I'll be honest and say that this book surprised me; I didn’t know that a rector could have such strong feelings. Even though this is a short read you could feel the connection between Penelope and Hugh from the bet go. They have much in common with wanting to help those less fortunate. I loved how much he wanted to protect her even if she would choose a life without him. It was so fun to read how he involved all the previous couples to help him secure his future with her.

Final book in the series and it was a perfect conclusion to it. If you’re looking for a fun, short and steamy in all the right places read for the summer this series is for you.

As last in this quick series of the Wicked Duke, this is probably the most unusual of situations, and it works. Lady Penelope is about to be married off to a man who could be her grandfather. So, in order to ‘ruin’ herself, she plans her own kidnapping, but it was not to really be a kidnapping, yet it turned into a kidnapping – almost. Pen wants to make sure her almost betrothed will not want her. Enter the most respectful Rector Hugh Tarleton. He is a loyal, believable rector who is true to his calling. Ms. Burke handles the sensual part of the requisite physical relationship with respect toward both Pen and Hugh.

This is a quick love match/relationship, but again, it works. You laugh at some of the bumbling things that happen while hoping these two can work out the difficulties quickly. If you are just now finding this series, go the first one and just enjoy. This collaboration between Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley has been fast, sensual and truly romantic with great Heroes/heroines.

Two likeable people, Lady Penelope and Rector Hugh, are thrust together under unusual circumstances - her kidnapping. I feel the author should have included some female friends from the previous books in the series to help her along the way. A rector keeping a young woman out all night to help her ruin herself is a bit over the top for me. I did enjoy the entire Wicked Dukes Club Series! I received an ARC for my honest review.

This series has been so great to follow, and Darcy Burke has written another lovely romance between Lady Penelope Wakefield and Rector Hugh Tarleton. Penelope has escaped from her family home, so as to prevent her parents marrying her to man old enough to be her grandfather. However, her plans go awry when Hugh foils her actual kidnapping. Hugh then endeavours to help Penelope in her attempts to avoid marriage, but in doing so finds himself, falling in love. Whilst Hugh is everything that Penelope could ever want in a man, their different stations in society, mean that their chance of being together is near impossible, or is it?
This was a delightful romance with two very likeable characters, who are the perfect balance for each other. Despite my apprehension about a romance with a rector, this is told in such a sensitive nature, reflecting the type of people that Penelope and Hugh are. Even the criminals in this book are ‘good’ in their own way, making this such a great read.

This is the last book in the Wicked Dukes series, and unfortunately for me, it was the one I liked the least.

Let me back up a bit. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone. There are some mentions of prior characters, but its nothing that takes away from the current story, or makes it hard to understand. That wasn't the problem.

The problem is I loathe "insta" romances. The kind where two people meet and all of the sudden they are thinking about ripping each others clothes off, and hearing wedding bells. They know nothing about each other. When you add to it that one of these characters is a rector for crying out loud? A man who should have known better, but still agrees to go along with a lie? And sleep in the same bed as an unmarried woman that he's just met?Yeah. It just didn't sit right with me. It was too "sudden" and read more like she was trying to find inappropriate ways to show how thankful she was for his rescue.

I think this story could have been made more enjoyable with a couple of additions and maybe one minor change. From the start we are told that Penelope is trying to fake her own kidnapping in order to appeared ruined so that she can get out of marrying a man old enough to be her Grandfather. When she meets Hugh, she goes on to tell him how horrible her family is to her, but with the exception of two small scenes, we don't get to see that. There is no interaction with her family at all. She doesn't even appear to have any friends either, up until the last few chapters of the book. Why is she so sheltered? I definitely needed more background on her to help her make sense. Especially when I am expected to believe that a girl so sheltered suddenly becomes so flirtatious with a man she just met.

With Hugh, I definitely would have liked to have seen more self-control and resistance from him. And while I definitely enjoyed watching the man her parents picked for her firmly put in his place, I found it hard to believe that Hugh would be the one to do it himself considering all he stood to lose.

