This book was the first of this author that I had read, To me it was a little strange to read at first, and my feelings on this book are "its an ok read" I have read better books, I guess you could say I didn't like the ending, but then again it is a series book.

I have read other books by this author but this one didn’t live up to my expectations
The book was very slow and lacked tension. The ending was so predictable
The characters were not very nice and I couldn’t relate or attach to any of them
Hoping the next book will be better

The Sleepover is book number 4 in the DI Natalie Ward series by Carol Wyer. In The Sleepover Ms Wyer gives the reader a mystery with glimpses of Ms Ward's private life. Each of these stories are stand alone, but I find it much more satisfying knowing what has happened previously. I only wish Ms Wyer wrote faster as I'm always left wanting more and am eager for the next book. I was given an early copy to review.

Been following this series from the start and it just gets better and better. You have to feel for Natalie who is up against it at work with hard hitting cases and then trudging home to fight battles there with a family who are feuding their own issues. This time around its the teenage son Josh who is causing arguements by lounging around not looking for work having just finished school and exams, I guessed what was happing with this part of the storyline (a first for me with this author as I'm usually totally off course). In contrast I was as off course as usual with the crime case at one point even swaying between thinking it was multiple people each playing their own part or a group of people in it together. Can't wait for the next in the series it's about time we got introduced to "spud" it feels like Lucy's talked about spud for ages.
About the only thing I've stuck to through the series is that I still think Natalie's husband David is a hypercritical arse

I just love this series with DI Natalie Ward. Great police procedural with such realistic characters. I adore the banter between the team. The home life of Natalie is completely realistic with a wavering marriage and teenage children. A gripping story with so many suspects all with secrets. A great lead up to a brilliant put together ending. Can't wait for book 5.

An absolutely brilliant addictive read!!! I just hated putting it down to go to work!!
Teenage Roxy tells her mother Cathy that she's having a sleepover at her friend and neighbour Ellie's house. Cathy is happy to let her go as the two girls are always at each other's houses.
Little does Cathy know that was the last time she would see Roxy alive!! Roxy was found dead that night in a house the other side of town that had been set on fire.
There is no apparent connection between Roxy or her family and the owners of the house who also own a nightclub.
So the nightmare begins!!! Read on. I promise you won't be disappointed!!
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc.

The DI Natalie Ward series continues in great form with The Sleepover. The body of young teenage rebel Roxy is found in a burnt out house in an affluent part of town. Roxy has no connection to the owners, Kirk and Gavin Lang. The Lang brothers own the local nightclub and aren't exactly popular with their neighbours. Natalie has her work cut out for her with this case. Why was Roxy in the house, was she alone and did she start the fire? Why are the Langs seemingly so unconcerned? A subsequent murder further complicates the case. DI Ward and her team are tasked with solving a multi layered and complex case. Thank you Netgalley for my advance copy.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This one was my favourite one to date. I was hooked from the first page. This was fast paced and thrilling. I thought I had it, and I was wrong.

Carol Wyer does a good job of writing her characters. I really hated the brothers who owned the house. I felt sympathy for a lot of the characters. And I like how we get parts of Natalie’s life. It makes her more human and relatable.

Looking forward to the next book in the series!

The Sleepover is Book 5 in the Detective Natalie Ward series by Carol Wyer.

"A teenage girl is found dead in a house fire. No one knows how she came to be in the house...or at least no one is telling Natalie and her team what they know. After two more people die Natalie's team struggles to find a killer before more people die."

This is a police procedural from Wyer. The team works the evidence. And interrogates everybody. Wyer does a good job disguising the killer - you won't really know until she tells you.

There are a side stories with Natalie's family - her husband's gambling addiction and her son's drug use. Wyer continues to bring changes to Natalie - always nice to see characters change and grow.

Another nice book from Wyer. If you're a fan of British crime fiction, you'll want to read this one.

I found this book twisty and gripping but I did not find any of the non police characters at all likeable. Usually I find myself thinking "I hope that he/she is not the villain of the piece" or even if we know the villain at the start i can admire their ingenuity but not their deeds but i would read more of this authors books.

When Cathy has a fall out with her teenage daughter Roxy over a boy, little does she realise that when Roxy says she is going to her best friends house for a sleepover she is lying. That will be the last time she will see her daughter alive!!

The investigation into who killed Roxy has many suspects including the two brothers who owned the house that Roxy was discovered in, they also own a nightclub and are very evasive.

There are a number of suspects and everybody appears to be lying, this is not a straight forward case and will keep you guessing.

This is one of my favourite crime series. D.I Natalie Ward is a strong character trying to desperately balance family life with work. The team she works with are like family and the more we get to know about their personal lives the more this series comes to life. They just get better and better!!!

A must read that is very hard to put down, once you’ve read the first book in the series you will want to read the rest.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

TEN STARS FOR ME !! Couldn't put The Sleepover down. I had to know the culprit !!!

I loved every page of The Sleepover.

I am a big fan of Carol Wyer and Detective Natalie Ward and her team.

I had to put my thinking cap on for this book.

Secrets and lies !!!

I love all the characters, some are strong, some not so much. You also get involved in Natalie's home life. Can't wait to see what happens there.

It might be Book 4 but you could read it independently but I advise start at the beginning.

Cant wait til December 6, 2019 and the next book in the series.

Thanks to Net Galley and Bookouture for allowing me to follow Natalie in The Sleepover.

Her mother has no cause for concern but that’s a decision she comes to regret as the next day Roxy’s body is found. Natalie’s team are brought in to investigate but then more bodies are found. This book will draw you in from the first chapter and keep you entertained to the very end.

The Sleepover by Carol Wyer is the 4th in the Detective Natalie Ward series and it seems to get better and better.
Fourteen-year-old Roxy tells her mum that she is going to her friend Ellie for a Sleep over. Her mother doesn’t think much of it as she has done it previously. But the next day she her charred remains are found in burnt out house, that two brothers own that she doesn’t even know.
Detective Natalie Ward oversees the investigation. When she breaks the news to Roxy’s family, they can’t understand why she would be in the house that is owned by two brothers that own the local club ‘Extravaganza’. The two brothers are not well liked in the community as the club is linked to drugs and prostitution. Natalie has her work cut out as she interviews each person. She senses that people are not entirely telling the truth. Especially the two brothers. They are not overly concerned that their house burnt down and a body found at the house. Then the body of Roxy’s mothers is found drowned, Natalie Ward wonders what the heck is going on.
The story also concludes the story of Natalie’s family especially her husband David. After what happened with the gambling, she doesn’t know if she can trust him again and the space between them widens.
Ms Wyer has down it again with this instalment of Natalie Ward series. This is another unputdownable episode. With great characters, and original plot. This time a more challenging read to find out who the killer is. I love also that the author mixes her work side and her personal life so, you can see the two sides of the main character. Can’t wait for the next instalment in the series.

This story is about Roxy's death. She was supposed to be at her best friends for a sleepover so how was her body found in a burned down house that is seemingly unconnected to her family and friends. This book was decently written and had a great story line. The characters were well developed and believable. The book captured and held my interest sufficiently as well. The reason it lost stars for me was i found that the interrogations and discussion about perps/motives to become very repetitive, the characters summarize their theories over and over and it becomes somewhat monotonous. The other issue i found was the story was slightly dragged out, if the repetitive nature was removed it would have shortened the book and make the plot flow faster and more suspenseful. I also found the end somewhat anticlimactic. Overall it was a decent read just a little long winded, the story/plot itself was well done though.
