A nice study guide of the Gospel of Mark geared towards young adults. I'm certainly not a young adult but felt this would be a nice edition to have in my collection. I don't normally read too much nonfiction but found this fairly interesting and recommend it to other readers of all ages.

If you are a parent or person who works with young adults then this would be a great study to share with a your child or youth group.
I received a copy through Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

This is a great Bible study on the gospel of Mark and could be used by either an individual for personal study or for a small group. There was a lot of material, high quality points of discussion, and a reader friendly format that would be great for a first time group leader.

An excellent new study of the Gospel of Mark for young adults. This study is oriented for group participation, but the content is also relevant to the individual bible study.

John Perritt writes devotional sections that are concise and clear, which young adults will appreciate. And, the content does not preach or talk over the student, but engages them to actively participate in learning who Jesus is.

This workbook is a good addition to a series of Bible studies for young people. It is a twelve week study exploring themes from the gospel of Mark such as being understood and loved by Jesus, evil, faith, compassion, opposition to the Christian faith, the future, and more.

There is very little homework assigned between meetings, generally reading a chapter or two in Mark. That makes this a good study for students who don't have much time for extra study. There are great leader's notes making this a good study to be led by someone new to leading groups. There are suggested times given for meeting activities, such as reading material and discussing questions. A teen could use this book to confidently begin and lead the Bible study. It could be done as a one-to-one discipleship experience or in a small group setting.

I appreciated the way this study developed. It explored some issues that might be troubling to young people, such as Jesus' anger. It helps participants recognize the major elements of the gospel of Mark as well as getting to know Jesus better.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

John Merritt's new study guide for students, "Mark: How Jesus Changes Everything" promises to be a great 12-week Bible study for small groups. Merritt says we suffer from gospel amnesia, meaning, "We wake up every day, forgetting that we are loved and accepted by the God of all creation through the finished word of his beautiful Son, Jesus Christ." By looking back at the Gospel of Mark, students will be reminded again of Jesus' life and teachings and his death and resurrection--looking at the truth of the gospel and being reminded of their security and identity in Christ. This small group student helps students recapture the wonder of the gospel and live it out every day.

"Mark: How Jesus Changes Everything" is designed so that students read a couple of chapters in Mark each week before the group meets, then the group completes the lesson together. Each lesson contains:
- Big Idea - a summary of the main point of the lesson
- Bible Conversation - questions to spark discussion about the passage
- Article - the main teaching section of the lesson
- Discussion - questions to help students apply the teaching to their lives
- Exercise - a section students complete on their own
- Wrap-up and Prayer - encourages student to pray since transformation happens only through God's Word in them

This simply format provides students with powerful encounters with Jesus in God's Word. Not just a surface level study, students will be encouraged to dive deeper into God's Word and mine it for heart-level truths. I highly recommend it for students of all ages.

John Perritt's study of Mark is a detailed bible study with lots of helpful tools, materials, and researched information to help the student and teacher learn from the Gospel of Mark. Each lesson starts out with a big idea, and then moves into a bible conversation. Approximate discussion times for each section are listed to help keep the teacher on track.

After the lesson is an article to read and discuss as a group and then the final aspect of the lesson is an exercise where the practical part comes into play. The lesson concludes with wrap-up and prayer. There are twelve lessons in all to cover the sixteen chapters in the book of Mark and there is lots of great content and detail for high school and college-aged students to learn from and explore.

I would definitely recommend this for any teacher looking for new resources to teach this compact Gospel book.

I received this as an eBook from New Growth Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the title. I did not receive any compensation from either company. The opinions expressed herein are completely my own.