Even then, this was a quick read, and I am sure there is still a wide audience who enjoys fast romances with unconventional characters. I would read more from this author.

Short and sweet and very sexy. I loved the staunch clergyman struggling with his mortal lust plot line! Very original. I’ve enjoyed all her books but this is her best yet.

ONE NIGHT OF TEMPTATION is the sixth book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. Though it would stand on its own, there is a lot of interaction with characters from the previous books in the series.

This just may be the most romantic of all of the historic romances I have ever read. Temptations, interruptions, and frustrations filled the night for Lady Penelope and Pastor Hugh, but there was never a doubt where it should lead.

The villains – the man Lady Penelope’s father hopes to force her to marry as well as her father – are deliciously evil. The Earl of Findon is a dastardly, slimy, creep, that it was fun to jeer. I could almost hear the ominous organ music as each took the stage in my mind.

In the fashion of the old Dudley Do-Right cartoons (yes, I’m that old), Rector Hugh Tarleton is honorable, but fierce. This just may be my favorite of all of the historical romances I have ever read… EVER!

Darcy Burke has again created a delightful romance in her latest installment in the Wicked Dukes Club series. In a comedy of errors, Rector Hugh Tarleton, has no choice but to rescue Lady Penelope Wakefield from a ruse gone horribly awry. The time they were forced to spend together was filled with enjoyable conversation and an honest sharing of both past and present hurts, pains and joys. Friendship was an underlying thread woven throughout this story which was absolutely refreshing. To sum it up, a true feel-good story, which seems to be a staple from this author.

In a time when marriages are usually arranged by father’s for financial or political gains, Penelope finds herself about to become engaged to a man old enough to be her grandfather. She decides to fake her own kidnapping and if she stays out overnight she will be ruined in the eyes of society and he will refuse to marry her. Things do not work out like she had planned but in the end there is a surprise wedding that even she had not thought would have happened. The story is well written and entertaining. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.

Lady Penelope Wakefield's parents have determined that she is to marry soon. She is set to marry a man who is old enough to be her grandfather. Therefore, Penelope then sets in motion a fake kidnapping that will cause for her reputation to be ruined. When her plan does not go the way she wanted and it actually becomes a real kidnapping she is luckily rescued by Hugh Tarleton. Hugh is a rector in St. Giles. This is where the adventure begins for both of them. While evading the police, who were sent by her parents to find her, they spend time together while they plan on how she is to return to her home.
Since this is the final book in the series I was a little disappointed in it. Both Penelope and Hugh were okay characters for me. I wanted more sweet moments between them. Most of the time Hugh is trying to evade Penelope's flirting and advances. He tries hard to resist her, since he is the rector and must set an example. It just seemed a little too much. We do see previous characters. Some of them aid Hugh in his plan to get Penelope back.
Overall it was a great series. I just wanted it to close with a bang.

Lady Penelope Wakefield and Rector Hugh Tarleton is a society mismatch. But their attraction is palpable. Hugh has a generous heart whilst Penelope is starved for affection. The parish needs donation, Lady Penelope has the means to donate. The rector offered the lady a sanctuary albeit temporarily. The give-and-take relationship works brilliantly for them.

This love story of a rector and a lady is sweet. I just wish the story has more pizzazz. It lacks vitality.

The pace of this title just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I was very excited for this title because I love a good hero that isn’t a titled lord on occasion. But when the characters have literally known each other a few hours and are already getting jealous and thinking of forever together I check out. Sadly, I felt this was a disappointing end to an otherwise great series.

