Ava has a perfect life, a nice house, loving husband and kids, until one night a violent break-in plunges her world into chaos. She soon realises that this was not a random break-in, but a targeted attack on her family.

As Ava investigates, she soon sees that not everything is adding up and she starts to wonder who she can trust.

This was a rollercoaster of a book. It started strong, with action straight away and it was a fast-paced thriller. Just as I thought I had an idea of where the story was going, there was a twist. So many twists - in fact maybe too many, if that's possible? Some of the story seemed a tad unbelievable, but overall I found this to be an enjoyable thriller. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Thanks to NetGalley for this Kindle ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow where to start without giving too much away, anyway Ava is married to Robert a successful business man and they have 2 daughters one at home one at college, also living with them above the garage is Gene, Roberts stoner son from his first marriage, but when Ava gets a call from her youngest daughter June saying she isn’t feeling well and can she be picked up from a sleepover early, she doesn’t hesitate, she just picks her up and takes her home, only to find armed intruders there, the rest you’ll have to read and enjoy the rollercoaster that Ava finds herself in, who were the masked men and what did they want? If only Ava could remember.
This is a great thriller and I look forward to reading more from Sarah Alderson.

Ava leads a privileged life. She lives in a big house in California, money is no object and her husband's handsome. But things haven't been easy for her either. Her daughter has just recovered from having cancer and her stepson smokes pot in their guest house. But her perfect life is shattered when one night she was assaulted in her home after a burglary. Her ex, Nate is the investigating officer.

There are so many red herrings in this addictive read. I was guessing like crazy ut I eventually got it right. Ava is ot a likeable character but I did feel sorry for her. I really enjoyed the first half of this book more than the second half. It seemed to be more pacy. This is a cleverly crafted read that I'm sure you will enjoy.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton and the author Sarah Alderson for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

How well do we really know anyone? We may think we know. Deep down we realize we will never really know all about someone, so we pretend we do... until the unthinkable happens. We suddenly have fleeting thoughts that people we are close to have done bad things but doubt ourselves and ultimately convince ourselves that person we are second guessing would never do such a bad thing. This book starts out as a home invasion gone bad. Who were the invaders, why did they do it and why can’t Ava remember everything from that night? Her world is turned upside down when she learns more information about why the invasion happened. Can she believe this information? She cannot believe anything in her life is true anymore until she decides to try to put the pieces together from that fateful night . This book had so many twists my mind is still spinning well after finishing it. It was unbelievably good. I would highly recommend this book!

What starts off as a house burglary quickly descends into a life changing night for Ava Walker and her family.

I don't usually read a book in one sitting, but this was so easy to read in one go (and given I had the peace and quiet to do) it was like a film. And the tension kept mounting as each chapter passed.

This story makes us wonder how well do we know the people around us? And, those little white lies people tell can surely escalate.

So what lies do the Walker family hold? I'll tell you but it would ruin your enjoyment of this very fast paced, action packed story.

And, even when you think that the bad guys have been caught it just ain't over

Well, well, well. Sarah Alderson you’ve restored my faith that thrillers can indeed be thrilling. I’ve had some let downs recently, but not with In Her Eyes. Sure those other thrillers had some action, but In Her Eyes started with action and kept it going. And besides the first scenes that leave you wanting more, Alderson had twist after twist. And that final turn left me thinking about the books for days.

If you look closer at the story you could start picking it apart. There are a lot of coincidences coming together and that may be hard for others to look past. But for me, I let the story carry me away and just enjoyed where it took me. There have been suspense and thrillers that I’ve read where too many unbelievable things had to happen in order for the story to flow or come together. But all of the things happening in In Her Eyes were believable enough in this day and age that I could see it happening.

I really don’t want to give anything away, so just purchase the book and take time afterwards to appreciate that (hopefully) your life is nothing like those in the book!

