Another psychological thrill ride from Mary Kubica!
Sadie, Will and their two sons find themselves moving from Chicago to a small island in Maine after inheriting Will's deceased sisters house along with guardianship of their troubled niece, Imogen. Hoping for a new start after marital problems (an affair) and their fourteen year old son getting in trouble at his previous school for bringing a knife in his bag, what they find is anything but. Soon after their arrival a neighbor is found to have been stabbed to death and suspicion falls on the new neighbors.
Told from four POV's with a deft hand, the tension builds as the plot twists and turns into an unputdownable page turner. Even though one of the plot points comes into view early on, the ultimate reveal and conclusion was something I didn't see coming and I loved it! I'm sure both old and new fans of the author will relish this one and I highly recommend you picking this one up!

“The Other Mrs.” by MK is an addicting psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.
Sadie and Will Foust have just moved their family from bustling Chicago to small-town Maine when their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home. As eyes of suspicion turn toward the new family in town, Sadie is drawn deeper into the mystery of what really happened that dark and deadly night. But Sadie must be careful, for the more she discovers about Morgan, the more she begins to realize how much she has to lose if the truth ever comes to light.
OMG - first off I need someone to talk to about when I had the rug pulled from under me with that surprising twist. I had no idea that was coming!! I wish I could talk about it more, but I can’t!! Okay, now I can dive into my thoughts! ha.
This was first the novel by this author! At first I wasn’t sure what was going on - who was the bad guy, etc. The story is told from multiple perspectives - Sadie, Camille (Sadie’s previous roomie), and Mouse (a little girl). We have no idea the reasoning for their POV until of course the end when it connects together. Sadie is the primary POV of the story and she is well-liked character who just wants to be a good Mom, wife, and doctor when all of a sudden she is accused of having something to do with Morgan’s murder.
My only issue I was confused about the relationship between Will and his sister and why they haven’t spoken. You find out that Will’s sister committed suicide and left behind the house and her daughter, Imogen (who is super creepy, btw) to take care of, but that’s about it.
Overall, great thriller. Most seasoned thriller readers I”m sure will guess the massive plot twist, but overall a very satisfying read. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

Ok, but not great - I kind of figured out the main twist pretty early (just by thinking the opposite of what everyone appeared to be) but it was only at the end when it all made sense, but even then I thought there were too many coincidences to be believable.
The plot and character motivations seemed too complicated and farfetched.
I did not feel connected to any of the characters and the child abuse of Mouse kind of put me off for the rest of the book.

The Other Mrs. is a captivating story. Mary Kubica knows how to capture the reader’s attention. She provides a thrilling read that will keep you guessing how this story will end.

Well, I didn't see that coming! That's the best way I can think of to describe The Other Mrs. It's fun, weird, quick and what-the-hell. If you've ever wondered what's happening in your own brain, or someone else's, then watch out, because this book will keep you on your toes. I read it in a weekend, and didn't want to put it down!
The Other Mrs. comes out 2.18.2020.
4.5/5 Stars

This was my first book by Mary Kubica, and now I know who to turn to when I want to read a great psychological thriller. I could not put this book down, due to the fact that for the majority of the book I had no idea what was going on. I had so many theories and ideas of what was going on, and eventually I did figure it out before it was revealed. But the ride to get there, was spectacular! So many different characters who tell their story, I really enjoyed the development of each. Everything was executed so well, you can tell Kubica is a thriller veteran. The story gave me some Turn of the Key type eerie vibes as well. It was a well put together, interesting read that definitely kept my interest!

I had been in a slump on my ARC picks from NetGalley but boy oh boy did I hit a home run with the newest book by Mary Kubica, I thank the author and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this awesome read. I loved it!!!!
This book has it all, that old creepy feeling that makes you smile, even sometimes outright laugh, a mystery that takes so many twists and turns you continue to guess in the wrong direction and the best ending I have read in a long, long time. I can’t really explain how you know you are reading a book written by a professional writer until you start reading, and you just know, this was one of them. Ms. Kubica is at her best…
I highly recommend, I loved all the characters, Sadie, Mouse and Camille. I did not see the ending coming, great book, high five!!!!
I was given an advance copy from Harlequin/Park Row through Net Galley for my honest review, this one gets the highest 5 stars!!!

