I have enjoyed this series by Janet Dailey and this book is no exception. I loved the suspenseful storyline and the way the author kept expanding and throwing in twists and turns to the story. The main character was a strong woman who knew what she wanted in her life and she faced sadness and adversity with a strong fortitude and perseverance. I am not sure if this is the last book in the series, but if it is then this storyline was a great way to wrap up the series.

From the moment Luke Maddox sets eyes on Erin Tyler, he can think of nothing else but laying claim to Rimrock’s reigning beauty. But Erin is his boss’s daughter, and Luke knows Will Tyler has bigger plans for Erin’s future than a rough and tumble ranch hand with a brutal history and a talent for breaking hearts. Still, that can’t stop Luke from wanting her …As Rimrock Ranch’s heir apparent, Erin Tyler is expected to do the right thing, marry the right man, and take the reins of her family’s legacy when the time comes. Which is why she’s completely shaken by her attraction to her father’s latest hire. There’s something about the rugged, solitary stranger that calls to her soul. Is restless, independent Erin just feeling the familiar pull of her rebellious heart? Or is there something real happening between her and Luke? Something worth risking everything for …
This was a pretty good story. I liked both main characters. The book was well written. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I loved the details about Texas and the characters. The book started out very slow but picked up in the middle. Erin confused me a few times, keeping stupid secrets that made no sense. This is a great Texas romance

When Erin sees the rugged Luke, her dad's latest hire, her heart skips a beat. The problem is she is expected to marry power to continue her legacy. Will she follow her heart or ignore her feelings to keep the legacy alive? Janet Dailey has always been brilliant at her Western set stories and this is no exception. With a Texas size setting and characters you love to love, this is a perfect picture of what ranch life and what love can do to person.

Thanks to Kensington for the ARC. All opinions are mine alone.

Erin Tyler is heir to the family ranch. A drought has her home in its grip. Luke Maddox is a farrier who's coming to work on the ranch. He's learned not to mess with the boss's women. The recent death of the man who was like her grandfather has her investigating. Danger is all round the ranch. Can Luke ignore the pull he has for Erin? Can Erin save the ranch? Who is next to be in danger's cross
hairs?

The Tylers are grieving the loss of their wife/mother, when word is received that another member of the family has died. Erin has taken over a lot of the responsibilities of the ranch from her father. A drought has the ranch in dire straights with a large payment due. A marriage proposal has her wondering if she's ready to make a commitment and if she loves her boyfriend. When her father announces that he's hired a farrier to get the horses in shape for the coming roundup and possible sale, Erin isn't happy about it because she knows they really can't afford it. An old family friend comes home for the funeral along with other family. As they prepare for the funeral of their oldest friend, Luke Maddox shows up to start work and clashes with Erin. They're immediately attracted to each other complicating her decision about the marriage proposal from her boyfriend. Luke tries to stay away from the boss's daughter because of past experiences on other jobs. When he begins to start seeing Erin's courage and that she's not the spoiled rich girl he thought its harder to stay away. He goes with her to investigate the recent death and they find a footprint. A woman from the Tyler's past has been hiding out in the area. Erin & Luke get more suspicions when they find the same boot print near the horses pen. She goes to the local sheriff with her suspicions, with no help. Erin tries to break up with her boyfriend, but he doesn't take her seriously. Erin's life is in danger from a past association and from when her ex-boyfriend makes a move. The more time Erin and Luke spend together the more involved they become. Luke and Erin decide that they want to start dating only to be forbidden by her father. He goes and yells at Luke before heading to town. Erin's father goes to the bank and tries to get more time on the loan with no success and while returning home is shot. Erin inherits the ranch and comes to realize how much trouble they're in. Luke leaves to protect Erin from backlash from her father. Hearing about the shooting he turns around and is brought in as a suspect in her father's murder. She knows that Luke didn't do it but can't help him or it'll make him look more guilty. His lawyer and Erin take a road trip to prove Luke's alibi. Her ex-boyfriend tries to get back into her life because of the tragedy. Erin refuses and goes to the bank and relies on an old family friend for advice. A trip to another town results in an accident. The surprise gift from a loved one is the answer to their problems. A neighbor's anger and jealousy are to blame and murderers are caught. An old family friend moves back to the area, and family is kept close. Another generation of the Tyler/Maddox family will continue the legacy.

