Oh Caillou 😅 as long as I don’t have to hear his voice on the TV, I was glad to share in the reading of this book! The story was simple enough to keep the attention of the little one, the pictures kept him captivated, and I liked how good the overall message was! ^_^

Caillou is a sweet and very independent little boy, who wants to do everything for himself, his dad supports him in all of his efforts.
As a mother of 3 very independent girls, I can certainly identify with this book, and my kids are sure to enjoy it

Caillou, in written or tv form is an excellent learning tool for advancement skills in preschool children. As a retired preschool teacher we used Caillou for not only learning but the positive attitude Caillou has. I now share Caillou with my 2 year old granddaughter and she adores him. (asks for him solely by singing his name)

Caillou books are well known for the fabulous lessons they teach kids in a fun loving way! This book is wonderful! The colorful pictures will attract children’s attention and the idea of being independent is illustrated and spoken about throughout the book. This is sure to be another favorite Caillou book with young children and their parents!-Green Gables Book Reviews

Caillou is excited to show his Daddy new things he can do! His Daddy is patient and lets Caillou show off his new skills and gives him chances to learn new things. Both of Caillou’s parents are so proud of him and Caillou feels happy and proud of himself! A great book about teaching kids independence!

I used to watch this show when my brother was little, so it was fun to read this. An encouraging tale of of a child learning how to do things himself. For any child to gain some encouragement and know that their parents love them no matter if they can do things themselves or not.

This is my first Caillou book and to be honest, my daughter picked it out. I have been turned off of Caillou from the tv show. HOWEVER this book was so much better than the show! Caillou behaves better and the parenting is so nice.

Caillou wants to do things for himself and his daddy is right there supporting him every step of the way. It was a sweet book that I will absolutely read to my daughter again and again.

This book is very sweet. It is extremely age appropriate and easy to understand for the really little ones. Not only is this book educational for children about trying to do things themselves since eventually they will be on their own, but it also educates parents on the importance of giving your children independence and freedom to make their own choices and do tasks themselves. I loved this book and so did my daughter!

I used to watch the Caillou TV show with my niece, and I'm glad to see the book version is as entertaining and relatable. This book is easy (and short) enough for a child to follow along, and at the same time interesting for the parent/adult reading with the child. The brightly colored and detailed illustrations especially make it enjoyable to follow Caillou along on his adventure/situation.

Thank you for the ARC.

I Can Do It Myself is a lovely book about Caillou who is growing up and wants to try to do more himself. I think the character of Caillou is great and it's nice to see a character of a child who calmly attempts to do things by himself and for the adult to be so reassuring and understandable of the child's needs, I think it is a great reminder to children that you don't have to get everything right on the first time and for adults that children need some time to practice and encouragement to do so without everything being in such a hurry. The illustrations in the book are colourful and fun for the children to look at and demonstrate what Caillou is attempting to do very well. A fantastic and reassuring story for young children.

The first thing I liked bout this book is that the main caregiver is Dad. Not only are their more single Dads these days, but even married Dads need to star occasionally. I know my husband would love to be able to read a story to our girls where the dad is the hero. I also really liked how this is a subtle parenting training tool. Not only does it show how patient and supportive Dad is, but it slyly shows how a rushed parent can hurt a child’s confidence (from the little girl with the coat.)

a lovely little book about Caillou learning to do things for himself. Its nice to see that there is a male role model in the book as dads are also involved in bringing up children. The book reinforces trying your best and getting praise. Lovely colourful pictures. a likeable main character.

Caillou is growing up and like all children he wants to do it himself. Often parents, older siblings, teachers and yes, even grandparents get impatient and want to help or do things for them, but Caillou and my grandchildren want to do it without help. I hear my granddaughter saying, "grandma, I do it" quite often. In this story, Caillou's dad lets him try doing things himself and using praise, prompts and some simple assists Caillou is successful. I know this book is meant to show kids that they can do these things by themselves with practice and that it will make them feel good and build their confidence when achieving these goals but I think it was also a good reminder for me as I read it and realized that I need to back off a bit and let my grandchildren do more for themselves. I like that Caillou is a good role model in this story and my grandson informed me that he didn't get in trouble in this story. As always the illustrations are bright, colourful and eye-catching. A good book for families and preschool classrooms. Both of my grandchildren (ages 3 and almost 6) enjoyed this story. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

My daughter loves Caillou and was so excited to read this book. The story itself is cute and we both enjoyed it, especially since my daughter is at the age where she wants to be more independent.

This is another lovely Caillou Book (I requested two recently)

I asked for this as my 3 year old granddaughter is a fan of the Caillou videos. She has gone through most of the 'I Can Do it Myself' stages in the book and can now do most of them independently but the story is very familiar. I like that the story lets children know that if they can't do something, they can always try again and they will get it right eventually.

I would guess the book is aimed at slightly younger children – say 2 to 3 year olds - and their parents, encouraging parents to be patient when their children take these first steps towards independence.

The illustrations are bright and clear and although quite simple looking, have plenty of detail to talk about.

A charming, encouraging book.

I really loved that this book taught kids that with patience and practice, kids can do whatever they set their mind to. I also like that the story involves a popular character Caillou to help draw in the younger readers.

My Granddaughter loved Caillou when she was younger. In this book Caillou is going through the independent stage where he wants to do things himself. Tying shoes, setting table, helping where he can. With the cheering on of his Dad he tries and tries and feels a great accomplishment when he succeeds. Even when he does not his Dad is supportive. This is a great book to give children the courage to do things on their own and gain their own independence. I recommend this book for beginning readers and 3+.

Caillou is learning to do things all by himself. Sometimes he succeeds and sometimes he doesn’t. Daddy is always by his side, encouraging him to try it again.

Toddlers will like the simple text and bright colors and will relate to Caillou’s victories and disappointments. A hug from Daddy is the perfect ending to any day.

A digital copy was provided by net galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