Ava seems to have the perfect life with her marriage to the wealthy Robert. Alongside her two daughters and her stepson Gene life seems to be going pretty well until their house is raided by burglars. In a twist of fate Ava's life is turned upside down when her youngest daughter is 'targeted' and she finds out that the life she was living was not all that it seems. Plus there is the added pressure of finding why they were targeted and by who.

I found this book initially gripping but around the halfway mark my attention started to wander. There was just so much going on that I had to keep rereading parts to make sure I fully understood. I didn't find the characters particularly likeable either and I think that's what my main problem was.

All in all a decent read but sometimes hard to follow.

Took me a minute to get into the book, but once the story took hold, I couldn’t stop until the end.
A robbery gone wrong. Tears the family apart. It’s up to Ava to sort it all out and deal with the fall out. Gripping.

4 stars.

Woah. Talk about your life turned upside down and then inside out! This was a great story with so many twists and turns that you needed to keep your mind open to almost anything happening because there were that many surprises along the way that made this a compulsive read. Basically nothing is as it seems. Such great story telling. I'm sure to pick up another book by this author again in the future. It did not disappoint.

My first Sarah Alderson book and definitely will not be my last! In Her Eyes is a wild ride. This was SO well done. Extremely well developed characters, strong storyline and all the twists and turns I crave in a thriller. This book kept me guessing until the very last page.

Huge thank you to NetGalley for my review copy!

Solidly good psychological suspense!
Started off with an exciting incident and had many twists and turns from there. I really don't like armchair detecting, so a few points off for Ava going investigating on her own, but overall this is a well-written tale. A couple of things I didn't see coming, which I love in a good suspense novel.
Very fast-paced, I finished it in less than a day. If you like psychological suspense, this is a great choice.

Brilliant start
Possibly so good it was never then going to replicate throughout
Ava is just out of the shower when she hears screaming, her family are the victims of a ‘home invasion’ and its scary stuff, literally heart pounding as the scene is described word for word in terrifying detail, the husband and 1 daughter are left hospitalised and Ava forever mentally scarred, 2 other adultish children fight their own demons as well as trying to cope with all that has happened
But who did this to them, and why?
The book continues as Ava tries to work this out and soon everyone comes under suspicion, at times it drags tbh and as the ‘plot thickens’ so ( imo ) does the ‘believability’ of what is unfolding
It is tense although never manages to rise to the crescendo of the opening and there are surprises but some were hard to swallow and as the book drew to a close so did my ability to believe it all
BUT its a good read, its exciting and I know I keep saying it but the opening was one of the best probably ever read
Easy written means easy read just not, this time, that easily believed at the end
7/10

This book is full of twists and turns, just when you think you've sussed someone or something out you're proven wrong.
How well do you really know your family? How many lies can one family have?
This book is written from Ava's point of view, and her struggle to find out how June, her daughter, ended up in hospital after a burglary that had gone terribly wrong.
Ava is on mission, and does her own detective work as to why they were targeted in the first place, but finds her family have a lot of secrets.
This is an addictive read, which i thoroughly enjoyed, and will be looking into reading other books from this author.
Will definitely recommend to friends

Thoroughly enjoyed this quite realistic story. On the whole the characters were likeable and believable. It was thrilling in places and a real had me constantly guessing fairly unsuccessfully I have to admit.
I would have liked to give it four and a half stars but not quite good enough for a five star rating so four it is.
I would and shall heartily recommend it and I will follow the author for any future offerings.

The book did drag in some parts, especially in the middle, which pulled me out of the story. Some scenes seemed a bit over the top, and the ending felt a bit rushed. However, there were some red herrings and unexpected twists that made this an enjoyable read, but I'd hoped for more of a thriller than I found with this one.

This is a gripping read from start to finish, at times a little unbelievable but definitely enjoyable, if you look through some of the things that happen, surely that’s what fiction is. I liked the characters they were believable and relatable. I liked that the author didn’t tie all the loose ends, in fact I think it’s quite brave, I find it annoying at times when reading a book and the last chapter is rushed to make sure all the ends are tied in a nice neat little bow.

