I didn't realise until I started reading the book, this was the 6th one, this didn't spoil the enjoyment of the book, a couple of things are referred to as having happened previously but book still flowed without me having to wonder what had happened.

Josie Quinn is at a local park with her friend's son and starts chatting to a couple and their 7 year old daughter who then disappears into thin air after a carousel ride with her parents.

There is also a separate story about domestic/child abuse which seems to be a separate story but is all that it seems?

I really enjoyed this book, it flowed well, was well written and had interesting characters.

Recommended and would read others by this author.

I love the Josie Quinn series so was looking forward to reading this. It was just as amazing as all the previous 5 books. In fact they are getting better if that’s possible!! It had me gripped from the first page and I couldn’t put it down hence I read it in a day. I love all the main characters and like how you get an insight into Josie’s life in each book. Although it can be read as a stand-alone i feel it’s better to read in order to get all the background on the characters. I can’t wait for the next instalment. Bring it on!!

Josie Quinn is back on the case in book six of the Josie Quinn series!

Seven-year-old Lucy Ross goes missing from a playground she was at with her two parents. Josie Quinn immediately begins looking for her, but there are no signs of the little girl anywhere. Minutes count when children go missing and once Lucy's backpack is found with a note inside - a note form the kidnapper - "answer your phone, or your sweet little darling will die…"

More manpower is called in and the series regulars I have come to love (Noah, Gretchen, Luke, Misty, Trinity) are also on the case. Once again, Regan continues to show character development with her characters in this series. While most books in this series can be read as standalone novels, I believe this book best serves as a bridge to what is yet to come as Regan sets the stage for more character development and relationship development in the next book.

With most of her books, Lucy's kidnapping is not the only mystery. There were many questions in this book, and I was looking for many answers. Regan is a master at linking the main plot and subplots in the end while building the tension and suspense. Any parents who has, even temporarily had their child go missing form their view, knows the gut-wrenching fear and anxiety, and swell of relief when you see your child again. What happens when you turn your back for one second, turn back around, and can’t find him/her? What happens when seconds turn into minutes, then hours, then days? Regan did a fabulous job of showing the effects a child's kidnapping has on each parent and their marriage.

Another solid hit by Regan who has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I'm highly anticipating the next book in the series. This is a highly addictive series and I can't get my hands and eyes on these books fast enough.

Wow! What a thrill ride!

They were riding the carousel when Lucy disappeared. Detective Josie Quinn is at the park with the three-year old son of a good friend when Lucy is taken. She immediately sets in motion an investigation into Lucy's disappearance.

The reader gets sucked into the drama. This is not just another kidnapping story. It is a tale of surprises, twists and turns. When the FBI joins Josie's team, the search team is greatly enhanced. They soon discover that Amy is not quite what she seems. She has secrets – many secrets.

People who know Amy and Lucy are being murdered. What is this kidnapper's motive? What does he (or she), want? While Amy insists that she doesn't know any more people who could be in danger, she is wrong. The surprises keep coming. I was literally glued to the pages of this book.

This is the story of a painstaking and step-by-step investigation into Lucy's kidnapping. The FBI and the Denton City Police are very competent and professional. I enjoyed getting reacquainted with these people once again. I liked Josie and her boyfriend Noah's relationship. We learn much about Josie's personal life and her relationship with her sister. Very good stuff! The story is both well written and plotted. I kept trying to think of something else the police could have done to find Lucy, but Ms. Regan has all the bases covered. I believe this may well be the best novel that Ms. Regan has penned yet.

Detective Josie Quinn is a series new to me but I don't think that I missed much coming in at book 6 (other than probably 5 cracking good reads) although, no doubt, the characters have developed over time. There were occasions when I wondered how something mentioned had happened but it didn't detract from this story.. Detective Josie Quinn is embroiled in an abduction of a young girl, Lucy Ross, even though Lucy was in full sight of her mother at the time. The parents are not quite all they seem and that adds to the mystery. Phone calls come in from, apparently, friends of the family, but chillingly turn out to be the abductor. Bodies mount up and it is clear that the abduction is not a straightforward case but one rather of revenge. Josie and her team frantically try to sort the puzzle before it is too late for Lucy. The characters are well written and the twists and turns keep the reader's attention long into the night. If earlier stories are as good as this one I'd be happy to go and read them too, as well as looking forward to more in the series. I've been a fan of this series ever since I read the first book about eighteen months ago. With each new meeting with Detective Josie Quinn, my love for this series is only reconfirmed all over again and each book brings the promise of yet another intense and suspenseful ride. Her Silent Cry is no exception to the rule, and already the sixth successful installment of this detective series. Want to know why?