Darcy writes the even numbered books and Erica writes the odd numbered books. You could read this as a stand-alone but I have very much enjoyed reading the other books in the series. Lady Penelope Wakefield is desperate to get out a marriage her parents have arranged with a gentleman old enough to be her grandfather and who is frankly quite nasty. Her desperation leads her to arrange a false kidnapping and that turns out to be a bit of a disaster but thankfully she is rescued by Rector Hugh Tarleton who is handsome and kind and just what one would look for in a husband if only she was not the daughter of a marquess. Not my favorite of this series, but decent read. My biggest problem with this was that I had a hard time connecting with both Penelope and Hugh. For a rector, I could see that he wants to help people and he did help Pen, but some of the things he did seemed a little underhanded for his position.

Pen was more understandable as she did not want to marry a creepy old man even if he was an Earl! She just did not think her plan through very well, and was kind of too trusting!

I did enjoy seeing the other characters from the series as they helped Hugh and Pen along the way, and loved that the Bishop did support them at the end.

This book started off with a bang. With Lady Penelope about to go through with her plan of running away for a night and pretending to be kidnapped. Which I didn’t really expect but I thought it was a great introduction to this character. It said so much about Penelope and I was instantly curious as to why.

I loved that a big part of the book was just Penelope and Hugh talking in an inn, and hiding Penelope away from anyone that might tell her family where she was, getting to know each other. I really loved this because as they both got know each other I also got to know them which I thought was great.

The short amount of time that this story is set over made it feel very much like a whirlwind romance. They develop feelings for each other over night. They end up having to share a room and a bed, and developed into a steamy moment in the morning (until they were interrupted ☹). Their relationship I really enjoyed reading about and I felt like the two of them got to know each other pretty well. I also loved the mutual pinning.

I thought that this was a great end to the series and I really loved that it involved more of other characters from other books in the series. Such as Eastliegh and Colehaven helping Hugh. I felt like it tied up the series very nicely and also showed what happened with main characters of the past 5 books.

Lady Penelope Wakefield has a kind heart and wants to marry for love even though she has seen little kindness or love in her home. Her father wants to marry her off to an odious old man (for his own benefit). To escape the marriage, she plans a pretend kidnapping complete with ransom notes, and plans to be gone just long enough to make her parents and the lecherous suitor think she is ruined. It seemed to be a sound plan, but it turns out to be a real kidnapping. She had trusted the wrong person. Fortunately, Hugh Tarleton comes upon the scene and rescues her. Hugh is a wonderful character. He disdains society and their superficial attempts to help the less fortunate. He is a caring man dedicated to his parishioners. They stay up most of that night getting to know each other. He treats Pen with the same protective care and delivers her safely home, but to what? After a bit of soul searching, Hugh decides that he wants to marry Pen. He needs a plan. Who should he go to for advice? He decides to get a little help from his friends (and their wives) at the Wicked Dukes Tavern. Before the plan plays out, there is a confrontation with Pen’s angry father and the Bishop. How does everything turn out? You have to see for yourself.

The Wicked Duke is a successful tavern owned by Caleb Sutton, the Duke of Colehaven and Valentine Fairfax, Duke of Eastleigh, the original Wicked Dukes. In One Night of Temptation we meet yet another charming, sigh-worthy patron, sadly the last of London’s most notorious tavern. Hugh and Pen have a lovely story. I enjoyed and happily recommend it. Each of the couples in these stories have learned about themselves and each other. They have found love and acceptance – family. As predicted, The Wicked Dukes Club is an awesome series by Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley.

I think that, One Night of Temptation, might be my favorite book in The Wicked Duke series. Both Hugh and Penelope have a sort of Innocence about them that I appreciate. It was fun to watch them fall in love throughout the story.

A planned "kidnapping" turns into a real one, when Penelope Wakefield takes desperate measures to ruin her reputation to avoid marriage to creepy Lord Findon. That night she ends up in a bad part of London with her kidnappers. The local rector, Hugh Tarleton comes to her rescue. Spending the night together in hiding from Bow Street Runners, Hugh plans to take her home the next day, hopefully saving her reputation.
But something happens that night, they fall in love.
Dang! I hated for this series to end. These short novellas moved quickly. Insert some humor with lots happening, especially between two people going against the odds to be together. I hope Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley do another series.
