As e continue slugging with the Reapers this the story of Bradach and Maeve. While the story show progressed the over timeline of events across the Dragon Kings world, it was not earth shattering. Maeve is a interesting character, Dark fae and extremely infuriating for Bradach. But there is an attraction that can not be denied.

Donna Grant will reel you into her fantasy world filled with fae, magic, and a whole lot of romance. Each one of the Dark Alpha's stories is built around a Reaper. Being betrayed that led to their death is not the final outcome, there is more to their story, and death isn't the ending.

A wonderful story that will captivate your attention until the end! You’ll forget the world is going on around you as you immerse yourself in this story.

Bradach is a Reaper who used to be a Light Fae, and is carrying a big chip on his shoulder about the Dark Fae. Eoghan assigns Bradach to work with Balladyn to meet up with Maeve the Merciless. The intent is to get information on places Usaeil may be hiding with Xaneth. Balladyn introduces Bradach to Maeve, then bows out of the situation.

Maeve the Merciless is a merchant who took over for her father. His ways of dealing with traitors and threats was to kill. Maeve grew up seeing that and continues his ways, but by ordering the kills. That sort of keeps her from getting all the Dark features so she uses a glamour to make herself looking fully Dark. That is what Bradach sees when he meets Maeve but the attraction is instant. He fights the attraction as much as he can.

The two visit multiple places that Maeve remembers Usaeil having talked about until they find the place they suspect she is hiding out at. Bradach tries to get Maeve to go home while he investigates. There are creatures surrounding the house that Bradach has a hard time avoiding. Maeve didn't actually leave so she witnesses Bradach using his Reaper abilities. So when Bradach sees evidence of Usaeil, Maeve happens to be right there with him.

Bradach tries to return Maeve and explain things, but she ends up helping in the fight against Usaeil. Bradach thinks he is getting over his resentment of the Dark, and the two seem to give up things about each other and become a couple. Until they end up in the battle against Usaeil's creatures. Maeve feels betrayed but shows she can really kick ass. Even when one of the creatures holds a surprise for her.

I was really surprised that she was able to fight the way she was. I originally felt that dealing with Usaeil and the Reapers was just something she was above. My heart really broke for Maeve when everything comes crashing down on her. Aisling tries to help her and explain a little about Bradach. Maeve keeps Aisling's words in mind as her and Bradach work through their issues.

I don't know. I liked Maeve, but she wasn't my favorite female character of the series. For some reason, even though she was portrayed as a strong character, I kind of felt she wasn't as strong emotionally as some of the other female characters. The book itself is a good one, where we see Usaeil's strange creatures. This is book 8 and we are still dealing with Usaeil's whining about Rhi. I'm getting really anxious for them to finally battle this out. In this book, even the Dragon Kings are brought in to help which was fun. Also, do they find Xaneth? You'll have to read to find out!

The Reaper’s have another mission and this one could literally change the landscape of the entire Fae world and quite possibly turn the tide of the war for the Dark Kings and their allies. Donna Grant has an astonishing ability to interweave so many series and storylines into one tapestry of magic and danger and readers are left wondering what could possibly come next after each story. The Reaper’s are working to help the Dark Kings to defeat the Fae Queen in order to maintain the balance of good and evil in the world that Death has striven for all her years. Bradach is told to enlist the help of one of the most well-known Dark Fae in the world, a female that has the ability to provide her clients with just about any item that need. Maeve has spent her entire adult life filling her father’s shoes in the business and hiding behind the glamour she shows the world, but when the Dark King introduces her to the mysterious Fae her world is turned upside down. Bradach and Maeve suddenly find themselves drawn inexplicably to one another and unable to denial the love that develops instantly, but their enemies are around every corner. It was amazing to watch Bradach and Maeve as they uncovered secrets and worked together to overcome extraordinary odds in order to be together and finally have a chance at happiness. I really loved how sweet but passionate Bradach was in his defense of Maeve once he truly got to know her and saw her for the woman, she was instead of the one she presented to the world. Maeve has spend so long hiding from her personal truth that when she finally just let herself be free, she became a force to be reckoned with and deserved every happiness that she was offered in the end. I am dying to find out what happens next and see where Donna takes us on this amazing journey with the King and Reapers, along with a few special allies, in their goal of defeating a corrupt queen and bringing balance back to the world. Keep the Magick coming, Ms. Grant.

Donna Grant writes some of the most captivating stories. Her characters make you want to be there with them. You feel immersed in the story from page one.

With this eighth book in the Reaper series, Donna Grant delivers yet another fun and exciting book. This time the hero of the book is Bradach and the heroine is Maeve. If you like strong heroines who sweep the hero off their feet, then I think you’ll love this book.

Bradach and Maeve could seem like an unlikely match but these two alpha personalities do complement each other nicely. I have come to realize that the romances in this series tend to unfold much more rapidly in this series compared to Grant’s other series. However, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that you have to be prepared for the fast pace that these books move in.