First of all, the simple fact of being able to meet up with some of your favorite characters again is always a fantastic feeling. Josie Quinn and her team managed to win over my heart from the start, and with each new story it feels as if you are meeting up again with old friends. You can see their characters develop over time, the events of the different books leaving its mark on their characters as well as the dynamics between them. While it's true you can technically read Her Silent Cry as a stand-alone with only minor loss of background information, you will miss out on references to the past and might not fully get the dynamics between the different characters. And with the first five books all being thrilling and intense rides, there's no excuse not to catch up with the past before diving into the newest Detective Josie Quinn!

In Her Silent Cry you will find new developments relating to the personal life of Josie Quinn, and that part of the storyline definitely left me wanting for more! Josie, Noah, Gretchen and even Misty and Trinity play a role throughout the story, although the main focus is on the new case that started developing right under Josie's nose. It's a missing child this time around, and a case that turns out to be a lot more sinister and complicated than you might think when little Lucy first goes missing... The little chapters with nameless characters give you a hint, but you'll find yourself wondering how everything actually connects as you keep turning those pages and things are getting more and more critical. A fast pace is combined with a suspenseful and twisted plot filled with secrets and turns and together they will make the intensity level go through the roof. Josie Quinn and her team are finding themselves in a race against the clock, desperately trying to find Lucy alive and stop more people from getting hurt... But things are not that simple as certain people seem to be hiding crucial information that could potentially help them get Lucy back. As always, you might wonder about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot, but I myself was too busy flying through the pages and enjoying myself to really stand still by that. If you are a fan of intense and thrilling detective thrillers that pack a punch, you should definitely schedule yourself a meeting with Detective Josie Quinn soon!

I love the Detective Josie Quinn books and have read the previous five. In this 6th instalment seven year old Lucy Ross is abducted from the park with both her parents there. What follows is the investigation into why she was taken and the hunt to bring her back.
All of the regular characters are present and, although you could read without having read the previous, it’s best to read after reading the previous five. You will not be disappointed.
The storyline had me gripped and I like the personal life of Josie which you follow in each story as well.
I read this in a day and could of read it in one sitting given the opportunity.

This is book six in the crime thriller series, Detective Josie Quinn. Lisa Regan has, once again, gone above and beyond to create a piece that works well for both new and veteran fans. For those familiar with the series, the character arc that Regan has constructed for Josie Quinn can truly be appreciated in this book. She works her plot decisively, incorporating Josie’s personal conflicts into the story line at just the right moments as to not undermine the book’s primary plot. The twists and turns that Regan has developed are intriguing and thought-provoking. A hard book to put down. Great addition to the series. 5 stars.

Everyone knows you have to watch little children like a hawk because they disappear in the blink of an eye. But what if you are? And what if you’re sitting right next to them on a moving carousel? You wouldn’t think a child could disappear from a moving ride while you’re sitting next to them. But that’s exactly what happened to Amy. Her daughter Lucy is nowhere to be found when the ride comes to a stop.

Lisa Regan has Detective Josie Quinn back on a case in this sixth book in the series. Little Lucy Ross disappears from a moving carousel in Denton city park. Josie is right there to start the case, literally. Because seconds before going on the ride she spoke with Lucy’s parents.

After combing through the park it is quiet clear Lucy really is gone. And that’s where the Denton police department steps in. Lucy is at the helm of the team doing everything they can to find her and the person responsible.

The Ross family is jumping right in to help in any way they can. But something seems off, are they telling the truth? Amy, Lucy’s mother, seems to be holding back information and Josie has to dig deep to find out what or why. To make it all even more disturbing, calls from the kidnapper seem to originate from people connected to the Ross family. Like their babysitter, who turns up dead when they get to her house.

