Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advanced read in exchange for this review.

I was super excited to read another Tracy Crosswhite novel!  It did not disappoint.

Tracy is a new mom to daughter Daniela.  She and her husband find themselves working on cases that somehow cross each other.  How much is Tracy willing to risk to solve a decades long homicide?

Wow!  Impressive myster with characters that I love.  Dugoni does a fantastic job of building the mystery while keeping the reader attached to the characters.  I really hope he writes another in this series.

There is a certain amount of excitement sitting down to start a new book. Has the author written another complex mystery? Will the story feel fresh? What can a new setting offer to characters I've seen before? Robert Dugoni has delivered all that and more In his new book A Cold Trail.

The story opens in Cedar Grove, Washington. The year is 1993. Heather Johansen is walking home on a cold snowy night when she hears a car coming. Should she try to get a ride home or is it him trying to change her mind?

Being surprised by the opening pages is a great way to begin a story. The characters and plot continued to keep me interested throughout the book. There was no question about the rating of this book. Five stars all the way.I

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from Thomas & Mercer through NetGalley. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

I love this author and have read other books in this series. For some reason I really could not get into this book. I tried several times because I know this author is good. This book was just too slow getting moving. After several attempts I have up for good.

A Cold Trail is another solid entry in the Tracy Crosswhite series. Tracy and Dan are back in Cedar Grove while their house in Seattle is being renovated. Tracy, who is still on maternity leave from the Seattle PD, agrees to help the local police chief with a suspicious death of a police officer's wife. Dan is working on a case involving Cedar Grove's attempt to revitalize its downtown by buying failing businesses from their original owners. As Tracy and Dan continue to work on their respective cases it becomes clear that they both might be connected to an unsolved murder from years ago. I look forward to seeing more of Tracy and Dan in future books.

Unfortunately I could not get into this book. Read about 50 pages... my limit, and could not get into. Good luck with the book. I have read some of the authors others but for some reason this one started too slow.

I’ve been obsessed with this series since the very beginning and I absolutely was not let down by this book! I LOVED getting back to the original roots and was obsessed with the mystery/characters, and everything else!! Seeing Tracy become a mother was also so sweet and I adore hers and Dan’s relationship. My Sisters Grave has always been my favorite in the series but now I’m finding it really hard to choose! I can’t wait for the next one to come out and see the next steps in Tracey, Dan and Daniellas lives!

This is book 7 in the Tracey Crosswhite series and you definitely need to read the previous books in the series in order to fully understand the characters and the back story.
‘A Cold Trail’ picks up around 7 months after the ending of the previous book ‘A Steep Price’. Tracey and her husband Dan are now new parents to a baby girl and back living in their home town of Cedar Grove, while their farmhouse is being renovated.
Both Tracey and Dan are kept busy while back in Cedar Grove. Tracey is asked by the local police chief to help him investigate a recent arson and a cold case murder and Dan is representing a local business trader in his fight against the local council. When their two cases begin to crisscross Dan and Tracey realise their home town still holds many secrets worth killing for.
It seemed a bit odd to be back in Cedar Grove with Tracey solving another cold case murder, it felt a bit redundant to me. I also thought the book might focus a bit more on the struggle of Tracey being a cop and a mum. This was only touched on briefly and when it did it was about Dan mum shaming Tracey for thinking she could have a job and be a mother at the same time.
I was disappointed with ‘A Cold Trail’. I didn’t feel it was up to par with previous books in the series. While I liked Dan a lot in previous books I couldn’t stand him in this one. It was like he’d done a complete 180, going from a supportive partner to a man who thinks a women’s place is in the home. I’m not sure why his character got more of a storyline in this book. I think it was a wasted opportunity not to delve more into how Tracey was coping being a new mother and all that entails.
Overall I found this to be just an ok read. Maybe it’s time to wrap up the Tracey Crosswhite series, especially as Tracey seems to be sharing her storyline’s with various other characters lately.