We do also get updates on other characters in the background which I’ve come to expect in nearly all of Grant’s books. She also goes really great quick recaps so new readers won’t ever feel too lost if they decide to jump in at any point in the series.

That being said, I think the writing is engaging but still kept quite simple so that readers can ride along without feeling like their being jostled around too much with what is happening.

I ended up enjoying this book a lot and am looking forward to see what comes next from Donna Grant.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story.The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

This is the first book that focuses on the new set of Reapers that we learned about in Dark Alpha's Hunger, book six in the overall series. It's there that we first learn about Bradach and why we should be interested in him in the first place. It's only a glimpse, but it does tell us he's loyal, determined, and fierce when necessary. I'll be honest though, the newer Reapers are interesting, but I can't say they drew me in as the first group did...at least not yet.

On his own, Bradach took a lot longer for me to warm up to. Not because he was flawed or bad, just because he was kind of subdued, a whole lot judgy and grudge-holding, and sparse on the details about him and his past that would give us some kind of connection with him. Maeve on the other hand, was fierce, strong-willed, intelligent, vulnerable, caring, complex, and just a strong-as female. Definitely worthy of being a female lead to love from the get-go. She was complex in a way that gave her depth and not ineffective half-assed complications.

One nitpick for me was Bradach's skills. The reason he was chosen for this particular mission was his incredible attention to detail in the broad scope of the bigger picture and his ability to have a level head. They were used only once when that was the push for getting him to agree to the assignment in the first place. It just wasn't enough to prove it was a skill instead of a gut feeling in one instance. The same with his level head. I know Maeve and his attraction to her pretty much knocked him ass over tea kettle, but there were rarely, if any, moments of cool heads and minute detail observations.

The relationship itself was pretty good because both characters held something within them that was just what the other needed. There were moments that Maeve got all hurt when she jumped to conclusions and Bradach denied things for far too long for my liking, but once they were on the same page I was a believer. Their passion was banked but present throughout the story. It was also sufficiently intense in the one brief moment they had a chance to give in.

As for the plot, it hinged on the problem that is the Queen of the Light. She is a problem for everyone in their world and finding out exactly why, what she's up to, and who she's consorting with was the focus. She's ultimately a problem for the Dragon Kings, but because she's a fae she also falls under Death's purview. I loved seeing things ramp up with the confrontation with Usaeil and who all the players will be and why, but unless you've read the other connected series or the other books in this series, it would be difficult to see just why she's such an issue.

If you're reading the Dark Kings series, this story will be an incredible gem for seeing Usaeil in all her "glory", so it may serve as a bit of a spoiler for those who haven't started that series prior to reading. This is kind of a standalone, but best if read in order of the Reapers series and only a "bonus" for the other connected Dark Kings series.

So while I wasn't immediately drawn in by the newer set of Reapers, I'm invested now and really want to see how each of them find their mates, what dangers they'll face and why, and how the overall story ties them all together.

Arguably one of the most forgettable books in the series.
We start out following one of the new reapers, who still hates the dark fae even though he's supposed to be unaffiliated between the two. We meet a dark fae who does.... something that makes her infamous. I'm not even trying to be cagey, I couldn't tell you what she does that makes her so feared. They fall in love, obviously, but the "action" from the other books was missing, and I don't think this story will be able to carry on after the death of the original villain.

As is with all stories in the Dark World, Dragon Kings, Light and Dark Fae, humans and Reapers appear in this tale of deceit, betrayal, love, and surrender. Bradach is convinced he can never trust a Dark Fae, even if some of his fellow reapers were dark once. But as Death sends him to find and protect Maeve the Merciless, he will have no choice but to give in. Working side by side with the king of the Dark Fae and Maeve puts him in a rough stop. She has a reputation for being cruel and intolerant. A reputation that put her on Usaeil's radar. As the reapers continue searching for Xaneth, they know Meave could be the piece they are missing to win. But as battles are forged and passions flair, Bradach will have to face the truth: he doesn't only trust Meave, he loves her. The closer we get to the final battle, the higher are the stakes. Every little bit of information on Rhi and the kings make each tale of love and will, another morsel to be savored. I can't wait to find out who will fall in love next...

When Donna Grant started this series I was like no way can she continue on each time putting us on the edge of our seats but I was wrong. This is book 8 and each time I feel like we are close to getting Usaiel. Bradach, is a man I didn’t see coming with his history but he is perfect for Maeve. They both in a way come from the same way yet fate has something in store for them. We see Bradach in two different ways it is easy to love him. One minute he is Death’s assistant determined to get the job done. Then we see him as a lover for Maeve, just a man being there for his woman in every way. This is more than just Bradach and Maeve, Usaiel is getting more anxious and the torture she does to Xaneth is heartbreaking. All in all these two are like complete in every way it is hard to see how Death can separate them but become allies as well. Loved it.