Sadie and Will Foust are looking for a fresh start when they move from Chicago to a small island in Maine to a home they inherit from Will’s sister. Sadie is eager to put the problems they faced in Chicago behind, but then their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home. This isn’t the only strange thing Sadie is dealing with and now she wonders if the move was the best thing for their family after all. Sadie wants to learn the truth about what happened to Morgan, but finding the answers may cause more problems for her and her family than having unanswered questions.
I enjoy Mary Kubica’s thrillers, but this isn’t my favorite of her books. With the exception of Sadie and Will’s seven-year-old son, Tate, it’s hard to find a consistently likable character in the whole book. Many characters aren’t what they seem, for better or worse, but there was nobody I could relate to. In spite of that, the book starts out strong. I was intrigued by the stories being told from the point of view of three different characters and how they were connected. The clues were there so it wasn’t long before I was able to guess the first big twist in the story. There were still some things that didn’t add up. The second major twist is a shock and explains most of the things that didn’t previously make sense. This plot turn exposes just how despicable one of the characters really is. There are also descriptions of child abuse in parts of the book that are hard to read. The ending is very dramatic and ends on a more hopeful note than I would have thought possible after some of the reveals were made. The book has some surprises, but I expected so much more from this author. I would rate the book 3.5 stars.
I received this book from NetGalley through the courtesy of Park Row. The book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Sadie, a physician, and her husband, Will, have left Chicago with their two sons and moved to a small island town in Maine. They have inherited a house from Will’s sister, after her unexpected death, and they also have the added responsibility of guardianship for Will’s 16 year- old-niece, Imogene. From the beginning, Sadie is uncomfortable on the island, where she works in the town’s only medical office. It feels confining, their new home is dark and ominous, and Imogene is hostile. When a neighbor is found murdered in her home, Sadie’s fears and worries increase as she is drawn into the investigations and she begins to wonder who among them is a murderer.
The Other Mrs. is a suspenseful and tense family drama that begins to cycle out of control as Sadie’s fears increase. The characters are well-drawn and the atmosphere is dark and forbidding. Late in the story there are several twists and revelations that are difficult to anticipate. The author does a good job tying up loose ends and bringing the story to a satisfactory, although somewhat unsettling, conclusion.
For me, this book was 3.5 stars but I’ll round it up to 4.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

I am a fan of Kubica but this book was a bit far fetched for me. Too many sub plots.. too many unexplained details... too many neatly tied knots in the ending. I found myself rushing to the conclusion wishing it over. That’s never a good sign for me. A mystery is one of my favorite genres but this one was a hardly credible premise and resolution. I doubt very much a doctor would not know what medications had been prescribed and would be taking whatever was offered. Sorry I can not recommend this one.

I'll start by saying I'm a huge Mary Kubica fan - love the twists that hit you from someplace unexpected. This is no different. Even when you think you know where the story is going, don't be too confident - she'll surprise you.

Twists. They can be good and they can be bad. Some seem to be naturally evolving parts of the book. Some seem to be forced. Some feel manipulative. And some are obvious. I think it's a fine line. You can't have them come out of nowhere but you also can't give too much away. Here, I was at exactly 12% when I became sure of what was happening with our alternate narrations. So, in this case, the feeling of manipulation started early.
Sadie and Camille are telling us about their relationships with Will. Camille met him first, but Sadie is the one he fell for and married. Camille tells of her inability to accept that. In the meantime, Will and Sadie move to a small Maine island to care for Will's niece after the death of his sister. This tiny island is soon the setting of a murder, something that doesn't happen there. We get the input of a little girl called Mouse and, eventually, from Will. The author doesn't do a bad job of weaving them together. But the way they all go together is obvious from early on.
Without the "twist" that feels forced into the story, the actual story was pretty good. I'd like to try another from this author in the future.

