This was a very sweet little book. The author in her retirement has created a poustinia at the bottom of the garden. This is a Russian idea for a place of contemplation where it is possible to find god.

As someone who is not Christian this book wasn’t really written for me, but I was able to view it from a spiritual standpoint, and see the poustinia as a sort of meditation room.

The book is a series of 12 essays which take us through a year in the author’s life where daily she sits in the poustinia and contemplates different aspects of spirituality from gratitude, to life stages.

It was interesting to see how a very devote Christian views the self realisation that occurred.
