Great story for Halloween.

A great story for a rainy, gloomy night. Pulley created some truly believable characters and the storylines surrounding the house are so interesting. Reading this book, reminds me that the history behind a house is just as important as the foundation in which it is built.

The perfect Fall read! Soooo creepy! This book was creeptastic from the very first page to the last. I really like nothing better than a story about an old, creepy house. So I was instantly drawn into this the second I started it.

Your realtor takes you into a home...it has lovely things written on the walls like Murder House, Dead Girl...you get the picture...drug paraphernalia spread about. Sure we will take it since the price is right. Whatttt? That is exactly what The Spielman's did.

Things start going bump in the night, weird images showing up on their cameras. Yeah..nope! As they unearth the house's extensive history it became even more intriguing. The house had a history of three different families throughout the decades. Oh what a history it was.

This seriously gave me the "look over my shoulder" uneasy feel as I read it. What even made it better was the author's note at the back of the book. Don't peek!! This was a fantastic way to kick off my fall creepy reads. What took me so long to read this?! This book seriously got lost in the shuffle and I regret not reading it sooner!

I loved reading this book. And if I had had the time to read this in one sitting, then I most certainly would have done. Chilling, spooky, and mind-bending, this book had me hooked from the beginning. I'm not normally scared by books and don't have much time for horror stories yet, this book from Pulley was brilliant.

I live in a really old house and it is easy to believe that such houses retain the sense of past occupants. Luckily, my house seems warm and friendly, like many people have lived and loved here. Not so Rawlingswood, the house at the heart of NO ONE'S HOME. there are definitely sinister characters on the loose. and no, the story doesn't have quite the same elegance as THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, it is still a heck of a ghost story in it's own right. I thoroughly enjoyed it - except when I tried reading it before bed - not recommended - daytime reading only!

If you are looking for a haunted house tale, this story does not fit the bill. This is more of a psychological tale of a house that has seen its share of tragedies over a century. Chapters skip around from different time periods that may be disconcerting to some. The book reaches its stride in the middle so it may be worth hanging in there for some readers. for those looking for the supernatural though, you may want to look elsewhere.

I just could not get into this book. It goes back and forth in time periods and it was hard to follow..

No One's Home is absolute fantastic haunted house book. This is a must read and but for the holidays. Well written and interesting characters.

Absolutely loved this!! I didn find it difficult to keep up.with all the different families but it was worth it. All made sence in the end. Highly recommend

This was an enjoyable read about a haunted house. This was perfect for a Halloween read. I was captivated from page one and had a hard time putting it down. If you like to be spooked, then this is for you.

One of my new favorite haunted house books!! I love that the stories of different times were told simultaneously. I can't think of any other historical fiction/horror books that I have read. I had never heard of the Shakers before so to learn something new is always awesome. I appreciate the realistic dark topics such as the sexual abuse of children in a foster care situation, the surgeon father who in trying to make up for not being able to save his daughter he inadvertently causes the death of one of his patients. (That and his opiate addiction didn't help) The misunderstood (possibly dangerous) man who will always be child-like but due to disability is unable to express himself properly. Crooked police. Very well constructed characters for this story. It made you care about what was happening to them.

I loved the unique setting of this novel - it centers around 4 different families that lived in the same mansion in Shaker Heights over the last hundred years. The chapters alternate between the different stories of these families as well as the current house occupants. As an aside - reminds me of the current CBS All Access series, Why Women Kill, which also shows occupants of the same house in different time periods.

The Spielman's are the current residents - they moved to Ohio from Massachusetts for a fresh start away from a scandal. The house, named Rawlingswood, is huge but been empty and sorely neglected, so the family is able to buy it cheaply. The Spielman's then undertake a major renovation - but is it enough to scrub the former residents from the house? Their teenage son, Hunter, is not happy with the move away from his friends. He starts discovering more of the history of the house along with the feeling that they are not alone.

I loved this book - a good ghost story about confronting the past in order to move on.

So creepy and atmospheric! I loved everything about this book, it all worked so well and I couldn't put it down. I am always a fan of a haunted house story so I knew I would like this but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I did. The execution was just perfect.

This turned out to be not as good as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong, the story was good but it was distracting which made it harder to settle into and let wash over me. The story is told in bits and pieces over 5 different families. That was a bit too much for me. While the main focus was on Margot and Myron Spielman, it was basically only their story that I really enjoyed and could get into. The others just felt choppy. But I think that's just me more so than how it was written. So while I loved the whole haunted house aspect, it didn't live up to the hype for me.

I thought No One's Home by D.M. Pulley sounded like the perfect October thriller book. It was a wonderful book for this time of year, spooky, thrilling, suspenseful, with lots of character. Rawlingswood, a stately house in Ohio, has housed many families over the years. The trouble is, the men of the house seem to die and the house seems to be inhabited by ghosts of the past families. Pulling introduced you to the families and their history. You learn how the families are intertwined in the house and how they struggled in their own time. Unfortunately, these histories are often sad and troubled. I appreciated the suspense of the story and the history entangled within the story. I liked the characters and was drawn to each family. I will definitely recommend this book to others and will be looking for other D.M. Pulley work. Well, when I read the description, I was intrigued. Little did I know that this book is Horror. Now, that I read the description again, I feel dumb. So, I am going to use the book's very description.

You might think that what part of this book didn't sound like horror to me? That is what I am thinking as well. But boy, am I not glad that this book turned out to be my first horror read! I freakin' fell in love with this book and I couldn't put the book down. The book had me engrossed from the start to the very end. I am left extremely sad that it had to come to an end.

Fast-paced, extremely intriguing, a binge-worthy read with an enthralling storyline, this book explores the lives of many kind and suffering which I really empathised. Every charactered suffered/suffering in the gruelling and heart-wrenching ways as possible and the ending didn't let me down. Even though the book explores the theme of a haunted house, it comes close to real lives. The characters are so beautifully developed and I loved how every character explored their own identities. Something which is applaudable is Pulley's knack of storytelling. Even though the plot is simple and the twists are foreseen, you still pause and give out a dramatic gasp. That is the power of Pulley's writing. Her keen and finesse writing is something I aspire to have.

I just loved this book so freakin' much! I will be reading this again and again. It is definitely one of my best reads of the year! I will be reading whatever D. M. Pulley crafts next and I am pretty excited for it!

Creepy and atmospheric, this book is a perfect read as we near Halloween ! A family moves into a new home unaware that it is very haunted. The story weaves between past and present, telling the story of all the families who lived in it; their legacies of violence and lies still dwelling within the house . This page-turner will keep you up all night !

Ugh...i had so much hope for this book but it fell flat for me. I love reading about haunted places, especially around Halloween, but I found this book to be a little off. It wasn't that chilling and sometimes I got lost in between the different family views. I hope later books will be better.

The synopsis and cover are perfect and I was excited to start a spooky book being that it's October. I have to be honest and say that I found this very disappointing. I did not enjoy that back and forth in time between all the families that lived in the home. I would have preferred hearing only from the current residents. Another gripe I had was how much detail went into characters descriptions. The pimple faced teenager with gangling limbs and hair sprouting here and there. We get it! Or the hot mom and her endless foot tapping in stiletto heals with her perfumed head and perfectly plucked brows or her tight buttocks in her yoga pants. The final straw was when she and her husband "mashed" their faces together in a kiss. I could not force myself to continue with this nonsense.
