I wanted that excerpt to keep on going! I am very intrigued to see how this story plays out. Maybe a little love triangle, maybe a little vengeance? I will definitely be reading the book in its entirety in November!

I tend to prefer more fantasy and scifi books but this sampler grabbed my attention and I look forward to its release. The concept of rival gangs sounds like a thrilling read and I enjoy a little romance

Wow! That one chapter has me absolutely, positively hooked and wanting more! A Thousand Fires has great potential and I look forward to reading it in its entirety. I can already tell that it will be full of twists and some unexpected surprises. It had a little West Side Story combined with Divergent vibe going on within that first chapter. That feel may change as the reader gets further into the book, but that was my initial impression. Now...how to wait until the book releases in November...

This excerpt of A Thousand Fires has everything you could ever want in a first chapter. Action, romance, and a good look into the world and main character's life. As an Asian myself, I was elated to discover that Valerie was Asian, specifically Filipina. More Asian representation is ALWAYS welcome, and I'm so excited to see what'll happen to Valerie and the gangs. In only fourteen pages, this book has completely ensnared me with its promises of what's to come next!

This first chapter introduces a lot of concepts and characters and it's thoroughly intriguing and enjoyable, and it left me wanting more. It works really well as a first chapter. I have a lot of questions and I'm definitely interested in reading the full book.
