I’m totally loving this series about sisters who run a bounty hunting agency! After having a love affair with bounty hunting from all the Stephanie Plum adventures I would read I’m totally primed for more. There was action, adventure, running from bad guys, trying to catch a skip that turned out terribly and romance to top it off.

Our heroine has dreams of becoming a kindergarten teacher, however, to save her family she helps out with her sister’s bounty hunting agency. She decides to take down a skip on her own.... and not just any skip but one wanted for murder. The only problem? He’s totally hot and she has more than a little crush on him. Next minute she is embroiled in more than just chasing a skip and all with hottie murderer in tow.

This book was told solely through the heroine’s POV (which I’m normally not a fan of) but in this book it flowed perfectly and I didn’t feel like I was missing out (even though the hero didn’t do a whole lot of talking). Their connection was fantastic and there was a great balance between action and romance! Looking forward to the next sister’s book!

What a fun read. I really enjoyed reading about Cara Lax and her Bounty Hunter sisters.
Cara isn't someone you'd expect to be out running down skips. She wants to be a kindergarten teacher! She's sweet and more of a researcher then being out there physically chasing and fighting but that's what she ends up doing trying to help her family.
Henry is mysterious and hiding something. You just want to keep reading to find out what he's all about. Loved all the times they met in the beginning and then working together to get to the bottom of who was out to get Cara.
This was action packed and a great read. I'll be reading book #1 and am looking forward to more in this series.

For me the jury is still out on this series. I enjoyed the first book in the series and couldn't wait to see where the author would take the series next. She goes for Cara the sister who's more of a researcher than a doer. Determined to help her sisters she decides to go out and bring in a bounty.
Her first attempt leaves her tied up in a abandoned cabin but she's determined not to be deterred and goes after a skip called Henry. Even though Henry has a nasty rap sheet he doesn't seem to be as bad as his specs indicate especially when he seems very non threatening the first time she meets him. Then again every time she runs into danger he seems to be near by helping her out.
You'll need to read the book to find out more because there's surprises to come. some you might have figured out by the time you get there and some not. All in all I did have a hard time staying with the story from beginning to end.

Absolutely amazing as usual with this author. Lots of suspense and intrigue. I enjoyed the strong women in this book.

So I've not read the first book in this series and it's the first chance I had to read Katie Ruggle. I definitely enjoyed all the action and the whole bounty hunter thing. No problem reading this as a standalone because you get all the background info. Cara was an interesting mix of logic, bravery and loyalty. She was trying help her sisters with the bounty hunting except the skip she is chasing seems to not be criminal or fit the bill at all.

Turns out she gets embroiled in a whole case of set up. Getting friendly with Henry the original skip. She bit more than she could chew when she tries skip number two. He's got a bad way about him. She gets kidnapped for her efforts but Henry saves the day. I like them together the stoic and chipper. Cara can't deny Henry is a solid good looking guy. As they escape and go on the run they get closer and help each other out.

I was wondering who Henry was and it all clicked into place. Cara has lots of gusto when it counts for all her foolhardy ways at times. I like the Pax siblings they seem fun and all different. I look forward to continuing this series with the others. This was fun and exciting to read not heavy and I didn't know what to expect but I had a good time reading.

My Review: I have been a big fan of Katie Ruggle's since I discovered her a few years ago, in fact she might be my only auto-buy author. Unfortunately, since starting this new Bounty Hunter series I have struggled to get into the stories, and this one was no different. I find that the female leads do a lot more stupid things than would be expected. Cara was particularly naive and it was rather frustrating. I did like Henry but I could see the twist in his part of the story a long way off which I think took some of that tension and mystery away. I did really enjoy the banter between them, it lightened the mood of the story that had a lot of action. It was a bit unbelievable but it was still a really good story once I was able to settle in.

My Rating: Part of my issue with getting into this story is that I haven't been reading a lot of these thriller/suspense romance stories in a while, so I may have just gotten out of the habit of putting aside the issue of believe-ability. I still really enjoy Katie Ruggle's books and will continue auto-buying every one. I give this one a rating of Three Paws.

