First of all, thanks for the opportunity to read this book in exchange of a fair review.

I have never read Jo Crow before but from now on, I know I'll keep an eye on her books!! What a thriller!! Poor Karen everything is falling apart around her and you have no idea who/what is causing it....I thought I had it figure it out but of course I was off!!! I didn't know see that twist coming at the end!!

I truly enjoyed it, would be recommending it to my friends for sure.

So many twists and turns. The ending was not what I'd expected it to be at all. I spent 90% of the book thinking I knew it all and then the twists and turns kept me guessing right until the end. I'll be looking out more of this author.

Overall, this book was just OK for me. It was mildly suspenseful with the occasional plot twist.
This was the 1st book by this author I've read and I will consider reading more by her.

I love this Secrets of Suburbia series! I read the previous books on kindle unlimited and was excited to see the latest one available here. This book was fast moving-meaning it kept my attention and the details were as such that you kept reading. I wouldn't say the suspense was intense, but the interest was definitely there! I guessed the entire way through as to who the villain was-didn't see that coming!

I will rate A Mother's Loss by Jo Crow 4/5 stars. This was my first read by this author. Dr. Karen Marks, a Chicago children's psychiatrist, has made many mistakes in her life, one mainly involving the death of one of her twins, a son named Luke. Plagued with memories of an affair and a rendezvous with her lover on the afternoon her son was killed, Dr. Marks tries to help as many children as she can live long and meaningful lives... There's only one problem... Someone wants her to suffer. Suffer for causing so many people around her pain. When false allegations of sexual misconduct about her deceased husband arises, the question remains: Can Dr. Marks recover her husband's good name and salvage her practice and reputation?

What I enjoyed about this book:
It was entertaining enough to keep my interest. I found it odd that Dr. Marks believed her deceased husband, Graham, had been gay, yet decided to stay married to him out of obligation and platonic love. I kept reading to discover who had set her up and spewed all these lies about Graham by paying two former high school students of his, now turned prostitutes, to lie and say he sexually molested them during school. I found it interesting that the daughter, April, she had given up for adoption all of a sudden entered her life during the time these allegations were started. It was also uncanny that April's son, Ethan, bore a striking resemblance to Dr. Mark's deceased son, Luke. The twist at the end was very unexpected and I thoroughly enjoyed it... Hence my giving this book the rating that I did.

What I did not enjoy about this book:
It was far too detailed. I usually enjoyed detailed books, but the way this book was written, the details were overkill and the author was repetitive in many places in the books. I found myself becoming bored in some of the chapters and skipping over paragraphs due to this. Sometime more is too much... The author should have kept some simplicity and leaving it to the reader's imagination in some places.

Dr. Marks was not a loveable character and was far too self-centered. I did not enjoy her at all. I actually didn't like one character in this book. None were relatable or someone I could find myself rooting for or loving.

A Mother's Loss is a very well written suspense. I enjoyed the author's writing and the plot with its many twists and turns. Couldn't put this one down. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.

A good read with a lot of twists and turns about a family with layers of secrets buried so deeply that had they all been revealed at once it would have required a metaphorical bulldozer. Luckily, as the story unfolds, the secrets are peeled back like layers of an onion leading to an unexpected ending, which makes years of anger and grief finally start to heal.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A Mother’s Loss is a roller coaster of a book. I devoured this in just a few short hours. I couldn’t put it down. A must read!

A Mother's Loss was an intelligently written and detailed account of a woman's world unraveling, one secret at a time. Although told through the voice of the protagonist, I was mostly ambivalent towards her and the entire cast of actors. At times, the story seemed to be mired by excessive descriptions of scenery and physical character traits. My appreciation for the novel faltered in that the plot hovered on the edge of implausible. It was difficult to fathom that some of the events and actions would transpire in an every day setting (i.e. Karen's misconception about Graham).

Overall, the story was well-written and a worthwhile read.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Jo Crow for an ARC of A Mother's Loss in an exchange for an honest review.
