At the point of being 10% into The Other Mrs. I was pretty certain that I knew the secret that was at the heart of the book and had thought to quickly read through to the end. That plan came to an end very soon as I became invested in the story. Turned out that there was a lot more to that central theme and the novel is more than a “who done it”. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining thriller.

This book starts so slow and stay that way for about 70% of it and then eventually picks up and gets quite interesting . Quite a bit of it was predictable ... although there is a twist at the end that’s quite good .

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy of this book.
A spooky atmosphere in Maine, unsettling questions about the husband and wife, and a local murder. This should be right up my alley. But for some reason I cannot put my finger on it was just okay for me. I enjoyed this for what it was, a nice thriller, but it doesn’t stand out in any special way.

“The Other Mrs.” by Mary Kubica is a new author to this reader. It is a well written, twisted, hypnotic and addictive story that draws you into the Foust Family, the little quirks, and the murder of their neighbor Morgan Baines. I typically do not read psychological thrillers but am incorporating them into my list of reads and this story did not fail.
The Foust Family are very dysfunctional i.e., the husband is a big flirt, the niece is a loner who has a dark past, the normal and troubled sons and the mother who suffers from what appears to be bipolar with hidden secrets. As soon as the family uproots to a new city, low and behold there is a murder next door. The neighbor is found dead the new family on the block and Sadie, the mother and wife become the lead suspect. The only way to clear her name is to find the real murderer.
This suspenseful novel kept my eyes glued to the pages…page after page pulling me into wanting to get to the end to find out “Who dun nit”. There is so many twists going on in every phase that when you thought you knew one thing, an “ah ha” moment happens and turns you in another direction. Sadie’s character was complex, Imogen was heart-breaking and Will was unforgiving. I won’t get too much more into the novel but to say tangled web and unpredictable. The suspense is never ending and the pace if perfect.
This book was amazing from start to finish and I have become a fan of this author. Will be looking forward to reading more from her.
Thanks very much to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5-Stars

Loved this book! Lots of great characters and many many twists and turns. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something else would happen and I was totally wrong. Great twisty thriller! Highly recommend.

If I would have known that this was a story involving multiple personalities I probably would not have read the book because I find that storyline rather simplistic. However, I am glad that I did read this book. It was another winner from the author. Putting aside my personal preference, I found the book to be well written and to do a good job of building on mystery and suspense. It is a book that I would recommend to others.

A thrilling psychological thriller you will devour -
Will and Sadie move to Maine, to a house he inherited when his sister died. With the house came Imogence, a troubled teen. Sadie is worried when their neighbor is murdered and all eyes begin to look at them, the new family in the neighborhood.
With Sadie's and Will's troubled past and Imogence troubled soul - you will be turning the pages quickly to discover a shocking ending!!!

Sadie and Will and their two kids move to his sisters house on an island in Maine after she dies. She also leaves her daughter to them to care for. Soon after someone is murdered and the police think it was Sadie so she makes it her business to find out what’s going on. There is a lot going on in this book. It’ll make you think you know what’s gonna happen and then something totally unexpected happens.
I really didn’t connect with Sadie and found her to be boring yet the writing kept my attention. I rather enjoyed Camille and Mouse and the way they “spoke”. So this tells me I will like other Mary Kubica books (this was my first).
I’m not sure if it’s just the ebook version but anywhere the letter “f” and “l” we’re together a space followed. (Muff led instead of muffled) and it became rather annoying I couldn’t always float over it naturally. Since it’s not a published book yet I haven’t let this affect my rating but I wanted to mention it for the publishers/editors.
4 out of 5

I totally flipped out to get to read another Mary Kubica novel! I love her previous novels and I wasn't disappointed! She has nailed it again! This thriller will have you up all night to finish this one just like The Good Girl, Pretty Baby, and Every Last Lie. The Other Mrs. is the perfect fall read with murder and creepy houses!
Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Brilliant, my favorite Mary Kubica book. It was dark and touched upon subject matter is a well-researched and creative manner. I had to finish this book, it was like going down a rabbit hole. The cover is stunning and suits the book perfectly and the story itself shines. It will be a book that I will high recommend and I appreciate the opportunity to have read it earlyl

I received a complimentary advance reader copy of this book from NetGalley. This did not influence my review in any way.
Although this book started out really slow it did pick up in the second half of the book. None of the characters were particularly like-able so it was hard to really root for any of them. The "twist" at the end of the book did surprise me but I think I should have inferred it a little quicker and many other readers may catch on quicker than I did. The ending wrapped up rather quickly and I do feel like there were some unanswered questions. All in all, this was a good thriller.

This book felt very rushed and formulaic to me. She has some good ideas but maybe the author needs to take more time writing the books vs publishing so frequently? This book was all over the place and while they dropped clues, they were not subtle at all. It was like being hit over the head.