In Katie Ruggle's Risk It All, the second installment in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters romantic suspense series, this 362-paged novel had action, suspense, and a lot of drama. For Cara Pax, she wants to be a kindergarten teacher. But ever since her mother Jane skipped bail with a priceless necklace, it's up to Cara and her sisters to locate her in their own bounty-hunting firm to make own meets. Cara always wanted to get in the front lines to do fieldwork instead of working research details with her sister Norah. Ever since she wanted to tail Henry Kavenski, an accused murder who skipped bail, she accidentally crossed paths with him when he saved her life from being hit by the car. While he tried to derail her from tailing him or for going after Geoffrey Abbott, a tax-evader, they've been many unfortunate run-ins when someone tried to kill her more than once with Henry saving her lie. While on the run, she sought shelter at a cabin and get to know more about each other in an intimate way and more about the crime he was accused of. Tempted by a dangerous flirtation, sparks fly between them when they was unstoppable chemistry ever since they first kissed. Now they continued to seek shelter, Henry's life was on the line when he almost drowned in the river as Cara had to rescue him in return. Their hearts and feelings on the line when secrets are revealed in a gripping ending that changes everything.

Cara’s book was set at a slightly faster pace than the previous book. It also didn’t have any information dumping when it came to the other sisters, didn't re-hash the whole story regarding the stolen necklace, the missing criminal mom or convoluted family history. I think that helped a whole lot to keep the story on track and focused on the MCs rather than the numerous secondary characters.

I did think it was a bit weird that the story was told in 3rd person but solely from Cara’s POV. I kept waiting for the narrative to switch to Henry. He was my kind of Hero and I was dying of curiosity to get inside his head. Having said that, Cara managed to engage me completely, so in the end, I still ended up really liked the story.

As a researcher in her family's bounty hunting business, Cara stays safe behind her computer screen and is more than happy to let her other sisters take a more hands on role in the family business. When she’s not researching possible skips, Cara trying complete her schooling to become a teacher. But that has to take a back burner when finding their mother proves more elusive then they'd originally though and time is starting to run out. Feeling that it’s time she took some of the pressure off Molly, Cara decides she’s going to bring in a high paying skip. And Henry Kavenski fits the bill. As an alleged murderer. Probably not the best idea for her first assignment ... but Cara is nothing if not determined.

Until she meets Henry and everything she thought she knew about him goes up in smoke. The more she discovers, the more Cara finds herself doubting the facts. Because a guy who risks his life to save a puppy and rescues her without hesitation after barely knowing her, has to be more than meets the eye. Cara loves a good puzzle and Henry Kavenski is too tempting a puzzle to resist.

I would definitely commend reading In Her Sights first to understand the foundation of the story - it is way slow - but looking back, the information there builds with each story. This can definitely be read as a standalone if you don't mind filling in the blanks as you go. The author did a great job giving you the bare necessities without going overboard so you wont get lost along the way. Cara and Henry definitely had that slow simmer attraction, the push and pull tension, easy lighthearted humor and warm romance that I love KR for.

This is book two in the mountain Bounty Hunter series. Cara is trying to help her sisters with the bounty hunting business. She gets in over her head when she sets her sights on Henry Kavenski,, a criminal who has skipped bail for murdering two people. When Cara gets to close to Henry she start to doubt weather or not he is guilty. Cara gets kidnapped and Kavenski comes to her rescue. They have to trek through the woods while people are hunting them. I really enjoyed reading about the Pax sisters and was surprised at the twist at the end. I can't wait to read about the rest of the Pax sisters.

Second in the series about the five Pax sisters and their bounty hunting business, you shouldn't have too much trouble picking up the plot if you missed out on reading the first one… but if you did read In Her Sights, don't expect much plot progression on the main drama introduced there, because this one really just takes a diversion and doesn't introduce any new information on that original plot.

