Danielle Steele weaves a wonderfully
Authentic story of the family dynamics. Things are not always what they seem, and how we react to the situation is what sets us apart from others. The story surrounds a family and their lives - complete with secrets and regrets. The story reads well, and makes a person realize they are not alone in their struggles. Well doneMs. Steele - you have triumphed again!

I fell in love with the characters of Danielle Steels latest novel, Child Play. This family drama will engage you and pull you in from the very beginning. This family drama explores the complicated relationship between a mother and her adult children. The story takes you through the changes in their lives, the ups, downs and the challenges they faced finding happiness. A great read that does not disappoint. 4 stars.

Danielle Steele never disappointing. The writing and characters in this specific story came through.

I almost read the whole book in one day. Kate is a widow who, while raising her three children, attended law school. She is a lawyer and has never had any problems with her kids, she set high expectations for them and feels they've reached her goals for them. Until it all starts to change...the rest of the story we see how each of the kids make their own choices that change the course of their life from the life Kate expected of them. It's a story of finding your way to live your own life, revealing some secrets from the past and unconditional love. The story was easy to read and very enjoyable. Thank you NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Danielle Steele is an amazingly talented author. There's no doubt about that. Every book of hers catches you in the first few pages. This was no different. It wasn't my favorite of hers by any means, but it was a good, easy to read book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another fast, easy life affirming story by Danielle Steel.
Great story about a family with major differences of opinions and secrets and how they all find ways to get along despite theses differences and the secrets revealed.

I had no feelings either way towards this novel. It wasn't great. It wasn't horrible. It just...was.
The plot was typical of recent Steel novels. Single, widowed mother in her mid fifties is learning how to live with children that are less than perfect. Each one of her children grew up with perfect grades, no misbehavior, so on, but as they enter their 30s/late 20s they experience growing pains. Their mom can't deal with it.
It all starts when her youngest decides to have a child out of wedlock. This is a bone of contention for the WHOLE novel, and it's ridiculous. Other things occur as the mom tries in vain to micromanage her kids into living the way she thinks they should, so much so that her oldest hides a big secret from her entire family.
Overall, the book was predictable. There were no surprises to be found, but for a quick beach read, it's not bad.

Another easy fast read by Danielle Steel. Her stories are all interesting, entertaining and make you want to turn the page. This book is no exception....flew through it and enjoyed every page.

This was a typical Steel quick read book. I did enjoy this book more than Lost and Found. However, I found myself disliking the main character. There were some really good themes in this book, but the main character had these themes falling flat. I felt she could have dealt with many of these issues in a better way. I was glad that I read the book, and could relate to the characters in the book.

Danielle Steel always writes a fantastic book. Her writing and characters are are well developed. She always makes you wanting to read the book book.

The best book I have ever read from Danielle Steel. It truly demonstrated how love is everything and perfection is merely a facade that never leads to happiness. I smiled through the entire book.

The perfect book for a women’s book club! What I specifically love is the main character and her struggles. I’ve read at least 20 of Danielle Steel’s books and this is definitely in my top 5!

Danielle Steel is a classic with a great number of amazing books. I will say though that this one was not my favorite of her works.

What can I say? This is my 23rd book I’ve reviewed on Goodreads by Danielle Steel. And since I started reading her books in the 1970’s I know for a fact I’ve read so many more “back in the day”. This book was a fast, easy read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All opinions are my own.

Oh, Danielle Steel, how I will always love the stories that you write! As a mother, I found this book beautiful and touching in a familiar Steel manner....it is a story of loving, supporting, and not being afraid (or too foolish) to learn to let go. As a parent, we have an idea of what we want for our children and, so many times, as we all know, those plans and dreams just don't work out. I stayed up all night reading this beautiful, touching story and found myself identifying with the situations and various moments throughout in a very personal way. I loved everything about this and it is sure to be a knockout hit for the Fall reading list! I am so happy to recommend this without any reservation, whatsoever!

Sit down, suspend disbelief and sink into another Danielle Steel book. Yes, we probably could predict most of the events after the first few minutes of reading, but it’s just a delightful way to sit out on a balcony and enjoy the life of this family coming to grips with subjects that are very common in 21st century life.
Kate, a loving mother and successful lawyer thought she had 3 perfect children. As the story unfolds, she learns that she has not escaped family turmoil. She also has to face her own future, perhaps not as a totally independent woman.
I enjoyed this book, a good relaxing read. I think reading groups might enjoy discussing Kate’s disappointment with her children’s actions and whether they are legitimate in this day.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this very entertaining novel.

Kate is a lawyer with three adult children who have all been successful in their own regard. In one summer, each child has a life-changing event or decision that they face, and Kate feels like their perfect and calm life is on the verge of crumbling. The story reveals how the family deals with each situation, and how relationship evolve and change. I thought this was a very nice read and actually read the majority of the book in one night.

Kate is a single mother of 3 adult children. All have been raised in many eyes, perfectly, having attended the best schools, good careers, never having been in trouble It is a model family in photos and on paper. Kate has high standards for her children and will stop at nothing seemingly to ensure that picture stays perfect. It all begins to unravel for her when youngest daughter Claire announces she is pregnant, with no intention of marrying the father who she feels is not good enough for her. Meanwhile her son Anthony is in a loveless engagement to a woman Kate feels is perfect for him. Fate intervenes and Anthony meets another woman he falls head over heels for and must make a dreaded decision. Stay in a relationship where he feels smothered and unhappy, or risk it all for the woman he loves. The third child, daughter Tammy has been harboring a secret from her mother for years due to the fear of rejection and humiliation. Finally she lets her guard down and tells the truth. As the story unfolds we see Kate's walls come down and she becomes more accepting of her children for who they are, not who SHE wants them to be. She even lets down her ultimate guard and allows a man to enter her life. In the end, she is able to find happiness seeing the world through the eyes of her family and not just with her rose colored glasses.
This a great read about the power of family bonds. It is also a story of acceptance, love, grace, and humility. I read it in one evening.