Lisa’s writing style transports me right into the fray of the search. I felt like I was right there alongside Josie trying to find Lucy. The whole story played out in my head like a movie. Which I think is what good books should do. Transport you to the world created and make you believe it’s real.

There was an instant connection with Josie, I love her way of working a case. As a detective, she’s not afraid to do what’s right for the case instead of her career. She’s not even afraid to ask for help from the FBI or stand up to her boss. She’s sassy all around! At the same time I had a lot of sympathy for the Ross family. The friction and agitation between them when Lucy stays missing for days is palpable. It made it all too real.

The plot has some great twists and turns. Meanwhile the story telling alternates between Josie / the case and someone else. For spoiler purposes I won’t say who. At the same time it turns out nothing is what it seems. It goes to show that no matter how well you hide it, your past can come back to haunt you.

The ending, while enjoyable, was a little far fetched for me. It is not your standard kidnapping and ransom ending which I liked. I’m just not sure if that type of resentment would warrant the kidnapping of a little girl. Then again, luckily I’m not a criminal mind with resentment issues so it might be totally “normal”…

Because I have not read any previous books in the Josie Quinn series I was curious if it was possible to read this as a stand alone book without having to much ‘interference’ from previous books . And it’s entirely possible to read it on it’s own! There were -of course- some mentions about past cases as well as pointers to history some characters have together.

As I made a deliberate choice to start this book without having read anything previous, I won’t hold that against it. It is entirely my ‘fault’. Besides, it’s not too prevalent and it doesn’t matter to the whole of this story so it’s not like you can’t read it without reading any other books first. With that said, I would love to read the other books too, because a) the mention of any history made me curious and b) this book is very good and I’d like to read more!

If you like strong female leads, plot twists and unexpected revelations and a good thriller & suspense story, you’ll like Detective Josie Quinn in Her Silent Cry.

For once Detective Josie Quinn is having some time off and has taken a friends young son to the park for a day out. The piece is soon shattered when a 7 year old girl goes missing, right from under her parents noses, in the same park.

Off duty or not Josie is soon directing operations to try to find the girl. Joined by her team, and a good proportion of the local community the search proves fruitless.

Against her boss’s best wishes Quinn calls in a specialist FBI team that specialise in investigating the abduction of children.

The FBI and Quinn’s team are at a loss to identify the abductor, until a phone call to the parents strikes fear to everybody’s hearts. Their demand, or lack of it, is chilling, and would be every parent’s nightmare.

Quinn has formed a good relationship with the family and the FBI begin to rely on this, but is she getting all the information she needs from them.

This is a cracking story.

One simple crime, an abduction, strikes fear into the community, but things start to get worse.

Lisa Regan has built a strong community of characters in this series. She uses their emotions and feelings to permutate through the story and build up the suspense.

Unlike most series any of these books can be read as a stand-alone. The reader will learn bits of the back stories of the main characters, without being left wondering what is going on.

The setting is perfect. A small City with plenty of isolated rural areas, which allows Regan to set parts of the book in a built up area, whilst having all the suspense of settings in remote country areas.

This book, and this series, ideal for fans of crime series written by the likes of Angela Marsons, Patricia Gibney, Carol Wyer and Graham Smith.

"Her Silent Cry" is a combination police procedural and thriller with a twisty plot. Police Detective Josie Quinn is at the park when seven-year-old Lucy Ross goes missing from the carousel ride. Lucy's mother doesn't seem to be telling the whole truth which makes the difficult case even harder. Josie brings her team and the FBI onto the case to find Lucy before it's too late.

This book is the sixth in the Detective Josie Quinn series. Even though it's the first book I've read by this author, I feel I learned enough about the main characters to enjoy the story. All of the main characters seem to have complicated, tragic backstories, so I'm sure there are some details I missed but it didn't lessen my enjoyment of this book. Most of the story is told from Josie's point of view, except for some occasional first person passages from the point of view of an unidentified person. Instead of helping to build suspense, I thought the passages just made the story harder to follow. Even with these "interruptions" to the main plot, there was plenty of tension in the story to keep my interest. It's not an easy read because of some of the things happening in the book, but it is fast-paced. Once I started reading it, I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next.