This was a decent thriller. I enjoyed the building of the characters. I will say I felt the majority of the plot line was transparent. I did appreciate the twist of the husband being a bad guy as I did not see that part coming. Overall this one gets 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Not my favorite my Mary Kubica but still a great suspense read. Nothing can top her The Good Girl, IMO

HOLY GOODNESS! Want to go on the ride of your life? Read this! @marykubica has done it again and somehow even better! This book had me reading until all hours of the night! With every twist, I thought I had it figured out just to have the rug ripped out from under me! Easily one of the best suspense novels I’ve read in awhile! It’ll be published on February 18th, so preorder it now! Thank you @netgalley and @harlequinbooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was my first Mary Kubica book and it probably won't be my last. Three different points of view tell this story, the wife and mother, Sadie; her old friend and roommate, Camille; and a little girl named Mouse. Towards the end of the book, Will - Sadie's husband - begins to tell his story. I wasn't sure where some of these stories were going and how they would all tie in together. There were times, this book was slow going, but when the stories all started coming together, the book really started to pick up. Overall, I enjoyed the book. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Books for a digital arc of this title.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. The Other Mrs. is a twisty tale about a family, led by Sadie and Will Foust, who move from Chicago to a small town off the coast of Maine. Soon after they arrive, the town is rocked by a murder and suspicion immediately goes to the Fousts. I enjoyed this book, though I found some parts to be slower. However, it definitely picks up in the last half of the book. I liked that the story was told from multiple perspectives, but I was able to guess some of the twists, which could be because I read a lot of thrillers. If you are a fan of thrillers and the author, I think this is a book you would enjoy.

Mary Kubica is by far my favorite thriller author! She artfully writes characters that are complex, and creates a love/hate relationship for the reader. This book was no exception. This story is from the perspective of four people:
1. Sadie, a doctor who is struggling with a mood and her husband's infidelity.
2. Camille, the other woman, who loves and stalks Sadie's husband, Will.
3. Mouse, a smart, six year old girl who has troubles at home.
4. Will, Sadie's husband, who brings his family to Maine to care for his troubled niece, after his sister's suicide.
A woman is murdered down the street from Sadie and Wills suburban home, the stress of which causes Sadie to behave inappropriately, in search of the truth. The twists in this novel were spectacular and I loved the ending. In a time when I am reading much more slowly than usual, I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. I absolutely loved it!

“𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴.”
The Other Mrs. was a bit slow for me at first. However, it definitely had times where it gave me eerie vibes and I wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen until toward the end. It kept me guessing.
The book really picked up for me half way through and got extremely interesting. This book deals with mental health issues in several aspects. Suicide, trauma, abuse, stalking, grief, domestic violence, and several others.
Some parts of this book were heart breaking, others were very eerie. Sadie has so much anxiety, that it makes you, yourself anxious.
This book was 4 stars 🌟 for me.
Thank you @netgalley and @harlequinbooks for an ARC for my honest review.

Sadie moves across county at the request of her husband to help pick up the pieces of his broken family. Sadie misses her old life but is excited to leave her family’s mistakes behind and start fresh. When their neighbor Morgan is murdered, Sadie fights to clear her family’s name, but is concerned by mounting evidence against them.
This was intriguing, but I didn’t find it SUPER well written. I don’t love when the author’s goal seems to be primarily focused on tricking the reader. I love of a good twist, but not at the expense of fully developed plots and characters. I guessed the ending about half way through, and had fun reading this one, but definitely didn’t love it.
Mary Kubica is hit or miss for me. I LOVED The Good Girl, but consider When the Lights Go Out one of the worst books I’ve ever read. Pretty Baby, Don’t You Cry, and now The Other Mrs. fall somewhere between those ends for me.