Ava has what she thinks is a perfect life, her husband Nate of 20 years, a lovely house, 2 daughters, some of her friends are even envious of her life. Until it’s not perfect. Two burglars break into the house one night, and their twelve year old daughter June ends up in a coma, barely alive. Is her life as perfect as she thought it was?

The Detective investigating the burglary is an old flame of Ava’s, they had had a thing in high school, this makes Ava feel both uneasy but also gives her comfort. When investigating though it seems Ava’s life is far from the perfect she believed it to be. They are in great financial difficulties which Nate has not told Ava, this gives him a motive to commit the burglary. But would he hurt their daughter? . The burglars escape and Ava worries that they may come back. Does Ava really know the man she has been married to for the last 20 years?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it hooked me from the beginning, to the end, which is what I like, nothing worse than reading a book and not being engaged in the story. There were several times I thought I had worked the story out, but then something else came along and blew my theory out of the water, there are so many layers to this book it’s like peeling an onion, with so many secrets and lies being revealed as each layer is removed. I’m sure there are readers that won’t like that this goes into some slightly unbelievable territory, but for me it was ok. I still enjoyed it. The plot was tight, the pace was fast, keeping you engaged as the story developed.

At the end there are still secrets left in the dark, and a characters life is in the balance. A truly gripping and fast paced read. A book I couldn’t put Down.

I would like to thank Sarah Alderson and Mulholland publishers for allowing me to read an ARC copy of In Her Eyes.

This is a fast paced story based around Ava and her “lies” and her family consisting of a husband called Richard, a stepson, Gene and two daughters, Hannah and June.

All living the rich life after Richard develops an App which is successful and then it all comes crashing down around their ears when Ava returns home from a night out with her friend Laurie and listening to her marital problems.

The home is raided by two burglars, but June gets shot in the chest and is on a life support.

As the story unfolds at a fast pace, you learn that Richard is bankrupt, Gene owes money to drug dealers and that Ava has a history with Nate the Sheriff who is on the case to find out who carried out the botched burglary.

This isn’t the first book that I’ve read lately where a main character seems to be able to solve a crime and take the law into their own hands when nobody can see the evidence in front of their faces. It’s certainly not a winning storyline and that’s when I started to wain with the book..

That and the fact that it’s plainly obvious that the history with Nate has a more serious outcome.

I’ve given 3* as it starts okay, and I was enjoying the storyline until it careered off and became very predictable.

How well do you know the ones you love? Yes we have heard this so many times in the blurb for a new book. Well this read is so much more. A home invasion which goes horribly wrong. I was hooked from page one. Ava the main character is one ballsy lady and will do whatever she can to protect her family but is she wrong? I started this book in the afternoon and finally turned the last page in the wee hours. I could not put this book down. I spent most of this read sat on the edge of my seat and tapping my kindle faster and faster. Everyone in this book has secrets. A real page turner, full of tension and suspense. I had to know the truth and OMG when the truth was finally revealed I was shocked. Some secrets need to be buried and never see the light of day. Heartbraking, gripping and a must read. An easy five stars and so Highly Recommended. A new author for me and I am now busy searching for more of her work. A very happy reader.
I would like to thank the, publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton Book and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ava is living the kind of life most people would love. She is married to a successful tech multi millionaire has a step son and two lovely daughters until one evening when everything changes.. Shortly after arriving home from picking up her 12 year old daughter June from a friend's house she goes upstairs to shower only to hear a strange noise and gets out to investigate. What she finds is her husband Robert and daughter being held at gunpoint.

With her daughter lying in the hospital in a coma Ava will do anything and everything it takes to find out who is responsible. She soon learns that everyone is hiding secrets and lies. After all Ava herself has been doing the same.

I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller and Ava was a great character. My only issue was that she kind of turned into Sherlock Holmes. She was just too smart and good at everything. It didn't really take away from the novel much for me. There were some really good twists and turns! I am currently reading "Friends Like These" by Sarah Alderson and that book is so fantastic I am going to read all of her novels now!
