This gets a two stars from me because I did not finish. I never felt a pull to keep reading. I felt like there was some plot holes 40% in. I cannot recommend this book. I could see the environmentalist aspects in the book which I like in concept.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a free copy. This is an honest review.

I will start off by saying that if there is a second book I will gladly read it, but this book is one of those ones where the writer knows exactly what is going on with the world and characters, but forgets that the readers are not privy to the author's head. The first half of the book the characters felt flat, but the last half they begin to become characters and have dimension to them. My favorite character is Dassius because he is the one who develops the most throughout the novel.

4 out of 5 stars.

I keep reading a chapter of this at a time to try to convince myself that it might be better, it just isn’t working. The premise sounded like it had so much potential. I thought it would be a really interesting book with elements of so many other works that I love. However, for me this falls extremely flat. I have found the characters to be unremarkable and relatively indistinguishable from one another. It seems like every time I come back to a name, I have to go back and search to figure out who it was. No one really catches my attention or makes me want to know more about them. Even Ceera, who I found interesting at first, stayed kind of one-note for me. I find myself constantly feeling like I am missing something. I occasionally feel like I have skipped chapters at a time (especially at the beginning) and even go back to check, but haven’t skipped anything. . I have a sense that some of the explanation I need is somewhere in the authors head, and with this the novel would make more sense to me, but it never quite made it to the page. I feel like some of the descriptions can get a little too tied up in the world of the book, before that world is established enough for me to make sense of it. I do like some of the ideas of this world. I can tell the author has a lot of creativity and I think this book is a great attempt at something grand. However, I can’t really say I personally enjoyed it. It is not a bad book - I’m sure there are some readers out there for whom this works perfectly well. It just is not me.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Although I loved this cover and the start of the story this one ended up dying a horrible slow death. It started out pretty quickly but soon after the pacing died. It was so slow I found myself doing other things just so I didn't have to continue. I was hoping that by the end it was going to pick up but it never did. I wished that the pacing of this one was better but as it sits it just wasn't for me.

This was a fun and interesting read, the premise grabs you from the beginning and don't let go till the end. The characters are very well done and I he there's more to this world.

Immortal Roots had an interesting beginning that carried just enough action to keep the reader interested. But after the first chapter or so, things really slowed down to a crawl. All of the scientific talk and otherworldly-ness really threw me off, so I had a hard time enjoying it. It really was an interesting concept, but it was slow going.

The writing, on the other hand, was both gripping and boring at the same time. I’m not sure how anyone can pull that off, but that’s just how it was. While it carried a note of interest, the lack of showing in the text made it hard to really get into it. If it had more showing and less flowery words thrown in there for the sake of flowery words, it would have been much, much more interesting.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t read it. It was good. It just lacked a few things that would have made it better.

NOTE: I was given a copy of this book through NetGalley for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved it! The book takes you on an adventure as Ceera uncovers more about the past to preserve the future. Yet it carries a relevant message to today current issues. . Wonderfully written, keeps you guessing.

As I read the synopsis, Immortal Roots pulled me in with a promise of adventure, danger and secrets in the tradition of Lara Croft and Indiana Jones.
Sadly, it couldn't keep that promise all the way.

There were good things and there were things that just did not hold my attention. I was not pulled in by the characters and the secret, while something new, had not the hoped for impact on me.

This story was an okay read for me but sadly couldn't keep my interest all through the pages.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read this eARC.
