it is very informative. There's even a picture from one of my favorite movies "One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing".

My son is a dinosaur aficionado so this book is right up his alley. However I generally stay away from factoid books like DK and the like because there are just too many boxes of texts and information on the page that it is apt to give you ADD if you don't already have it. This offering from the BBC however toes the line of overkill. I like that the dinosaurs look more realistic. My son loves the shows that try to recreate them and make them look like they might have in real life so that's a plus. There's a lot of information here but it is told in a clear way and it is also up to date. I like the "what if" essays such as "What if the Dinosaurs Had Survived?" This type of thing is great to get kids thinking and keep them engaged in the learning. This a great choice for dino fans of any age.

I received a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is an amazing book...the only problem is, it is not made for digital ebook format. Or it is not designed properly to be fit in ebook. Great fun facts, you can read with your kids because kids are always interested in dinos. :)

Dinosaurs: The Myth-Busting Guide to Prehistoric Beasts is a nice visual guide to the world of dinosaurs. While there are many books on dinosaurs, this book is focused on the latest discoveries in the field as well as busting several myths and misconceptions.

The book starts with the evolution of life, right from the formation of the solar system to the Jurassic era. The story moves on to how dinosaurs evolved from other species to become the most dominant species and the extinction of dinosaurs. There is also an interesting Q&A section, which dispels several myths; including if dinosaurs can be brought back to life (like in Jurassic Park).

The book is loaded with In-depth articles and brilliant color illustrations. The research level in this book up-to-date; especially how our understanding about how the dinosaurs looked, walked or even sounded, is constantly getting updated with more research (Did T-Rex really have feathers?). There is an interesting "what if" type section discussing, “What if dinosaurs never went extinct?” and “How dinosaurs would have existed in today’s world?”

Overall, the book is a great read for anyone interested in dinosaurs. With some interesting facts, articles and excellent illustrations, Dinosaurs: The Myth-Busting Guide to Prehistoric Beasts is a treat to read from the start to end.

Many thanks to the publishers BBC Focus & Fox Chapel Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC

Dinosaurs: The Myth-Busting Guide to Prehistoric Beasts by BBC Focus is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. This book has remarkable artwork that makes the dinosaurs look lifelike! The wonderful information about the time periods, various species, the asteroid, and after is very well done and doesn't speak down to the child or adult.
After all the awesomeness, they present a section with dinosaurs looking like cutouts, with funky colors, in leashes. It's a "what if" type section. Discussion on having a dino for a pet for insistence.
I think that would be okay if the book was addressing a younger audience but anyone that had read the previous section really didn't want to see checkered dinosaurs!

This book is EXACTLY what I've been looking for to give my outdated dino collection a boost. The fantastic illustrations, many of them photograph like, coupled with the wide range of information offered about dinosaurs and other creatures and events of their time, will run the gambit of audience appeal.

I know numerous children fascinated by dinosaurs so this book was a huge hit. It is colourful and well written. The key facts and questions are addressed in longer sections of writing which are interspersed with key dinosaur ‘fact files’ and pictures. This is ideal for a wide age range from 5-12 years in my opinion.
A excellent book I highly recommend and I will be buying copies for use in an educational setting.

This comes on more like a special edition of a magazine than a book, with wonderful artwork, but a very, very bitty structure. You can't read this from top left to bottom right in the standard fashion with ease, that's for sure, and even when we break off from almost centre-fold looks at T. rex and Archaeopteryx etc, the main essays are rudely interrupted by full-page box-outs, factoids and more distractions. In having these chapters based on scientific surveys of dinosaur feathers and colours, how they fluked themselves to the top of the food chains of their time, how they ran, ate, and so on, and even the thought experiments needed en route to Jurassic Parks for real, we lose all sense of narrative flow, and I am sure put off several young readers attracted by the funky visuals. Similarly, if this is for adults only, they would much prefer the more routine (nay, staid) design, and in seeking that in vain here would probably get more from New Scientist or some such.

I nanny 2 dinosaur crazed boys and they absolutely loved this book! They have enjoyed learning more about dinosaurs over and over again. We have read through this book numerous times and they (and myself) learn something new each time. If you enjoy learning about dinosaurs or have a child that loves dinosaurs this is definitely the book for you! Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I will be purchasing this for my favorite dinosaur loving boys as soon as it is released in August 2019!
