*3 OKAY STARS*

I read this book about 10 days ago but I forgot to write a review the instant I finished it.
I can tell you I enjoyed this, but I can't for the life of me remember what happened exactly, or how this ended, or even the names of the main characters.
I do remember liking the romantic suspense aspect, it was well executed.
I've read a couple of other books in the meantime, so that might be the reason, or maybe the story just wasn't all that memorable, I don't know.
Anyway, I probably won't continue this series.

Contains adult themes such as sex, strong language and scenes of violence. Gifted | This book Killer for Hire was gifted to me by Netgalley in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own. At the beginning of the story we come face to face with our two main characters but have no idea what’s actually going on except that Luca is preparing to kill a man and in the end we meet young Serena who is scared out of her mind. Although we don’t know what happened to Serena within the room it is constantly brought up creating a mystery. This story is in two points of view it switches between both Luca and Serena in a very clear and concise way.

The story then moves to a few years later. We meet a more mature, professional, strong independent women also known as Serena and a strong, smart, skilled, fierce and warrior Luca.

Tension unfolds quiet early in within this story between Luca and Lorenzo which creates really good suspense throughout the story. There isn’t only tension between Luca and Lorenzo there is also huge sexual tension between our two main characters and some hot and steamy sex scenes that leaves nothing to the imagination.

Not really my kind of book, and the back and forth timing and different voices were off-putting to me. The writing though was consistent and the characters stayed true to form.

I want to thank NetGalley, Kobo writing life, and Alexis Abbott for the Arc of killer for hire. I want to first say that this isn't my usual type of romance or rom com book but it looked interesting and I wanted to give it a chance. While I did think it was a well written book it wasn't really for me. There was a lot about the mafia and some violence that I just could have done without. While i would recommend to people who like those types of things in their romance books it just wasn't for me but I am happy I gave it a shot.

I really enjoyed Serena and Luca. Luca is so rough and has lead a violent life but Serena has always loved him, even the many years they spend apart haven't diminished their love. Perhaps because her dad was also in the mob, Serena is able to see the good man in Luca that most would not. The minute she realizes he's back her life feels full again.

This book is full of violence. Explaining Luca's heart and profession, explaining Serena's circumstances and engrossing their current situations. Violence everywhere. When all seems lost, Luca does everything he can to protect Serena. Totally swoon worthiness there!

The story is dark and hard to read but the love story is tender and engaging.

This was a good mafia romance, it does end on a cliff hanger. I do wish that it had more of Luca and Serinas history. I did enjoy it aand will be reading the next one.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Killer for hire by Alexis Abbott.
A fantastic read with some great characters. I loved Luca and Serena. I didn't like Lorenzo and his goons. I loved how he protected her. Wow lots of action and romance too. This is book one of a new series. I cant wait for book two. This ends with a cliffhanger too. I liked the cover too. Highly recommended. 5*.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Shame on me for not reading the whole description and getting to the end of the book only to realize that this is a series and the book is left on a cliff hanger.

This really is not the type of book that I typically get as it is heavy on the sex and light on the relationship with a little drama through in as Luca and Serena fight to stay alive and out of the hands of the rival mafia family.

I really wish that there would have been some explanation for the very beginning scene and that is only revealed in tiny bits and pieces and never explained but maybe in the next book?

All I can say is this - if you read a book for the graphic sex then you will like this book, if you enjoy the mafia hero who saves his woman then you will like this book.

I had a real hard time figuring out what to rate this book as it really is not my preference and I don't want to rate it lower because of my taste but want to give an honest rating based on the subject, characters and writing style.

For a mafia romance, this came off a little too light for my liking. Luca and Serena didn't once talk about their history together, just fell straight back into their old romance. It was obvious they loved each other, but everything from Luca's one lesson on fighting, sex scenes, and threats from Lorenzo just fell flat a were pretty cheesy. I found myself skimming through at least a third of the book. I'm not planning on reading the rest of the series.

Serena should have been mine.I surrendered my very soul to the mafia in exchange for her life. For five years, I’ve been the man they call when they need someone deadly. Dangerous. But despite the blood I’ve spilt, they’re after her again. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Alexis Abbott is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.

You know those goosebumps you get when you meet a hero that touches you just right? He's got you all tingly and smiling for no damn reason? That's Luca. Italian-born, this man rose up through the ranks of the mafia. He was the go-to guy when you needed things done and done right. He was lethal, cunning, cold and deadly. But for as much wrath as he had for the enemies of la famiglia, his heart and soul belonged to the girl of his past. Serena owned him and he had claim over her. Teenage lovers, the world of the mafia tore them apart. Now they're back together, but the mafia isn't done with them. Serena's a target and Luca will cut down, cut through, and demolish anyone and anything in order to protect her.

This new-to-me author has got me completely wrapped up in this Killer Trilogy. With one 'killer' of a cliffhanger, I'm desperate to find out the fate of these characters. I'm hooked! For Luca alone, his dirty mouth, his deadly ways, the amazing action scenes, for everything that makes this guy so super awesome, read this book. I bet you'll be as fascinated as I am.

I need to start by saying…..I am not a fan of Cliffhangers! And as this is the first of a trilogy, that is exactly how it ends. However, knowing that I have to wait for the next two books to get closure, won’t deter me from reading what comes next, as this was definitely an action-packed, fast-moving, dynamic read that had this reader on the edge on her seat.

Serena and Bruno are imposing and complex characters, whose chemistry is nothing less than explosive, and while some parts of this story are a little over the top, bear in mind this is a Mafia story and in that genre all bets are off. Danger is a must throughout this enthralling romance and anyone that likes their stories a bit on the sordid side of life will gobble this one up in one sitting. So please bring on book two quickly Ms Abbott, as I’m dying to know what comes next!

This is the first book in a trilogy so if you aren't into cliffhangers where you need to read the next book then it probable isn't for you The good thing is that book two and three are already available.

Bruno and Serena loved one another but the mafia pulled them apart He sacrificed himself and he became a hit-man for the mafia to keep her safe Now when she is been targeted to pay protection money he is back to keep her safe as he has always watched her from a distance keeping her safe. Now they are together again will they have a chance at a HEA or will the past tear them apart once again.
