Not what I was expecting - I thought this would be a more balanced view on the different paths within the Christian faith. Not sure if it's the best way to introduce people to Christianity unless they're planning in the footsteps of the author exactly.

I really tried to get through this whole book. I couldn't make it past the 4th chapter. The idea is a good one. After asking Jesus into your heart, what should you do next? The problem is, this book is more of a biography of the author and less than helpful for a brand new Christian. He repeatedly goes off on tangents about his life; church politics, "an assembly" falling apart after poor management, riding home after church and smoking pot!?

There are some general topics covered as well. The ideas explored are for someone who already has some faith foundation. A new Christian will most likely be overwhelmed by this book.

Additionally, the use of King James Version of scripture makes for difficult reading, when NIV or ESV would allow for easier understanding and relatability.

There is probably a place for this book in a church library, but not for the use of new believers.

If one is interested in different viewpoints this book might be a place to start. I admittedly didn't read it all as I suppose I have a Southern Baptist viewpont, and am not an extremist. While he appears to give leeway in some Bible teachings , it would seem that others are taken quite literally and don't seem very Christian like at all. While I totally agree that one should extricate yourself from people and situations with illegal habits /behaviors and other things you do not partake in, I really don't think you should advocate for kicking them to the curb or out of church. Those are the people who need guidance and prayer, did Jesus not go and sit with the sinners?? You will know at what time you are 'casting your pearls to the swine", you don't need to make a showing of it. those people generally end up doing it own their own. Look for a Bible teaching church and your own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Pure religion for the sake of calling yourself saved Christian is not what you want to seek. Work toward being more Christ like. When you have questions, go back to Genesis, and seek people who study scripture. I think the author was trying to get to these points, just some of his methods described are a little more dogmatic and literal than is required.

I stopped reading 7 percent in. This book is just a checklist of black and white. I was called "antichrist" and knew I would not find a closer relationship with Jesus inside this book. While I know I don't have to agree with the author and his particular belief, I cannot recommend something so derisive to new Christians.

This was an interesting book. It teaches us how we should conduct ourselves as Christians.

** Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review **