Janet Dailey's continuation of the Tylers of Texas series brings us to the present with the story of Erin Tyler and Luke Maddox who despite their differences and problems come together to save a ranch and each other's lives. Erin's life is in danger from the start whether its someone trying to take over her family ranch, or a too possessive boyfriend who's being pushed by his abusive father. Too many losses must be faced by theses two. A surprising death. And a woman determined to save the family's legacy. Texas Free ties up the Tylers and moves into the Maddox family with a marriage and child, so that the legacy can continue. Janet Dailey is always a great read no matter when her cowboy books are set. I've been a fan for years and will continue to be for a long time.

Janet Dailey's books are classified as romance, but the genre does not fit well. Her books always tell a story that includes a romance but are so much more. This is the next chapter in the saga of the Texas Tylers, but you would not know it wasn't a stand alone until you saw the list of books by Janet.
It's an excellent example of life on a ranch, many people all working hard to keep a huge operation running smoothly. This includes a new hire, a farrier, who has a back story that guarantees trouble when he first sees the boss's daughter. As the story unwinds, there is plenty of drama and adventure thrown in, and of course, a little romance.
If you've never read a Janet Dailey book, this one is an excellent place to start. Just be prepared to add her catalogue of titles to your must read list.

I've been a big fan of Dailey's for awhile but started this series about half way through. It spans generations of the Tyler family but written so that each can be read as a standalone. The author does a wonderful job filling gaps or refreshing the reader's memory of events. This one has a lot going on, about thirty years after the previous book, with a murder, prowler and young hormones. At first I did not really like Will, current owner of the ranch and father to Erin, he seemed too rough and not cordial enough. Eventually I warmed up to his big gruff personality thanks to Rose and her ways of calming things down. These books could easily be a movie because there's something for everybody. Clues are left in the story that could help a reader figure things out but there were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I received my copy through Netgalley and wrote my review voluntarily.

What a great book! It was not only a Texas romance, but had mystery, intrigue, murder, heartache and passion all rolled into one great story. Western romances are my favorite, and Janet Dailey did not disappoint me. This book was very well written with good details, characters, and a firm storyline. This is Erin and Luke’s story. Erin is the daughter of a rancher, and Luke is a farrier that was just hired on their ranch. They have an instant attraction, but other issues get in the way. Ranch issues, death in the family, and their age differences are all part of the complex situation they are in. This story had some real moments of sadness as a few of our beloved characters in this series die. The mystery of what is going on and who is involved was a terrific twist to the whole story as there is danger following several family members. I applaud Janet Dailey for another great story and look forward to reading more from this terrific author.
I was given an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest review.

This is a great Western Romance in typical Janet Dailey style. Erin Tyler is the boss’s daughter on a big Western ranch. She is only interested in filling her father’s boots on the ranch Luke Maddox is hired on as a farrier. There is pretty immediate attraction on both sides but the boss is not on board with the idea. Meanwhile there’s someone out there shooting at people.

This one keeps you guessing about the characters in the story and their involvement in what is taking place. This is one of those stories you don’t want to put down until you figure it all out.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This is the sixth book in the Tyler’s of Texas series. The setting takes place on a Texas ranch and has an engaging storyline with realistic characters. Erin and Luke are brought together when Luke is hired to work on Erin’s family ranch. There is suspense, romance and many twist and turns to this story.

Luke is not the type of man Erin ever thought she would fall for but yet she can’t seem to stop her heart from caring about Luke. Luke is not the settling down type but when it comes to Erin, everything changes for Luke. Luke immediately jumps in to help Erin and keep her safe. He is protective and caring and loses his heart along the way. Janet Daily knows how to write characters that are easy to connect with and and a story that keeps me wanting to read more.