Dark Alpha's Redemption is the 8th book in the Reaper series. I do recommend that readers read the proceeding seven books as there is a lot of information needed to know before reading this book. I was given a ARC copy of the book by Netgalley and the publisher for a honest review of the book.

I have always enjoyed reading the Reaper stories and the newest title does not disappoint. Bradach is a member of the secret Reaper group so readers have not had much of a chance to get to know him, like some of the other members of the Reapers. That doesn't stop the story from being fast-paced with action, dram and romance. Maeve is fiesty, as any counterpart to a Reaper should be.

Readers will learn about another series Donna Grant writes that crosses over to the Reaper series. It's not a must to read that series to better understand the Reaper series. But readers may find it helpful when references are made to characters that have not had an active part in the Reaper series.

Book 8 of the Reaper Series, Dark Alpha’s Redemption by Donna Grant is a highly recommended read. I caution you that this book is part of a series and should be read in order.

Let’s be honest, all of us enjoy an excellent paranormal read that has some seriously kick-ass females and their hella sexy male counterparts. This story was fun, engaging and had a great amount of mystery and intrigue. Ms. Grant knows how to bring her characters to life and as always does such wonderful job in the execution and weaving of her stories.

It is another great addition to the Reaper series. The hero and heroine have great chemistry and the supporting cast (as usual) don’t disappoint. It’s a world full of mystery and complicated twists and turns so I’d highly recommend reading the series in order or the reader will be confused.

Donna Grant continues to amaze her readers with this magical world of Dragon Kings, Fae, Reapers, and Others.

Bradach is one of the new Reapers who the author had introduced in an earlier book, and Maeve is a very powerful Fae in her own right. Their romance began with secrets between them but the connection they shared was immediate and intense. The plot had loads of action and twists that were delivered at a fast pace that never once slowed down. The author did a brilliant job of engaging my interest along with my emotions. I went through it all right along with my favorite characters. All I can say is .... everyone has seriously underestimated Usaeil. My heart was completely broken but I loved every second of it.

I was captivated by this story, the characters, and the enthralling twists that were revealed in Bradach and Maeve's book. So freaking much happened in this one ! I am still recovering from the shock and how my heart was simply shattered by the ending. I cried my eyes out over this book, and yet I can't wait for the next one !

Book Review- Dark Alpha’s Redemption by Donna Grant

Another Reaper is introduced, Bradach. He is a member of Eoghan’s team. The story continues as Xaneth is missing and they know Usaeil has him. They just have to find her. Bradach used to be light and he does not like the Dark at all. He lets his feelings known from the start. Of course, the author makes him travel to the Castle of the Dark to get help from the King of the Dark, Balladyn.
Maeve the Merciless is the target because she may know where Usaeil may be. Bradach is not happy with his assignment until he meets Maeve. Talk about opposites attract. I love how they meet and feel some type of connection but don’t admit it.
Bradach is a pretty cool character as he starts learning not all dark are bad. Maeve is an awesome character as she is strong, but also has vulnerability that she hides from the world. The author has her showing it to Bradach as they learn to work together and trust each other.
Of course, Bradach being a Reaper is a secret. Maeve doesn’t know at first. It is dangerous for her to know. I love how the story continues. Usaeil is so awful and full of herself. She underestimates Death and Rhi. It is another step toward the final battle. The author is doing a great job to continue to build the story. No one knows exactly what could happen or why Rhi is the one who must deal with Usaeil. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I give this story between Bradach and Maeve a 4 out of 5.

Political intrigue, secrets, and a lighting romance, oh my. This book is provides an interesting story filled with compelling characters, that made it hard to put down.

I was very worried entering into reading this book because I had not read any other books in the series previously. I wondered if I would be able to become invested in a literary universe that had already been established and feel for tangential characters that were already established. Luckily, I found that I did not feel lost, though I did have to work to put some of the pieces together.

I really enjoyed the war plot that was actually center stage, with the budding romance more of an after thought. I believe that writing decision will make this book an enjoyable read for a varied audience. For me, I was left craving .more both between the main characters and the story in general. I will probably read other books in the series because I want to know what will happen next.

So I haven’t read all the books in this series but I have read a handful so I do have a good grasp of the characters and their plot lines, though you don’t really need to to read this book though it is helpful. I also usually enjoy the books in the dragon king and reaper series but this one fell flat for me.

There wasn’t a lot of things happening and the love aspect happened too quick; it made it all seem very lack lustre and superficial. The one selling point for me was the heroine. Nothing gets me like a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to fight for it. I adored Maeve’s character and I hope she’s utilized in future books because I really didn’t get enough of her.

With all that being said, I’m moving on to reading the next book in the Reaper series and I’m looking forward to it.