Said diversion being the introduction of Henry, a bail skip with a big bounty the sisters could really use. Cara normally just handles research, but with all hands on deck, she plans on bringing Henry in. An attraction isn't just inconvenient, but turns potentially lethal when she's kidnapped by one of Henry's enemies. Henry unexpectedly rescues her and they end up on the run together… cue some trope-tastic scenes of Lost In The Wilderness, Snowed In Together and the evergreen There's Only One Bed.

It's all very predictable - I saw Henry's big reveal coming about 20 miles off - but it's also really well written. A quick read, it's about as unchallenging as a romantic suspense can get. There's plenty of action but I did find it a little too predictable. Four stars.

I volunteered to read and review a readers copy through Netgalley of Risk it All .
I absolutely enjoyed reading this story . This is book two in The Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series . This story is so intertaining and quit action packed . Cara Pax wants to be a kindergarten teacher not a Bounty Hunter . Feeling like she needs to help the family business more she decides to apprehend a bail skip .
Enters Henry Kavenski . He skipped out on bail bond wanted for murder . Cara isn't very good at Bounty hunting at least she should stick to the research part . Henry catches her several times and sends her home with a warning . She finds herself attracted to him, so she decides to set her sights on a less dangerous skip but soon finds herself really in danger along with Henry . Cara and Henry have quite an adventure running for their lives from the bad guys and falling for each other .
This is a fabulous and humorous definitely excellent story . fantastic and lively characters. I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy this story .

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Cara does not want to follow in the family business, which is bounty hunters.
She is better at the back end part of business.
(Background checks, etc ...)
However, to help her sisters, she decided to apprehend one criminal that did not show up for his bail hearing.
That is the start of all of her problems.
Instead of catching the bounty, the bounty catches Cara.
Henry is innocent, and he is is trying to prove is innocence.
He should be trying to dodge Cara, instead of protecting her.
What is Henry to do ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

"Vivid and charming.”—CHARLAINE HARRIS, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series for the Search and Rescue series

Five bounty-hunting sisters
Deep in the heart of the Rockies
Fighting to save each other
...and the men who steal their hearts

Cara Pax never wanted to be a bounty hunter. She's happy to leave chasing criminals and tackling skips to her sisters. But if she wants her dreams of escaping the family business to come true, she's got one last job to finish... Only problem is, she doesn't think her bounty is guilty.

Henry Kavenski is a man with innocence to prove. When he realizes that Cara believes him, he'll do anything to keep her out of harm's way. Escaping criminals and dodging cops might not be the best time to fall in love, but Henry and Cara won't give up, not when there's a chance at a new life ahead--if they can survive the fall.

Risk It All (Book 2)

What People Are Saying:
"I love Ruggle's characters. They're sharply drawn, and vividly alive. I'm happy when they find each other. These are wonderful escapist books.”—CHARLAINE HARRIS, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series
"Sexy and suspenseful, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.”—JULIE ANN WALKER, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author for Hold Your Breath
"Chills and thrills and a sexy slow-burning romance from a terrific new voice.”—D.D. AYRES, author of the K-9 Rescue series for Hold Your Breath

My Thoughts

Cara Ellen Pax, or just Cara as is her preference, is more at ease doing research than fieldwork.

Finding out just how much her sisters need her to pitch in outside that comfort zone results in Cara biting off more than she was prepared to handle.

The chain of events that followed make up an action packed story that is a great follow-up to the first book.

From the first book these 5 sisters personalities have been strongly defined, however as is necessary each one is only given enough space in each book to further their involvement with each other and the families bounty hunting business.

The exception of course being the main character, which is the sister at the center of the story that is told throughout each book.

In Cara’s case she has almost non-stop page time, from her initial faux pas with skip Henry Kavenski to the not quite hilarious output that continually manages to pass her lips in his presence this second book is so easy to get into it is almost criminal when the story is over.

