Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

Great read, a very of the moment book as the plot is around cyber security. Sam the main lead in this book has a team of covert people working with her. They investigate the crime., keeping one guessing and intrigued as to who is behind this plot. Took this book on holiday with me and could not put it down. I throughly recommend this.

ARC from NETGALLEY

The lead character turned me off. This book read more like a comic than a thriller but perhaps it was more style than substance. Not for me, enjoy

Viper Nine is a fascinating and entertaining story. The book is well written and the characters are well developed. I would read more by this author.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Canelo, for the ARC.
My first description of this story just must be "Mission Impossible in book form". It's very fast-paced, exciting, has the most incredible stunts and of course the suspense of having to save the world - obviously in the most timely manner.

Sam Driver and her covert team "Wildcard" want to make the world a better place. The team is made up of experts brought together to work in Black Ops, at the disposal of certain UN Council members, to counter world threats. They are entirely invisible - indeed they don't exist - unless they are needed. (They all appear to have extremely questionable backgrounds.)

When major cities are blacked-out, transport comes to a standstill, corporate systems are hacked and infected with viruses, Government databases including intelligence and military are externally controlled and data files stolen - Wildcard has to be activated. The world is subjected to a cyber-terrorist attack by Viper Nine, who is blackmailing the super-powers for trillions of dollars in return for the attacks to stop.

Anna and Mo - part of the Wildcard team - computer experts, provide a way-in to a base of operations for the terrorists in Berlin. Sam is chosen for the infiltration, except data recovered from that operation details there are more bases around the world each of which control specific parts of the cyber-attack.

We then progress through the seeking-out and infiltration of various bases, with various members of Wildcard demonstrating their skills and courage to destroy Viper Nine. Except - it's not as simple as that - Viper Nine has an even greater part of his plan yet to be revealed - one which definitely needs Sam and her team to thwart in order to make the world safer.

My heart was in my throat - will they all make it?
Along the way there are moments of humour and soul-searching, amidst a compelling and thrilling ride of a read.
Brilliant! - want to see it on film!
