I was curious about this book but if I can work with paranormal, I struggle at time with fantasy.
Yet in all this was a pleasant read with an interesting twist.

This is a new concept to me. Fae in the Regency era. Sophia is new to the London society scene and has a hard time with rules. So many rules.
He's part of this very society, but just so happens to love flaunting the rules.
Fun book with a good love story.

How interesting it is to read a historical romance with a bit of magical twist between! This author accomplished that well in the book making it a good and enjoyable read.

This book was not like anything that I have read before. I mean the fae mixing with humans in the regency area was an intriguing idea and I could not be happier that I jumped on the chance to read this book The interactions between Sophia and Ashley warmed my heart. Her innocence but outspokenness had me smiling and hesitant to put the book down. The tragic backstory aspects and forbidden love angle only made me more eager to finish the book. My only wish for the book is that there would have been more steamy bits, but that is just what I personally like in books of this sort.

I would recommend that anyone who loves historical romances with some magic thrown in read this book.

Sophia Thorne is new to the Regency's glittering high society, which resembles her magical homeland only insofar as both places are filled with ridiculous rules. Ashley Trimble, The Duke of Robinsworth has flouted and shocked society for years. In a moment of fateful mischief, Ashley encounters the enchanting and distinctly scandalous Sophia. Between her streak of magical mischief and his penchant for scandal, they're about to take rule-breaking to a whole new level.
I was drawn into the book from the first sentence, which had me totally intrigued however the rest of the book left me slightly disappointed. Misinformation & withheld information could have made for a great read but for me it fell flat. It was in fact a fun read with no great depth, the characters were well portrayed but lacking depth. The pace flowed well but it just left me wanting more
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This was a sweet, if slightly silly, Regency romance with a fantasy twist. I found Sophia and Ashley to both be very likeable, and I liked how well they played off each other and came to support one another. A nice lighthearted read!

I have never read a book by this author, but I will read more! Her characters are magical. Ashley, our Duke, is such a sad man. Sophie, our face is so warm...it is inevitable that they should love each other. The story reads well, and my only complaint is that the real murderer appears to have gotten away withh it. Enjoy!

** I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.”
It’s been quite some time since I’ve read an England times with magic book.
This book was adorable. A Duke, who is believed to have killed his wife, is attempting to raise his rambunctious daughter. The Fae send Sophia to help them as her mission.
The book flowed smoothly and was a quick read. There were a few things that seemed out of place but verbal it was a good story.

A little magic never hurts if it helps someone. Sophia's mission is to help a little girl and her father overcome the sadness of the death of her mother/his wife. Sophia didn't count on falling in love with the Duke and his daughter. She has to go back to the fae world when her mission is over, but not if the Duke has any say about it! A charming romance filled with humor, magic and all the info on the tooth fairy. Nice read!

Loved this book! Full of fantasy and was perfect to just get away from reality! Will definitely read more from this author!

This the first book in the series. She is fae. She wants to help the Duke’s daughter. They fall in love. Can there be a happily ever after between a human and a fae. I loved the book.

Ashley, the Duke of Robinsworth, is widely feared for a death connected to him. He is distant, cold, and has forgotten almost entirely what it means to be carefree. He’s a single father of a difficult child and is, well, a bit lost. Sophia Thorne breezes into life with all the subtlety of a hurricane and is so full of life that she makes Ashley realize he hasn’t been living at all. But she refuses to welcome his affections. She’s “not of his world” and is “on a mission.” What’s more, she’s bound by unbreakable laws, the third of which is “Never share the existence of the fae.” But in a world where magic exists right beneath our noses, can’t true love find a way?

I said it in my stories and I’ll say it again - this book has one of the best first lines I’ve ever read. It GRABS you by the collar and practically jerks you into the story, which is whimsical and fun. I love Falkner’s worldbuilding and how she deftly weaves magic and fairies into Regency England. The effect is lovely and charming.

Ashley is a surprise as a character and I found that I liked him more and more with every page I read. And Sophia? Sophia is earnest and bright and fun. They’re the principal characters but they are by no means the only ones you’ll care about. In fact, I think this is another thing Falkner does exceptionally well. The side and supporting characters in this novel are vibrant and fully realized (some in some very surprising ways) and I really enjoyed watching them flounce about together.

