These stories were delightful and really get you in the spirit for the autumnal season. I felt like these novellas are perfect if you are a fan of short stories.

This is an anthology of 3 romance novellas that center around Halloween and fall, so you know I was all in on this one!

Each story takes place in small town Maine, and they are all very loosely linked. For instance, the bakeshop featured in the first story makes appearances in the others as well, which was a nice nod. The stories were all long enough (right around 100 pages or so) that they felt fully developed. The characters were fun, the romance was magical, and the setting was fantastic. I will also note that for the most part, I am NOT a fan of short stories, but these definitely read more as novellas, so don’t let that deter you if you’re like me.

I absolutely enjoyed my time with this one, as well as last year’s release The Cottage on Pumpkin and Vine which also takes place in the same town. I highly recommend these books to all fans of romance and fall! I am fervently hoping that this trend will keep up, and we see another fall anthology next year out of Moonbright, Maine! Also… props for the best book covers ever.

This is a review for Sweet magic part of this anthology.
Stories about cooking/baking are some of my favorites and I knew I was in for a treat with this novella by Donna Kauffman. I instantly fell in love with Moonbright and Bellaluna's Bakeshop. Family traditions or histories can be so powerful and influence our actions and both Bree and Caleb felt the pull to do the right by their families. This story reminds you that you should listen to your heart and follow the magic to your happily ever after, even if there are obstacles in your way. Full of humor, touching moments and a little heat, it's a quick read to start your fall season. Usually holiday books are my favorite, but this story has led to a new love of fall themed stories.

Such a sweet story by Donna Kauffman. I loved the setting and the "magic" that was woven throughout this novella. The author sure knows how to tell a story and write characters that are full of life, love, and family. I really enjoyed the read as this story is fun and delicious!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

One or my favorite authors. Donna Kaufmann creates a little world for her books that you can step into and enjoy. I miss her and her writing and highly recommend her books.

This is a review for Sweet Magic by Donna Kauffman. This is a story that is about a charming little town where everybody seems to fall in love at a bakery. The bakery is run by a grandmother, Sofia, and her granddaughter Bree. There is also a family trait to wear their cookies and baked goods tend to have a little magic in them. The granddaughter Bree has been unable to put a little magic in her cookies to where she could find her perfect true love. But then a person named Caleb, who is a chef at a family business, walks into the bakery and eats one of her cookies. When he instantly takes a bite of the cookie he loves it. It is honestly one of the cutest cases of love at first sight and bite. I loved this story and hope we get to read more about this family in future books! I was given an advanced reader copy for an honest review.

The Bakeshop at Pumpkin and Spice by Donna Kauffman, Kate Angell, and Allyson Charles is the second book in the contemporary romance Moonbright, Maine series. The Moonbright, Maine series is like other romances in which the books can be read as a standalone or in any other with differing characters. However, there is a twist to this series in which the books are actually three different novella length tales in each so now with book two we are up to six different stories in the two books combined all set in Moonbright, Maine tying them together.

The three different stories in here are Sweet Magic by Donna Kauffman, Love Spells Disaster by Allyson Charles and Sweet On You by Kate Angell. All three are feel good romances in which the three lead ladies are looking for love. The stories are all set at Halloween with plenty of holiday spirit in each. While I really enjoyed the stories I had my usual short story complaint of wishing there were more to each. I felt as if as soon as I was invested it would move onto the next and I found myself wishing for more depth which I often do with novellas. I finished this one with a rating of three and a half stars and I would recommend them especially if you are a fan of shorter reads.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Super cute book that is easy to read. This is a book you can just sit back and enjoy the story. You don’t have to really think about anything.

This is a book I would read again only in October to get me into the holiday spirit. The stories were fun and light, but also simple and predictable. Nothing remarkable about the plot, prose, and protagonists.

So far I have read Donna Kauffman's entry in this book. I really enjoyed it. Bree has waited a very long time for her magic to come alive. She is trying to be patient, but she is also trying to help things along a little bit. In walks Caleb and everything changes. But you know how it is when you have been waiting for something and it finally arrives? Bree freaks out and backs off. Her magic won't let her stay away from Caleb, though, and she shows up just when he needs her help. They have a very insightful conversation that lets us see into their hearts. I love how they talk to one another with respect but still tease each other a bit, too. I find that very romantic. They make a lovely couple!

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

A cute and enjoyable trio of novellas. Perfect for the fall. A little bit of magic, delicious bake goods, and sweet romances makes for a perfect read!

This is a collection of three stories and I only liked one of them.

SWEET MAGIC by Donna Kauffman: 1 star
- Bree is 'not like other girls', she doesn't have to watch her weight or wear makeup to be pretty. I literally read three pages and wanted to DNF. I skimmed through the rest of the story and it was just as cringy.

