This book is not one I'd recommend as a stand-alone read - at this point I am so invested in this series, I can't imagine not having read all the other books first. Including the Dragon Kings series. Donna Grant does a lot of explaining about the circumstances that led up to this book, but in some ways I wish she hadn't - that way the book could have focused more on the current leads and moving the story arc forward. In a lot of ways, I felt like I was treading water with this book. Learning new information - but not going anywhere.

I loved Braddach in all his brooding glory. I also loved Maeve in her tough but lonely persona. I loved that Braddach didn't question whether Maeve could handle herself. He didn't try to rescue her or push her out of the way so he could handle things himself. Even to the point at which Maeve wanted him to help her - but he didn't because she needed to do it herself.

I love Donna Grant's writing and this world she has created. I just wish a little more had happened in this story.

ARC received for review

Love this series, but I wasn't as invested in this one since I did really know Bradach. I don't remember anything about him from the previous books. Maeve was one kick arse Fae. I loved how their relationship evolved. Best part was with the Dragon Kings and other Reapers.

Can't wait for Fever and maybe will finally find out where the UB!tch has Con and Xaneth...and where the heck is Rhi?

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

If you can get through the first couple of pages where it seems like it is nothing but names you can't pronounce, this is an awesome book. I can honestly say I am a fan and look forward to reading the whole series. This really kept my attention with Fae, Reapers, Dragon Kings, need I say more. I easily followed this love story and was stunned when it ended, guarantees I pick up the next one. I highly recommend this book.

DARK ALPHA'S REDEMPTION is an engaging and fast-paced continuation of the Reaper series. While the couple is new and could be a stand-alone, most of the plot in this book is focused around the ongoing conflicts with Usaeil. For that reason, I would recommend reading the earlier books in the series and/or Dragon Kings series to fully grasp the plot and the many characters involved.

This book begins with Bradach, a former Light Fae and now Reaper. He has an intense distrust and hatred for all Dark Fae. When he is given a mission to seek help from a Dark Fae, Maeve, in locating Usaeil, he is not sure if he wants to complete the task. When he meets Maeve, he begins to question his long-held beliefs about the Dark Fae and question his own immediate attraction to her.

Maeve is business royalty in the Fae realm, and this has left her lonely. Most people who surround her are there for her power, and so, it's hard to build relationships. She has been pretty happy with this path, but things begin to change when she meets the enigmatic Bradach. As she begins to help him, she considers her past as well.

Together, they are a force to be reckoned with. With chemistry that leaps off the page, the couple was really fantastic. I wish there had been more with the two of them, but this book does build up for something big coming in the future, with lots of danger/intrigue, as the Dragon Kings and Reapers head for the bigger conflicts with Usaeil. It was fun to see characters from the previous books popping up here. If you have not kept up with the series though, it may be hard to follow, as there are a lot of characters to remember.

Bradach/Maeve are a fantastic pair, and I would highly recommend for fans of the series. I would also recommend the whole series to anyone who loves paranormal romance- you won't be disappointed! Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Another Reaper story! I love this group of tough warriors and their boss, Death!

I loved Maeve! She was feisty yet wary, and her business savvy served her well in the Fae court. She was surprisingly open with Bradach, exposing more then she normally did, but I liked how it gave a chance to understand her reasoning. It also didn’t hurt that she could take care of herself in a battle, but was honest enough with herself to admit she also wanted someone to lean on at times.

I found Bradach amusing. He starts out with one mindset and in one meeting with Maeve, he flipped a coin and started to question if it was all Dark Fae he struggled with or just certain ones. His internal struggle made sense once I learned his past, and while I was sympathetic, I loved when he challenged himself and turned his thought process around.

Because the Reaper books tend to be shorter then the Dragon King stories, everything usually happens at a fast clip, including the romance. Not that it’s a bad thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I think it worked well this time! Maeve and Bradach’s attraction was instant, but felt like a fated moment, instead of a quick flame. And while I normally wish there was longer development, having met a few couples who met and married within a week and lasted 60+ years...so yeah, I can easily believe this couple is in it for the long hall!!

Book 8 in the Reaper series (and I don’t know what number in the Dark series), I really enjoyed Maeve and Bradach’s story! It was action packed with a splendid attraction, and there are peeks about Rhi and Usaeil’s eventual showdown as well as mentions about Dragon King Constantine and a few other players on the board. Grant writes theses stories with just enough back info to be able to jump in at any point and not feel too lost and DAR is no different.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley and St. Martin’s. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
