Right of the bat this sounds very interesting and promising. But I was finding out rather quickly that I did not like this, I wanted to try to see it through but I could not. Interacial romance was a plus in my book and the writing was okay. But the chemistry for the hero and heroine was not there, and bam! Hookup it is. We don`t get anything, before they go into bed, no conversation no meet cute. Nothing.
The heroine being so hung up on the hero a few years later, why? What is so great about him? I am confused, because I did not find anything. He must be an amazing god in bed…but really that`s it?

Adrian was weird, stalkerish , possessive & hunter-prey ish – and not in a good way, sometimes possessiveness can be good, depends how it is written, ofcourse. Sensing her in a busy club, from across the room – what is he a vampire? Werewolf? He must be something supernatural?? No? ugh. No the characters had so little chemistry I wanted to watch paint dry.

I couldn't get into this one at all. I felt like the book was put together quickly, as there was no development of the characters. That made it hard to get invested in the story.

Please note: I received an advance digital copy of this book through NetGalley from Laurie White in exchange for a honest review. This does not influence my opinions in any way.

I knew I didn’t like it 6% into the novel. I kept going, wanting to give it a fair chance, but I just can’t do it anymore.
Let me start off with some positives. I like how this book dealt with a interracial romance. Now I didn’t read far into the story, but I hope it expanded on that more instead of keeping it surface level. Like skin deep, you know, because other than that we got no other defining character features. Oh god, I’m getting distracted. Positives, think positives. I thought the writing was okay, not difficult to understand.
Yeah, that’s all I got. That’s where the positives end. Which sucks because I had such high hopes going into this book. Not only did it have a interracial romance, it had a marriage of convenience trope and the synopsis promised a splash of history alongside the romance, all things I love!
So imagine my surprise when the hero and heroine see each other, I’m not reading a meet-cute scene where they interact for the first time. No, all of that is skimmed over in a few sentences to get them naked in bed together. For a hookup that last longer than a day, which is described in complete detail. With no conversation between them at all!
Now, I’m not a prude, I’ve read sex scenes early on in the story and loved them, because there was always a connection, a spark bringing the hero and heroine together (Nobody’s Baby But Mine, The Kiss Quotient), or establishing their current dynamic (The Unwanted Wife). Those had left me craving to learn more about the couple.
I didn’t feel that here.
I didn’t even get a chance because it was so rushed. Then the plot fast forwards four years, and I learn how the heroine is so hung up on the hero, on that night, she’s cannot stop thinking about him and is constantly stalking him online. No. Just no. And why? What the hell did I miss? Aside from him being a great one-night-stand?
Also, I forgot to mention, the hero showed a weird possessive side as soon as he saw the heroine, and he didn’t even know her! On top of that, he somehow sensed her—a stranger—in a busy club from across the room. I find that a tad unbelievable and with the way it’s written, a little supernatural. I don’t even want to get into the weird hunter-prey mentality he had.
I’m so sorry this review is all over the place. But I needed to get my thoughts off my chest. In short, I felt the story did not flow properly. It was rushed, not allowing the readers to connect with the characters or their relationship. Despite what the narrative insisted, I felt what the hero and heroine shared was lust, not love.
Thank you again to the author, publisher and NetGalley. But I don’t think this book is for me.

Unfortunately I just couldn’t finish this one. The premise was interesting and I’m a big fan of interracial love stories but this did not flow right at all.

We get introduced to Aidan in the prologue then it jumps right to him sleeping with Marisa, no meeting or conversation in between at all or introduction to Marisa which made the whole thing feel lacking in any kind of romance. Then we jump to 4 years later she has a daughter she never told him about. He somehow finds out about it they reconnect and are making out a few pages later despite the custody issues\ his very justifiable anger at being kept in the dark?? There were no moments to breath or really get a feel for the characters and it felt like the author was rushing from plot point to plot point.

Firstly I have to thank netgally and the publishers for giving me a chance to read the arc and also the author elysabeth grace for writing this wonderful book! Its book about Aidan and marisa who had a one night stand which resulted in a baby. When marisa proposed an marriage of convinience to Aiden, low and behold,he agreed on one condition that they share the same bed. It was a lovely book and my first interracial romance and I loved it. The story line was addictive, well written and very engaaging. Loved Aidan's mother Alice and since I love marriage of inconvinience books , it was right up my alley! Hope you all like it too. Happy reading.