I loved the interaction between Cara and the rest, loved the setup for she and Henry’s oh-so-slow romance to come to fruition, loved the fact that the two had to face hardships in a realistic manner during the authors scenes, loved how Cara grew into her role and truly love the fact that there is more to look forward to from these women and their men in future!

Risk It All is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters by Katie Ruggle. The story is not completely stand-alone and while it can be read as such, I would recommend reading book 1 (In her sights) or at least reading some reviews of it. While we still have the plot about the Pax mama going on, the main focus is on Henry and what is going on about him, so I don't believe that readers will have a huge problem jumping into this book without having read the previous one. Like the first book, the story is told entirely-ish from the heroine's point of view and yes, sometimes I was left wondering what Henry was thinking.

Having read the first two books in the series back to back, I gotta say that this one is improved compared to the first one. The characters are more developed and so is the romance. Cara and Henry's relationship was more believable than Molly and John's and I liked that because I was left wanting when I finished In her sights, while this one gave me some sense of satisfaction. The romance was good for a novel that is more focused on the suspense aspect of the story.

Both characters were likable which was a good thing about the story. I felt like I knew Henry better than I knew John and that's also an improvement. I got used to the writing style and I simply felt like the story flew better in this book. I am sorry, but I can't help but compare the two books in the series. Even if you didn't like the first book, I would recommend giving this one a chance because I believe that it will surprise you.

I had a good time with the first book introducing five bounty hunter sisters trying to make a living and deal with their low life mom’s antics. Cara the college student with plans to be a kindergarten teacher and does the firm’s research decides she needs to get into the active end of bringing down some big money bounties to help out her sisters pull the heavier load when mayhem ensues.
Review

Risk It All is book two in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series. The first book set the premise for the series and this carries over so that this is best read in order. Though, it does start a new case so in a pinch could be read out of order.

Cara sees the tiredness and stress in Molly as she handles all the load of bringing in bounties to keep the family heads above water while two of their sisters are out hunting down their conniving mom who skipped town and left them with so much trouble. The stolen necklace their mom hid has brought every low life to their home attempting break ins to find it even while another sort of low life now holds the deed on their home and insists they take the really nasty bounties or he’ll foreclose.

This leads Cara to leave behind her academics and research to hit the street tailing a murderer. She’s so bad at it that he’s onto her and does the craziest thing in letting her go. She suspects Henry isn’t guilty though she has no proof and only has an inconvenient attraction for him. The spark for Henry is the least of her troubles when her next assignment gets her into worse danger and her life is on the line. Good thing Henry knows a thing or two about keeping them alive.

I enjoyed getting to know all the sisters and their situation in book one, but moving forward into Risk It All was even better. Cara is fumbling and bumbling her way along, but I had a good time as she wasn’t stupid just in experienced. She wants to be an early childhood teacher and she knows she’s not cut out to be an action heroine like three of her sisters, but she has a strong sense of loyalty and love that won’t allow her to stay safely behind her lap top screen, either. She’s not utterly helpless and absorbed more of Felicity’s self-defense and endurance training than she realized. I thought it was great when she started crushing on Henry her first attempt at active bounty-hunting and he ends up being there for her through some harrowing scenes. Where she was hopelessly out of her depths, he was grimly capable.

Oh yes, this one was exciting and had a fab chase scene and then survival situation. Cara and Henry were busy trying to stay alive through it all and the attraction buzzed, but so did something more as their time together taught them more about each other than a string of dates might have. The twists at the end didn’t surprise me though I have to admit that I didn’t anticipate them, either. Can’t say there was much movement toward solving the situation with their mom, but I didn’t even care because this book was so intense and engaging.

I’m going to keep it vague because I don’t want to give away the good stuff. If I had a niggle, it’s related to some of the things I must be vague about like Henry. I do wish that there had been more at the end that got into his background, but there was enough so he wasn’t an entire blank slate and I do get why all that couldn’t have come out earlier.

