Love the layout, flow, images and recipes in this book! I am not a HUGE cocktail person, but this would be a great go-to gift for any host, friend, etc. I found the flavors extremely unique - pecan cookies with bacon? Yes please. I appreciated the intro and explanation behind combos in cocktails too.

This book had fun recipes for cocktails and cookie pairings that sound delicious. Some are somewhat simple, others are a little more involved. As a fan of cookies and cocktails, I can't wait to try some of these recipes. I also enjoyed the origin stories. My one complaint is that a couple of the cookie recipes seemed to be missing important sections of text.

Quirky Cocktails and Sweet and Savory Nibbles

Most cocktails in this book are dairy-based or clarified with eggs, making them a bit different from your standard alcoholic beverages. Except for a section on the classics, the cocktails are all from trendy or forward-thinking restaurants. For each cookie-cocktail pair, the author tells us a little about the restaurant and provides the restaurant's cocktail (sometimes requiring component recipes like types of syrups or even a soup!) as well as one or two cookie recipes from the author to go along with the cocktail. Each pairing is photographed together, so you know exactly how the cocktail and cookies should look. Most cocktails are cutting edge, with unique flavor combinations and ingredients, but they sometimes harken back to old-school cocktails, like milk punch. There is a brief introductory section, some of which goes over incorporating dairy into cocktails as well as the type of glasses and tumblers to use. Some cocktails are very simple while others require a multi-step process. Some cookies are savory, like one made with pimento cheese, pecans, and pepper jelly. The cocktail and cookie recipes in this book are fun and promise to be a flavor adventure. If you enjoy cookies and cocktails, you will probably find this a very enjoyable book.

Thank you Netgalley for an early copy of Cookies and Cocktails in exchange for an honest review.

I was very excited by the concept cookbook cookies and cocktails...they pair so well together! Katherine Cobbs has collected some intriguing cocktail recipes from bars and lounges around the county. Each entry has a detailed description of the cocktail or its contributing establishment and then she pairs it with a complementary cookie. The photos and recipes all look wonderful and while I would love to eat and drink them, actually making them is a bit outside my scope. The ingredients lean toward more exotic or complicated to make. Pretty to look at but I probably wont make many of the selections.

I tried several of these recipes and cocktails they were awesome. I would suggest this book for its unusual take on cookies and cocktails. The instructions are very easy to follow. Every hostess needs this book.

This was somewhat difficult to rate, because while the recipes sound delicious and I would eat and drink any of them, I also don't want to MAKE any of them. The great majority of these recipes are very complicated or use a lot of ingredients or at least a few hard to find liqueurs. I'm a dedicated cook (and cocktail drinker) but even I was a bit overwhelmed by the book as a whole.

But aside from that, 5 stars for really original and delicious sounding recipes for both the cocktails and the cookies. All the cocktails I went over had some sort of "milk" base, such as coconut milk, pistachio milk, yogurt, cream, ice cream, or creme de ____. And the recipes are paired together, one delicious cocktail for each yummy cookie. Part of me really wants to buy this book, but most of me knows I just won't use it enough.

There's a Pepita Wedding Cookie that I might try this weekend, and a mouth watering Grasshopper I will *definitely* be drinking when the weather warms back up. But I stopped short when I saw a photo of Fruity Pebbles cereal spilled over a table. I had to scroll back to see what I thought I saw. And sure enough, a cocktail called "Midnight Breakfast" made with Tito's vodka, vanilla syrup, and... and... FRUITY PEBBLES CEREAL MILK. I can't with this, People. I just can't.

This is a great book for legally aged lovers of cookies & milk, or just of cookies or just of cocktails. There are a great many recipes of each, so it would be worth it as a cookie book alone.

The only downside really is the intricacy of some of the recipes, and the many recipes requiring not so common ingredients.

I was provided a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I'll honestly be sad when it expires in a couple days. On the other hand, I don't want to ever hear about a cocktail made with Fruity Pebbles cereal milk ever again.

Author Katherine Cobbs concept of pairing cookies with cocktails is a creative and unique. While I loved her concept, and the beautiful color photos found within her cookbook, her book is not something I am totally in love with either. I guess I am a milk (or coffee) kind of reviewer as I love having either when I am enjoying a cookie. The reason why I downloaded Cookies & Cocktails is the concept appealed to me but upon further reading the idea did not appeal. For those who wouldn't mind giving her recipes a try you will find the following chapters in her cookbook:

Another drawback to her book is some of the ingredients could be difficult to find.

Light & Bright
Rich & Creamy
The Classics
Milk It! (Alternative Milk Basics)
Resources

Some of the recipes you'll find include:

Beet Happening (drink)
Bacon-Chive Madeleines
Guilty Pleasure (drink)
Sugarplums
Pink Squirrel (drink)
Chocolate-Almond Cookies
Ramos Gin Fizz (drink)
Lemon-Lavender Cookies

You will also read about how to select glassware and cookie baking tips within her book.

Recommend.

Thank you Tiller Press for a copy of Cookies and Cocktails for review. Available October 23, 2019.

I liked the concept of this book. Grown up versions of milk and cookies. The pairings were well thought out and the cookie recipes were delicious. I found the cocktail recipes to be a little complicated for me with specialty ingredients that I would have to source. Milk based cocktails are not high on my wishlist though so I’m not sure I need that many different types to try. Fun for special occasions or even a Christmas date night before Santa comes. I bet he would like a little special cocktail waiting for him this year!

I was initially so excited at the prospect of this book. Unfortunately, the recipes were not for me and I’m likely to only make one or two of them. I was hoping for more common ingredients and overall, the recipes just didn’t sound appealing to me. However, this book is very well put together and the photos are beautiful. Thank you to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

It might be wrong to wish for a cocktail at 8:30am, but no one's here to judge me (or read my mind), so I think I'm in the clear :). This was my first wish after opening Cookies & Cocktails -- and once wished, I can't take it back. Just the first cocktail recipe 'Pistachio Fizz' melted my heart - love pistachios! However, the next 'Three Ps Sandwich Cookies' may be more of an acquired taste for me, since it's pimento cheese, pepper jelly, and jalapeno slices; while I'm sure it'll pair well with a cocktail, to me, cookies are more of a sweet item. With descriptions of 'speakeasies', easy-to-follow recipes (when you settle on the right ones for you), this is a great book to have on hand as a reference and something that I look forward to surprising friends with.