Oh! How you only think you know someone.... I have to say this book left me feeling a bit unnerved (good thing). I don’t think I need to give any summary/synopsis, just know this— it will have you hooked if you’re taste in books is anything like mine. It is fast paced, gripping with continuous suspense throughout. 100% worthy of 5 big shinny Stars.
Thank you Netgalley, Harlequin and Mary Kubica for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review...

After Will’s sister dies, he and his wife, Sadie move from Chicago to a small island in Maine with their 2 sons to become the guardians of his niece. Shortly after they arrive their neighbor is murdered.
This book was a big improvement on this author’s last book where the ending was a total cop out. I thought I knew what was going on in this one and I was partially right. If what Inthought was going on was all that was going on, I would have been disappointed but luckily there was much more to the story and it all wrapped up in a way that I thought was pretty satisfying.

There is lots going on in this book, but it works! This book made me happy because I was disappointed with the last Kubica book and I felt this was more like her earlier books that I really enjoyed.
Sadie/Camile/Mouse are three narrators that wove a storyline with lots of turns which kept me guessing and wondering where Kubica was going to go next. With every 'thriller' there is a level of acceptance the reader needs to make regarding some of the happenings and this book is no exception, however, I found that the author explained things well and tied ends together well. I also appreciated how some of the historical trauma references in the book were not over detailed, implying enough information for us to understand the storyline without having to read a lot of glorified awfulness like some books have.
Overall this was a fun read.

Mary Kubica has done it again! Lots of great characters and lots of suspense!
Will and Sadie move to Maine due to Will's sister's )death. Will has inherited Alice's (his sister's) house and her 16 year old daughter, Imogen.. All four of them (Will, Sadie and their two boys) had screwed up quite well in Chicago so now - a fresh start! Right? No, wrong. And the premonition was felt there by Sadie from the start.
We go through the awful co-workers with Sadie. (She's the doctor - why let a nurse bully you?) A number of old flames of Will's are featured. It seems as if Will still might have had an affair already in Maine (?) Their 14 year old son, Otto is bullied and their 7 year old son is a bit spoiled. We go back in time to meet Camille who had an obsession for Will in Chicago - does it still continue? We read through her accounting of the Chicago story.
And, there is a murder across the way from Will and Sadie now that is still being investigated. Sadie thinks she will become a scapegoat for this murder. But, wasn't Will more than friendly with the victim???
A great story told by a great writer!
Many Thanks to Harlequin - Trade Publishing Park Row and NetGalley for a great read!

I really wanted to love this book. I enjoyed every bit of it until the last 40 pages or so. Those last pages kind of ruined it for me. I think as a whole, this is a really exciting and interesting read and would recommend it to certain people for that reason. But the ending was just a huge buzzkill. If you love Kubica as a storyteller, I am positive you will love this novel. However, this was my first foray into her work and I expected more.

I found this book to be contrived, every cliche possible used resulting in a novel that’s a hodgepodge of ideas already used by other authors.
So, 1. you have a move to a distant state for a new start, because of the husbands infidelity and the sons trouble at school. 2. They have to care for the husbands niece who of course is sullen and nasty after the suicide of her mother 3. There is a murder in the neighborhood and the clues falsely point to a member of this family. 4. The tension grows between all the family members and it’s not the new start supposedly envisioned. 5. The medical condition that explains the reason for the murder is far fetched, and what, the woman has lived this long, and never been told she’s had this condition before? 6. And lastly, of course, the husband isn’t who he seems to be.
Predictable and unbelieving, especially when these plot lines are all thrown together.

In The Other Mrs. We follow along a total of 3 female POV's (with a 4th added in near the end). The main plot follows Sadie and Will Foust who pack up their family from Chicago all the way to Maine for a fresh start. That is, until their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home, and the killer could still be on the island. This leaves Sadie shaken, and everyone starts to question the new family on the island. Sadie will do whatever it takes to get tot the bottom of the murder, but along the way, she discovers a lot more than she signed up for.
In my opinion, the book started a little slow for me but eventually it picks up and I was glued to it and couldn't put it down! This book had so many twists, it was really a page turner. Although, I had started to guess some of the twists around 3/4 of the way through the book was really entertaining! I liked the use of different POV's, but found the young girls to be heartbreaking. The use of child abuse was shocking, but proved to be useful in the overall story of this book. All of the characters were dark and twisted and so well written. They all had a past that eventually would catch up to them in the present
I really wasn't a fan of Sadie's character, while searching for answers for the murder she really believes that her son is the killer throughout the entire time. While looking for another person to put the blame on, she targets Will's niece Imogen who is left in their care after the death of her mother. Instead of Sadie attempting to find a logical explanation, she tries to reason as to how her own family executed the murders. It even gets so bad that she's afraid of being in her own home with them.
