I found it rather enjoyable, and would recommend, I love a break up scene. No shame, I find the drama of breaking up and coming back together a big draw.

Having never read anything by this author previously I can safely say that she is on my must read list now. It was so good I read this within 24 hours and I didn’t want to put it down on the odd occasion I had to.

It was a pure escapist story based on a beautiful island talking about sunshine, beaches and the whole holiday vibe. I was addicted to reading this and I can’t wait to read the other books in the series.

While you get the predictive feeling and think you can guess what is going to happen it does keep you guessing will they, won’t they…..get it on? Be together at the end? Who knows because when you think you the answer, something happens to make you unsure. With a heart wrenching backstory as well as hot under the collar teasing plot lines this story gives you all the emotions at each end of the scale. You really feel like you are going through the experiences with the characters.

Drew Whitney is now on my list of book boyfriends such a wonderfully written alpha male with a soft side that doesn’t take away from the character. All I wanted to do when I was reading it was have this exact same holiday for myself and it has stayed with me long after I finished reading it.

The best thing about this book is the story, the alpha male and the way it made me escape and let my imagination run wild. Not to mention there are 3 books in the series so it doesn’t have to end when this book does.

Oh my, this book was so good! I am sorry to say that I didn't get it read before it was archived here on Net Galley, but I finally go around to actually purchasing the book on Amazon and I just read it last night. This book is really good and both the H and h are extremely likable characters. Both have dealt with loss in the past and are cautious about a new relationship. I am going to say that I could see each obstacle coming WAY in advance and most of the time, that detracts from the book. But, in this story it didn't and I'm so glad of that. Highly recommend this book.

I only have one complaint about this book, I wanted more!! I was quickly pulled into the story of Emily and Drew. The story line was like a breath of fresh air compared to other typical new start adult romances. There was no cliche affair or finding your groove back in paradise after a failed marriage. Instead, there was something much heavier and darker, in a way, that was affecting both Drew and Emily.

The chemistry between Drew and Emily was palpable from their first major interaction and it had me reading as fast as I could. Mason was able to take my emotions and play me like a fiddle with wondering what was going to happen next, though I was able to guess one of the major plot points and had a really great idea about the other.

I recommend this book to any one that loves a steamy romance, dealing with an older age group, and loves a read that pulls them in,

3.5 stars - this is the story of two people with painful pasts meeting up on vacation and sharing a "no personal details shared" week-long hookup. They really hit it off, but grudgingly agree to just let it go. However, once back in the real world, their paths collide. By then, secrets they both have, misunderstandings, and accidental lies of omission threaten the relationship they are trying to build.

I think maybe it's just me and that I'm getting too darn old for this kind of stuff, but I found all the assumptions, missed opportunities to come clean with their secrets, and all the things that popped up when they did try to talk things through drove me nutty. Yeah, I eye-rolled too many darn times to count - her Mom shows up unexpectedly when she's about to share her secret - he ends up getting drunk due to losing his courage when he's about to share his truth, etc. etc. etc.

If you like this kind of trope, then this one is done very well and the writing is very engaging.

This book was a lot of fun, and I truly enjoyed it. It was a bit over dramatic, but not in an off putting way. I look forward to reading more by this author.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this title.

However, I was not able to finish this as I was not able to connect with the story and the way the characters were written.

I have chosen to mark this title as a "DNF" and I apologize for the delay in sending this response to this title.

Thank you!

Emily and Drew meet in Hawaii and instantly have a physical and emotional connection. But both have been widowed (but don’t want to tell each other) and are worried about starting a new relationship so they agree to not mention anything from their outside lives, instead living in the moment and enjoying their holiday passion.
But back from vacation, they meet up again. Both have secrets which are now seeming more like lies due to the lack of sharing agrrement they made in Hawaii (hence the tilte of the book). Can they forgive each other? Can they be honest with themselves?
I admit to a little bit of snobbery. I would not usually choose this book due to the cover (I know, I know, never judge a book by its cover!) I made the assumption that it would be shallow and based on physicality.
Yes, Accidental Lies was steamy and sexy. But it was also very emotional and much deeper than I ever would have judged from the cover. I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this book and will be reading more from this author and from books with similar covers: lesson learned!
Dana Mason has created well rounded characters in Emily and Drew, and knowing the heartache they have both experienced, we as readers have our fingers crossed that they will overcome the barriers that they themselves have put in place.

Book Review- Accidental Lies by Dana Mason

This book started so sadly. Emily is still reeling from her losing her husband. You feel for her. The author does a good job of portraying her grief. I love how she and Drew meet. It is a bit comical. Sounds like something I would do, so I definitely could relate. It added a smile in a bit of sadness.
The author created a nice backdrop where Emily could come back to life. Maui was definitely a romantic setting where Emily and Drew could be together. I understand her reasoning for anonymity, but her fear drove me nuts. I see her guilt and understood that.
I love how they see each other again. You knew it was going to happen since she made a big deal about things in the beginning. However, it was quite shocking for both characters. I love the situation they are placed in when they see each other again. I can just imagine Emily trying to speak through her shock. I picture a fish mouth opening and closing without sound. They are both happy to see each other and I even love the complications that the author adds. Emily is ridiculous though. She panics over everything. It makes me think what kind of lawyer she is. To be honest both characters started behaving ridiculously. Neither would take the leap of faith until it was forced. The communication, or should I say lack thereof, was extremely frustrating to wade through as the story evolved. It was obviously the two characters were good pairing but nothing like letting the past and fear to rule your life. It was a good read and I liked the main storyline. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Accidental Lies is off the charts - not enough stars in the sky kind of read !! Absolutely loved it ....

