Asia has just celebrated her 45th birthday. She has what looks like the perfect life: loving husband, nice home, two children in college, successful career and money in the bank. But turning 45 has made Asia realize that she is missing something . During a girls trip to the Dominican Republic she has an encounter with a stranger that leaves her with confirmation that she needs to make some life changes. The story that follows is one that I could not put down.

I’ve been a long time fan of Reshonda Tate Billingsley. I have read almost all of her books, and this is her 50th. It is also her best. I inhaled this book in one sitting. I literally could not put it down. Her character definition and pacing makes the reader want to skip any and all plans for the day just to finish this book. This is not a cookie-cutter formula book. Its plot twists are simply amazing. I wish that I could write like this. As always I will be looking forward to miss Billingsley‘s next novel.

I read “My Brother’s Keeper” when it first was published and I have followed the author since. This book was good, it did drag in some places and sometimes it was hard to follow. This would be a good book club choice as it would be interesting to see what others received from the book. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.

How many times have you thought about throwing the life you have now out and starting over? How many times have wanted to step out on faith, but fear and failure caused you to stand still? How many times have you sacrificed your happiness for others? These and more questions are answered in More to Life. In More to Life, we pick up years later with Charles and Aja Clayton. They have the "perfect" life, but something is missing. Aja does not know what is missing, but she is determined to find out. More to Life is by far one of Ms. ReShonda Tate Billingsley's books that speaks to the every day woman's soul. You do not have to be married, have children, or work in order for this book to speak to our soul. You just have to be 6 feet above the ground and breathing. BRAVO Ms. Billingsley. This book would make a good television movie. I recommend Ms. Nia Long as Aja and Mr. Dondre Whitfield as Charles.

I really thought that the book had promise in the beginning but as the story went on I became lost. I understood that Aja was looking for more of an purpose than just being a mother and wife, which I’m sure she could’ve explored without the drastic changes. Maybe because it was hard for her to explain what she needed and why throughout the book was why I drew a blank... I really do think that to get a better understanding that it’s a must to read the previous book My Brother’s Keeper I think that book played a role in why Aja felt she lost herself. Charles to me was great I really couldn’t find any fault in him which was also a frustrating part of the story for me. I loved AjA’s friend circle, I think they were amazing and exemplified a great balance of what true friends should be I loved their role in the book.
Overall is was a fairly good read and I would love to read other books by this author.

I took a break from my thrillers and picked up a book called #moretolife by @reshondatatebillingsley. I was really surprised by how engaging it was. The story (no spoilers, here) was about a woman feeling what I like to call a stirring. After 20 years of the perfect marriage to the perfect husband with grown, perfect kids, she just felt like she was missing something. She realized that she had spent the last 20 years pouring her heart, soul, time, and energy in to creating all of the perfectness that she didn't really know who she was anymore. She didn't have time for the things that made her feel alive because she had pushed them away for so many years.

This book is a really good one for a book club. I think that it's a great conversation starter because I think there will be readers who feel so validated when reading More to Life. And, there will be readers who disagree with the path Aja takes to find her own happiness. Regardless, I think most readers will agree that they can identify, relate, and find strength in Aja's story.

More to Life got 4 stars from me. It was a quick read with a "just like us," main character and a different plot than I think most people are used to reading.

I also really appreciated the afterward written by the author. I think this book really meant a lot to her to write. And, I'm not sure she realizes how many ripples in many lives it will inspire and fill with hope. Maybe that's why I loved it so much. The main character was believable, honest, and a friend we all need.

Thanks to @kensingtonbooks for helping me get a hold of this book to read, review, and love. Also, more love to @netgalley for arranging the introduction to @kensingtonbooks and its wonderful writers. Thanks for this book, @reshondatatebillingsley. I was really inspired by Aja and all that she overcame to love and accept herself just as she was. I am also inspired by YOUR Aja story. Cheers to grit, grace, and dreams.

Cute little book! I found myself chuckling numerous times when she described the whining children and husband. I felt like this was a good story portraying how hard it can be to be a mother and wife and give up your dreams to make your family happy. Sometimes once we make choices, unexpected things happen to get in the way, but this lady stuck to her guts and followed her dreams!