This is a fantastic intro into Paranormal Romance for someone who reads and loves historicals and isn’t into the darker side of PNR. It’s bubbly and fun and, while it has its moments of shadow, I wouldn’t call it dark by any means. If you like reading books about faeries, I think you’ll enjoy this one. Falkner has a fresh take on this mythical creature and how they relate to and interact with mortals and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Kiss and Tell: This book builds slowly and the sexual tension will keep you flipping pages. Featured is some very sexy kissing, hand play, a touch of oral, and p&v sex. The scenes in this book remind me of more contemporary Mary Balogh - they’re just a bit more explicit but filled with just as much tenderness, urgency, and elegance.

This is Sophie Thorne and Ashley, the Duke of Robinsworth’s story, Book 1 of the Regency Fairies series; a standalone, no cheating, happily ever after, historical romances with some sizzle.
This was a cute, magical fairy tale, with a mystery to be uncovered, lovable characters, humor, and a nice build to the romance with plenty of sizzle.
This author’s writing pulls you into the story, so as to feel invested in each of the characters; looking forward to the next in this series.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I loved the different take on the Fae. The characters were amazing. I didn't want to put this book down. It was well written and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you!

Rules are meant to be broken and scandals are always shocking.

Sophia Thorne is new to the Regency's glittering high society, which resembles her magical homeland.
The Duke of Robinsworth has flouted and shocked society for years. In a moment of fateful mischief, Robinsworth encounters the enchanting and distinctly scandalous Sophia.

Rumored to have killed his wife Ashley, Duke of Robinsworth lives a secluded existence with only his small daughter and his staff for company.
Enter Sophia, a faerie who has been sent on a mission to help his daughter.
Ashley is immediately attracted to her and she is attracted to his music, but why?
This pair is a scandal in the making or are they?
This is an equally humorous, sad and romantic tale. I love the blend of the magic and reality. It makes you want to believe that faeries exist in our world.
It was my first time reading anything by this author but I will be on the lookout for more. It is an excellent example of an adult faerie tale.
I had requested an ARC of this book to read but it released and my request had yet to be granted. Then I purchased the book and a couple of days later I found it in my request granted list so I had the book 2 times within a matter of days.
I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization. The fact I was granted a complimentary copy has no bearing on my opinion which I gave voluntarily.

I loved this story so much! It was romantic, steamy, sexy, and adorable. I loved the fae element to the story and how that all was wrapped up nicely in the end. And I absolutely loved Ashley and Sophia together. My only criticism is that I would have liked to see the fae world a little more, or have more backstory to it. That part of the story felt underdeveloped. Overall, a five star read. Loved it!

Book Title: A Lady and Her Magic (Faerie #1)
Author: Tammy Falkner
Pub Date: June 28, 2019

***ARC was provided to me by Net Galley and the Publisher for a fair and honest review***

Overall rating: 2/5 I wish more time was spent on world building with the Fae.

Heroine (Sophia Thorne): 2/5 Naive 26 year old mission fairy who wants to follow the rules.

Hero (Ashley, Duke of Robinsworth): 2/5 The current gossip is that his late wife died by his hand. He is the loving father of a wayward daughter and not exactly looking for anyone to fill the spot his wife left.

Plot: 2/5 Sophia is a mission fairy who helps young humans. She steals her sister’s mission to fix the Dangerous Duke of Robinsworth’s daughter Anne. Sophia spends a lot of time with the duke himself and both catch feelings pretty quickly. Sophia also has an interesting habit of following music back to the source and tells the duke this which makes him play the piano every night so Sophia will show up. But relationships between humans and fairies are forbidden, will they defy the odds?

Personal Review: I accepted this book in preparation for the new show Carnival Row which also features a Fairy/human relationship. This is decidedly not what I was really looking for. Nothing is ever really explained about Sophia’s world so the reader has no idea about the stakes of any of what they’re doing. Even when rules are explained like changing wing colors, they just make up a new rule later. It was poor world building and that saddens me because I love the concept of injecting magic into historical romance.

Sophia’s mission is to basically fix the duke’s daughter Anne, but she only meets the girl a handful of times and it’s mostly an excuse to throw Ashley and Sophia together. I’m rather unsure if her mission was completed by her or plot convenience.