Thank you so much Netgalley for this ARC & introducing me to Dana Mason who is clearly ONE SUPER TALENTED AUTHOR !!

This review is my honest opinion & has not been influenced in any way ...

Let’s start with how hot is this cover & for those picturing Drew it’s absolute perfection. GAHHHH this book had me hooked after the first few chapters as uptight Emily & Drew meet while on vacation in Hawaii. It’s not just a vacation these (2) very complex characters have suffered heartache & incredible loss that you would never imagine .... Accidental Lies is not either character specifically having told the other lies - just not being entirety truthful due to the fact both are still hurting & can’t believe meeting the other is “to good to be true”. Their pact to not take things further than vacation is a huge HUGE mistake.

I very rarely get emotional or teary eyed when reading a book but this one really moved me as I kept putting myself in these characters shoes wondering if something similar had happened to me would I be so brave as to put my heart on the line & risk it all again for love.

Dana Mason you have a HUGE new fan !!

I would highly recommend this book & anything by this author.

Great read - storyline & characters !! Loved every minute of Drew & Emily’s story & their HEA will make your heart absolutely glow !!

Accidental Lies? Sorry, not accidental...intentional. Or lies of omission. Either way, once the MC’s were beyond just a “vacation fling”, secrets should have been revealed.

Sorry, just not my cuppa.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really sweet, easy read.

Emily is locked out of room when she first meets Drew. Some sarcasm and flirting happens and after getting to know each other a bit, they decide to have a summer fling without telling each other everything about themselves, making things vague etc.
Obviously they end up with real feelings for each other but decide to keep it a holiday fling.

The story itself is predictable but it is a fun light-hearted read with likeable characters.

Emily is still grieving for her husband after 4 years. Her brother Mac sends her to Maui to take a break and have some fun. There she meets Drew, who is a widower with two small children. But they agree to not share anything about their personal lives. They spend a magical week together and both are sad when it came to an end. Drew wanted to continue their relationship, but Emily was leery and didn’t want to borrow trouble.

Unexpectedly, Drew turned out to be the contractor who was going to do the renovation work on Emily and her law partner’s new office. They reconnect, but pretty soon all their deliberate omissions catch up with them. Both have to deal with some very tough emotions, especially after Emily finds out she’s pregnant.

I liked Drew a lot, Emily was a bit harder to warm up to. Drew had some issues of his own, but he was willing to move on and take a risk. Emily was still stuck in the past and her feelings of guilt concerning her dead husband. She had a lot of moments of self-flagellation and self pity.

It was a fun read and Drew’s kids were great. Emily did manage to look past her insecurities to give Drew a chance. I still feel that Drew had a better story arc in terms of coming to grips with his problems and growing as a person.

I received an advanced copy of the book from Netgalley to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Starting Accidental Lies, all I could think was: this book was the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. So sweet that I was calling my dentist. As the blurb suggests, the book starts off with two strangers suffering their own losses finding temporary companionship and peace in one another.

But as the story progressed–as aptly named as the book is–the lies keep piling one on top of the other and by the time I was at seventy percent, I was pretty frustrated because as a reader we’ve pretty much come to an understanding of what has happened in each of their lives but their inability to communicate and wanting to hide from the truth to hold whatever this temporary peace was…*let’s out a breath* It was not easy to say the least.

Then, my absolute favourite thing happened. Family. The family members(/friends) of the protagonist began giving him/her good advice, calling them on their fears and insecurities and addressing where following the path they were on correctly could lead them. I loved that finally finally we were seeing characters receive some level-headed advice rather than one that sends them further spiralling.

The last thirty percent really made the book so much more for me. The first seventy percent of the book was mostly light for me, but the last thirty was more emotional. Truth be told, I wasn’t sure how Accidental Lies turned out so well towards the end, it seemed like a cliché situation that was handled surprisingly well.

Four stars! I highly recommend it to anyone who would like an easy read but are prepared for a little bit of frustration and emotional moments towards the end.

Emily is sent on a vacation by her brother to relax. There she meets Drew.
They’re attracted to each other but decide to keep the life back home a secret.
Sparks and motions fly high in this book.
There were a few parts where I thought that Drew should have just blurted out him being a widower and having kids, but Emily wasn’t that innocent. She kept saying “let’s forget the real world, and not talk about our lives” stuff, so she made him shut up about his personal life.

Other then that I thought this was a good read!

I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

I have moved this to the top of my list for books and authors. This love story was perfect. It was about loss, healing and finding love again. You will not be disappointed.

I should preface this review by stating that I'm usually into a much darker romance read, but I went on a limb with a nice contemporary read with this one. I was definitely not disappointed because this story was great! This is the story of a widow and widower who have a very reluctant fling while on vacation in Hawaii, and the story follows how their hearts grow for one another and we see their journeys following the fling. The author's writing is absolutely superb and the flow of the story is fantastic. I was never bored and really wanted to see how the characters' stories were going to unfold. There wasn't a single minute in the book where I questioned what the author was trying to convey and, at the same time, could never predict where things were going to go. I think that's important in a great story - it was relatable but not predictable or stale. I love refreshing whirlwind romance stories and this is definitely that. So if you're into a story about finding next love after losing first love, I highly recommend this story!