Slow start but with good details. Details of the land and the families and how they fit. The main characters were good and had an excellent cast of supporting people too.
After the slow start, the book does start to pick up at about 33% or so on my kindle. When this story took off it really did. I'm glad that I stuck with it because things really got interesting and with a whole lot of action. Then it begin to really keep me riveted to the story.
I enjoyed the quiet romance between Erin and Luke. People and situations kept trying to get in the way. But after they climb over all of that there is a H.E.A. headed their way. I know that might have given part of the story away. But you really don't know how all of that was worked out, now do you?

I had to shake my head over Erin a time or two. The things that she is keeping secret so that it doesn't overload her father. I get it but still it's a dumb move. Almost guaranteed to come back and bite her in the butt. Of course, her father hasn't exactly been totally upfront with some important things either.
I do give Erin credit for being knowledgeable when it comes to the ranch and her love for breeding and training her horses.
There is some irony when it comes to who the "trigger" is in this story. But there is also a whole lot more danger hanging around this family. And responsibility after responsibility keeps coming down on Erin's shoulders all at once. Good thing that she comes from tough stock and was raised to be that way no matter what. She's going to need every ounce of that.

Erin is all grown up and falls in love pretty fast in this book, but the story is believable. I have loved this series from the beginning, and this one might be my favorite of the series. It has a little bit of everything: love, passion, revenge, murder, and one shock that you won't believe. Definitely a tear jerker.
A best friend lost, the glue that everyone relies on to keep them together and things will never be the same. The rimrock is hemorraging due to a draught, taxes and loans. When Will realizes that he needs to let Erin take over the Rimrock, it comes at a price. Erin has a target on her back. What happens in the culmination is breath taking.
Excellent book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Now I remember why I loved Janet Dailey so much when I was in high school. I used to haunt the public library, scouring the shelves for her books, and was always on cloud nine when I discovered one that I hadn't read yet. Her writing is superb, and her love stories are top-notch.

It is not often that I can read a novel from cover to cover. But Janet Dailey succeeded in doing that for me again.

I don't remember reading this particular title; though it is a reissue (The author passed away in 2013, sadly.). I loved the main characters and how their feelings for each other developed. Romance at its best! There is also mystery and suspense.

For those looking for a good clean read, please be aware that there are some brief scenes,

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC. This is my honest review.

Luke starts work for Will Traynor, when he sees the bosses daughter he falls hard. But, he has a rough past and she's hands off. Things start happening around the ranch.
While I enjoyed most of the book, some direction the author took were very upsetting to me. Having read all the previous books in series I was invested in the characters.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

The book was quite lengthy and lots of side characters and their drama, several plot lines involving the Luke and Erin and then characters who were tied to more than a few people, so it takes a while to get into the story. I prefer books with a little less description but there was also more depth of character for each person.

There is a bit do mystery when you find out what happened to Jasper and even another death, I was kind of shocked as I did not see it coming. So, lots of drama, intrigue, mystery, and romance.

I loved at the end that the multiple "bad guys" kind of got some comeuppance, - I like to see when the evil person gets what they deserve!

The only negative, beyond the story being so long and drawn out, is a bit an "ick" factor for me when you have a nineteen year old woman and a thirty year old man as the couple. I know that girls mature faster than guys but did there have to be such a big age gap for them?

Fans of suspense romance- is he a good guy or not- might enjoy this one. Erin is 19 and facing a huge deal with Rimrock, her family's ranch. There's debt and drought and other problems. Her father Will hires Luke, a mysterious man with a past as a farrier and very quickly, sparks fly between them. Then, horribly, Erin's father Will is murdered and Luke is a suspect. Is he a bad guy? Wait, who is shadowing Erin? This is a nicely written quick read that I read as a standalone- and that was fine. I think I would have liked this more if Erin was a little older- in her twenties- vice still being a teen. I'm also curious who is writing this series as Dailey has been deceased for a number of years. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Good to while away an afternoon.
