This book was absolutely heartbreaking, but I couldn't put it down. It was a quick, but hard read for me. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child and having to continue living. It definitely had a religious aspect to it, but that is part of the moving on and accepting the loss and learning to love and live again.

A pretty good read. Maybe read it on a cold day when you are stuck inside. It kept my attention, but I'm not over the moon by the story.

I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

This was an intense & emotional read. Losing a child is every parent's worst fear. This book touched on that difficult topic. Beautifully written.

A good story and one that pulled on my heartstrings, having lost a child myself. Neither my husband or i are religious in any way and didn't need religion to get us through difficult times. Am glad to have read this book and do thank Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy.

This book was amazing! If you like Jodi Picoult's style you will love this book. A heartbreaking look at the death of a couples only child and the way it affects the state of their marriage. The two novellas written as prequels are amazing as well. Highly recommend!

Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.

I guess this book just wasn't for me. Perhaps because I never was able to relate to the main characters? They just didn't.......well I don't even know how to explain it. I didn't feel any connection to them. So I quit the book about halfway through. I wish I would have been able to like it. Didn't though.

In It Happened to Us, Matthieu and Lori-Anne have to deal with the unimaginable tragedy of losing a child. It was a realistic account of a couple trying to cope and grieve. I did enjoy the tale, but if pressed I would say that the narrative tended to be a bit more clinical than emotional with its push for medical intervention for Matthieu. It was a worthwhile read, delving into a heavy subject matter.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and François Houle for an ARC copy of It Happened to Us in exchange for an honest review.