More secrets are revealed in each chapter and the plot takes several twists before the whole truth comes out. Some of Lucy's mother's actions didn't make sense, but like Josie I tried not to judge. I enjoyed the book and would definitely read new book in the series. I think those who have been following the series will really like it, as well as fan of Christina Dodd or Rick Mofina.

Detective Josie Quinn is at the park with her young charge, Harris, when a child disappears after a ride on the carousel. Lucy was there on a horse beside her mother Amy, and in the few seconds it took Amy to remove her harness, the child was gone. As the parents’ panic, Josie calls for back up and begins to seal the park. Searchers scour all areas of the park and there is no sign of 7-year-old Lucy to be found, and Josie begins to fear the worst.

As the police department builds a task force and pulls surveillance footage, along with researching Lucy’s parents for enemies that may have taken the child, Josie’s reporter twin, Trinity, helps in her own way with background research on the child’s parents, and the FBI is mobilized to assist. Then the first call comes in – from the babysitter’s phone – and she is found dead. Now the search into the parent’s past begins in earnest, as the kidnapper asks Lucy’s Mom, “how does it feel??”

Josie and her team are quick to learn that Lucy and her family had been stalked for a while before the child was grabbed. This book was an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter, and my most favorite Josie novel to date!! A great read!! I love Josie’s character and am enjoying watching her grow, along with her relationship with Noah. I already can’t wait for the next installment of the series!! Love, LOVE, LOVE this series!!

I just love, love our main character here Josie and Lisa Regan has given me another reason to love her more. With each story, Josie develops a little more and we see more into her and her heart. In this installment, we see another side to Josie and it's not missed.

Josie is on the race to find the kidnapper of a missing girl. Just how Lucy goes missing is chilling and unsettling but not in a graphic way. It's a real eye-opening and had me rethinking a few things when I am out and about. I highly recommend this series and this one for Josie lovers.

This series keeps getting better and better. The books are truly addictive and real page turners. Fast paced and you just get lost in the story. I lose track of time when I am reading them. I have no hesitation in recommending this book or the series as a whole. Just brilliant.

3.5 creepy kidnapping stars

This is book #6 and I do love Detective Josie Quinn. This one centers around a child kidnapping and kept me turning the pages. The kidnapping kicks off the book and happens right under the nose of her parents. Josie just happens to be at the park at the time and things go into high gear to find the missing child. The FBI get involved quickly and I enjoyed reading about how they investigate.

The parents are interesting characters, and neither is telling the full story, but both love their daughter Lucy and will do anything to get her back. The kidnapper is creepy and seems to know everything about Lucy, her family, and the small town. The tale is fast paced as bodies start piling up and they are no closer to finding Lucy.

I really enjoy the characters in this series, and I root for Josie to solve the case with her boyfriend Noah supporting her all the way. I didn’t find this to be the strongest book in the series, but definitely worth a read and I will keep reading this series to see what pickle Josie finds herself in next.

Her Silent Cry (Detective Josie Quinn Book 6) by Lisa Regan starts you off on the edge of your seat and doesn’t let go until the satisfying ending.

I had a difficult time putting this book down as there was never a dull moment and so much action and tension in each scene and on every page that I stayed up late to read or neglected chores during the day!

Her Silent Cry does not disappoint and is a great addition to the Josie Quinn series. The writing is excellent, and every interaction brings you right into the mix of drama and tension that unfolds.

The description of the scenery and events transport you into the action. The dialogue and characters are developed well and have you wanting to be a part of their inner circle.

I enjoyed this book and was sad it came to an end. I cannot wait for the next book by Lisa Regan. I highly recommend all of her books.

What a fantastic read! I was captivated from the first chapter. Josie Quinn is at her finest when undertaking the most intense case of her career. A suspenseful intense story dealing with a child abduction with consequences from the past. I was so engaged by this book, I did not want to stop reading, it was emotionally engaging and the ending was intriguing. I love this series by Lisa Regan, I am always anxiously awaiting each new installment. The storyline is fresh and interesting, never a dull moment in this series.

Josie Quinn you are my hero !!! 5 stars plus for this great read !!

I couldn't swipe the pages fast enough, I tried to put Her Silent Cry down and get some sleep; that didn't happen !!! Light was back on in 5 minutes , I just had to know what happened.

If I was ever in trouble either side of the law, I would call Josie Quinn and all the team.