All in all, I loved this one better than book one and am now jazzed for Norah’s story in book three. Those who enjoy caper and humor, action and slightly spicy romance for a lady bounty hunter crew should give this book/series a go.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

You might think this series is about male bounty hunters, but the Pax sisters are the ones doing the hunting and I love that! Cara has been more on the research side, looking into “skips” as they call them, and digging up as much info to aid in their capture. But since their flaky, self-centered mother put them in a bind financially by putting the family home (which the sisters paid for!) up as collateral for bail and then skipped, Cara wants to help as much as she can with the business.

Cara decides to bring in a few high dollar skips and this is where she crosses paths with Henry Kavenski. He’s wanted for murder, but his actions are more that of a protector than “murderer”, so Cara knows there’s more to the story. Add her ever growing crush on the handsome, broody big man, and her efforts to bring in a skip aren’t going too well.

Henry’s role as protector really come into play when Cara shifts her focus onto another skip, who on paper seems like a pretty harmless catch, but turn into a nightmare of danger for Cara. The story really takes off and becomes an action-packed ride with Cara and Henry fighting for survival at every turn.

I love Katie Ruggle’s brand of romantic suspense/action thrillers, because while there’s lots of danger and thrills the romances are charming and, in this case, delightfully awkward at times. Cara is sweet and a little shy, and Henry isn’t really talkative, but his actions speak volumes. I breezed right through Risk It All in one day, and I can’t wait for the next installment!

As a side note, Risk It All can be read as a standalone, but Molly and John’s story (In Her Sights) was a lot of fun too, so why would you want to?

This is the second book in this suspense romance series based in the Rocky mountains. The book is not a cliff hanger and can stand on it's own, but you will enjoy it more if you read them in order. Our h - Cara Pax is one of five sisters with a bounty hunter business. She is studying to be a kindergarten teacher and normally just does research for their bounties, not field work. Unfortunately their low life mom has put them in dire straits and they need lots of money in a hurry. Cara decides to go after a high value bounty on our H - Henry Kavenski, wanted for murder. Problem is after he saves her, she doesn't think he is guilty!
I have read many books by this author and I love several aspects of her stories; the characters are so alive you want to meet them; the females are always strong and resourceful; there is a lot of action and drama; and the plots are excellent. The book starts fast, pulls you in, and you can't stop reading!
I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book to others.

I really liked Cara in book 1 and couldn't wait to read her story, but I had a really hard time getting into this story. Cara seems to be the sweet sister. She doesn't get involved in the more risky parts of the business and she is school to become a teacher. Henry is trying to prove his innocence and they kinda just get thrown together. I just had a really hard time picturing them together. Cara seemed to be very childish and immature in this book and that definitely made it harder for me. I like Henry, he seemed like the typical alpha male type that I like in books. And the action was pretty good. I just couldn't get my heard around Cara and not being able to connect with her. Hopefully the next one will be better for me!

An exciting tale, that will have you holding your breath. I couldn't put my Kindle down with this one, thanks to there being one twist after another. Although Henry is the bail jumper, he spends most of his time saving Cara's life, multiple times. The perfect blend of suspense, romance and a bit of laughter, this is my favorite book by Katie Ruggle so far!

Risk It All by Katie Ruggle is the second full length novel in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters. The Pax sisters run their own bail recovery business. Not an easy business, but one they know well, after all they have had to stand together especially with a mother like theirs. This second novel features Cara Pax as she tries to help her family, by trying to get a skip by herself. The only problem is she really is not a bounty hunter, luckily she really wants to be a kindergarten teacher.

Cara wanting to help her family has decided that she can do her own investigation and track down a skip by herself. The only problem is she is going after Henry Kavenski, supposedly a vicious killer. Somehow Cara knows this is wrong, perhaps because he has helped and saved her a couple of times. She is determined to help her sisters and to not get too caught up with Henry.

I found I liked this second novel more than the first novel. I think Cara’s quirky personality made her a fun main character. I liked the action in this novel and found Cara and Henry a formidable team. Risk It All by Katie Ruggle was a fun read.