LOVE SPELLS DISASTER by Allyson Charles: 4 stars
- This one was genuinely cute! I'd be interested to see this story as a full-length novel so some parts could be more fleshed out, but I really loved Chip and Cassie's interactions!

SWEET ON YOU by Kate Angell: 1 star
- The writing style of this one was terrible. It was so choppy and it was very much a 'tell, don't show' story.

The Bakeshop at Pumpkin and Spice was a wonderful read. I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. I love reading books like this. I recommend it to others if you enjoy these types of books.

I really enjoyed this book! It's 3 novellas with romance, holiday spirit (Halloween), and some magic for good measure. They are all quick, fun reads, it was a great way to spend an afternoon. I especially liked the first book, Sweet Magic, about a bakery that serves a very special cookie.

Thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, I just could not get into this book. I didn't find it to be overly atmospheric like I was hoping and instead focused on the cringe-worthy and predictable romance. I just don't get much enjoyment from these types of stories anymore.

THE BAKESHOP AT PUMPKIN AND SPICE is an anthology that has three short stories by three authors that I’ve enjoyed reading books from before – Donna Kauffman, Allyson Charles, and Kate Angell (who happens to be one of my favorite authors). The stories take place in Moonbright, Maine at Halloween. Books are not often set at this time of year, and the three stories are filled with lots of magic! If you’ve read the anthology, THE COTTAGE ON PUMPKIN AND VINE, you’ll be returning to Moonbright and meeting up with some of the characters and businesses we’ve met before. I do hope there will be more books set in this magical town!

SWEET MAGIC by Donna Kauffman

SWEET MAGIC only whet my appetite for more as we’re introduced to Bree and her grandmother, both of whom own Bellaluna’s Bakeshop. It’s family owned and run, and there’s a lot of magic in the story—and not only because of the scrumptious goodies they bake. I could smell the delicious aromas of the items they had for sale as I engrossed myself in this book. The bakeshop plays an important role in all three stories and I couldn’t wait to see how its magic would work.

Caleb Dimitriou comes to town from Philadelphia to keep his uncle’s restaurant open while his aunt and uncle go on a very belated honeymoon. But all is not as it seems with his aunt and uncle or their business. He and Bree cross paths at the bakery, and there’s magic in the air, or is it in the cookies? As they seem to have an immediate connection, they both keep trying to fight their attraction and throughout most of the story take one step forward and two or three back. When Caleb’s sister comes to Moonbright to help out at the restaurant, she tries to keep him grounded as well as give him some advice on the dating front.

The story flows nicely, and we learn about the characters and their families a little at a time. We also learn about their dreams and how important their families are to each of them. There’s closure with a nicely executed happily ever after, and the epilogue was the icing on the cake. I liked that there was a cookie recipe at the back of the story.

I’ve previously read only two of Ms. Kauffman’s books. One was part of a Christmas anthology and the other was the first book in one of her series. I definitely will be adding more of her books to my always growing TBR pile.

LOVE SPELLS DISASTER by Allyson Charles

LOVE SPELLS DISASTER has Cassie thinking her boss is her soulmate, but he only sees her as a good employee at his insurance company. They have nothing in common, something handyman Chip, whom she meets at work when he comes in as a client, keeps telling her, especially since he himself is attracted to her. Chip keeps surprising her at every turn. As their paths continue to cross, Chip finds himself even more attracted to her. Cassie doesn’t know what to think. Once again there is magic in a cookie in a particular bake shop.

Cassie has haunted house ideas that Chip builds, and their interactions draw them closer. But Cassie tries to fight her feelings. There is nice closure but the ending didn’t go far enough for me. The epilogue takes place at the Halloween parade, and there is a cookie recipe at the back of the story.

I’ve only read one of Ms. Charles’s stories before, and it was part of a Christmas anthology. I do look forward to reading more of her books.

SWEET ON YOU by Kate Angell

SWEET ON YOU was a fun read once I got past Lara’s not very nice ex and his new girlfriend. Both left a lot to be desired and were not characters I could warm to.

Lara is decidedly down on her luck when other things in her life also get derailed. But when her path crosses with Jack at the bakery, there’s magic in the air. That happenstance meeting sets things in motion to turn Lara’s life around and maybe even give her a shot at love. It was all things Halloween in this story, and there’s so much good to be found. The Halloween nicknames Edna bestows on everyone are delightful, and we learn more about her. Both the cottage and Grace, the costume shop owner, are a part of this story as well. The story ends happily though I wish we could have been privy to some of the romance that led up to it since it happened off the page. Once again there is a cookie recipe at the back of the story.

Ms. Angell is one of my favorite authors, and this is different from the contemporary romances she normally writes with baseball and the beach at their core. I’ve now read several of her stories included in anthologies and hope to read more of them in the future, especially if we get to return to Moonbright over and over again!