A COLD TRAIL....Robert Dugoni
Tracy is a homicide detective, with her husband and a new baby they come to Cedar Grove. Soon she has a case involving the murder of a local journalist.. This goes from the past to the present. Things turn risky for all the people that Tracie loves in trying to solve the case. His books are always good. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Thomas & Mercer

A Cold Trail is a hot read! Another well paced and written thriller from Robert Dugoni. Tracy Crosswhite, a detective and her husband Dan, an attorney are staying in their old stomping grounds, Cedar Grove, while their house is being updated. They both ultimately get involved in solving the same case. Tracy embodies the “modern mother” so well, trying to achieve that illusory balance between raising a family and continuing with a career, all while keeping the romance in her marriage. Loved getting to know more about each character without getting bogged down with irrelevant details that detract from a readers enjoyment of the plot.
Many many thanks to Robert Dugoni, Thomas & Mercer, and NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read the arc of this fast paced thriller.

Tracy Crosswhite is a homicide detective who comes home with her husband and new daughter and is caught up in a new case. An old friend gets her involved in the case.

This was my first read of the authors but I would certainly read more. The writing was well thought out and the twists and turns of the crime world were exciting and engaging. I’d recommend this book to people who love good mysteries and crime fiction!

Things I don't want to read in any genre: Overly long sentences with too much detail in them; fat-shaming; sexism; ageism; stereotyping; dialect; rushing characterization; poorly organized paragraphs. This book has them all.

I really enjoyed this read. Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC. I took to Tracy immediately. She is a smart, tenacious new mom, who lands back in her home town while her house in Seattle is remodeled. The suspense starts almost immediately. All I could do was hold on and enjoy the ride!

Robert Dugoni really outdid himself. This book keeps getting better and better as you get further into it! Location in a small mountain town in Washington was delightful. So many unexpected twists and turns in the plot kept me turning pages long after I should have gone to bed!

Robert Dugoni has written another book about the homicide detective, Tracy Crosswhite.
His new case involves a murder of a police officers wife and a reporter who were investigating another case.
This book goes back and forth from the present to the past.
However, investigating this case becomes very risky for Tracy , and puts everyone she loves in jeopardy
Dugoni is one of the best at writing thrilling books about murder
This is a great summer read

As this is one of my favorite series, I am very grateful to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me the ARC to read and review; thanks so much! This is #7 in the Tracy Crosswhite series. I have enjoyed this series immensely, and was a bit worried about - gasp - CHANGE, because now Tracy is the mother of a new baby and is on maternity leave. She and Dan are back in their old town, Cedar Grove, while their home in Seattle is being renovated. I enjoyed this outing, but it is a bit different from the others. Dan is an attorney and his local case takes the reader to court a few times, including some terrific courtroom battle scenes towards the end. Other Tracy Crosswhite books are also part legal thriller, especially My Sister's Grave and Close to Home. Here, the likable local sheriff asks Tracy to look into a Cedar Grove murder that seems to be tied into others. Traci agrees, but hires an Irish Nannie so she can investigate between baby care and feeds. Some readers seemed to think this made the plot go a bit too slowly, but I was a happy camper, turning the pages as quickly as ever. It was also lots of fun to have Faz, Tracy's buddy homicide investigator from Seattle come down to Cedar Grove and help out while he was on leave recovering from injuries he received during the last book. The denouement was exciting, if a bit predictable (for me, anyway). The loose ends are all tied up, and Tracy and Dan go home to Seattle in the end. Never a cliffhanger from Robert Dugoni, I'm happy to say.

Robert Dugoni delivers again in his seventh installment of the Tracy Crosswhite series. A Cold Trail continues the story of Tracy Crosswhite and her life as a homicide detective. In this book, Tracy and her husband Dan are figuring out life with their new baby Daniella. They have temporarily moved back to their hometown of Cedar Grove while their home is being renovated. The story of course includes a new investigation that Tracy becomes involved with, but this time Dan plays a very important role. As with all the books in this series, I tried to figure out who committed the crime, and fell short. Robert Dugoni does a great job with weaving a story that you think you have all figured out, but leaves you pleasantly surprised by the ending. I could not stop reading this book once I started and now I am ready for more from this series! A Cold Trail is a 4.5/5 star read and I can’t wait for others to experience it once it is released.

I enjoyed digging into this most recent installment of the series--I enjoyed getting to know the new family unit with little Daniella, and Tracy's struggle to figure out what role her career is going to play in her future. The dual tug of family and career is a very relatable one, as is Dan's difficulty seeing that his passion for his work is no different from hers for her work. The mysteries themselves fit together well and kept me guessing until the end. I'm looking forward to the next one!
